Following the Zil Hajj moon controversy, Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee Chairman Mufti Muneeb-ur-Rehman has stressed that it was first-day crescent according to both science and religion.
While reacting strongly to Federal Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry’s statement, Mufti Muneeb asked which science or book of astronomy determines lunar date by the size of moon.
The Ruet-e-Hilal Committee chief remarked that Fawad Chaudhry is portraying himself as an expert of science which is only his ignorance. His only work is to mock the religion, Mufti Muneeb affirmed.
Earlier on Wednesday, Fawad Chaudhry had posted a picture of the crescent on Twitter and wrote, “Is this the first-day moon? Does the moon stay in the sky for so long after the sun sets? Let the people decide for themselves…”
کیا یہ پہلی کا چاند ہے؟ کیا سورج کے غروب ہونے کے بعد اتنی دیر چاند سر آسماں رہتا ہے؟ عوام خود فیصلہ کر لیں۔۔۔ pic.twitter.com/ArmADAdVoi

However, Fawad Chaudhry still not ready to accept the decision of Ruet-e-Hilal Committee celebrating Eid-ul-Adha on 1st August.
According to the details, the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee has said that the moon could not be sighted due to thick clouds. To which Cuadhry responded, “If there were clouds, how could be the moon sighted?”
He went on to say, “The scholars should decide whether technology is forbidden (Haraam) or not. If people can pray by looking and the time, then why moon cannot be seen by technology?”
Fawad Chaudhry concluded by saying, “The Zilhajj moon has already been sighted in Pakistan, you can watch its location on the Ruet App.”
This is not the first time when Fawad Chaudhry proved the technology right. The final decision of celebrating Eid-ul-Adha is yet to be finalized after Fawad’s statements.
