FIFA approves guaranteed maternity leaves for women soccer players

FIFA MATERNITY LEAVES APPROVED

Football’s world governing body FIFA has announced to provide maternity leaves under new rules, the global soccer body’s president Gianni Infantino said.

Under the new rules, approved by FIFA Council, each woman will be given 14 weeks maternity leave and her club will be obliged to reintegrate her afterwards and provide adequate medical support.

“If we are serious about boosting the women’s game, we have to look at all these aspects,” Infantino said.

“Female players need to have stability in their careers and if they take maternity leave, they should not have to worry about when they are ready to play again.”

The rules will incorporate into FIFA’s regulations on the status and transfer of players and will be enforced worldwide.

Infantino said new rules would also be introduced to give greater stability to coaches, although there were no immediate further details.

“Coaches develop how we play and inspire the players, they too need job security and we have established minimum standards to protect them,” he said.

The Council also decided to stage an additional edition of its old-style Club World Cup, featuring seven teams including the champions of each continent, in Japan in 2021.

A new-style tournament, featuring 24 teams, due to held in China in 2022, put back one year because of the COVID-19 pandemic. “We will have the best club competition in the world,” said Infantino.

“Despite your tactics you’ll have to go home”, Maryam sneers at PM Imran

Maryam Nawaz sneers at PM Imran

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Vice President Maryam Nawaz has on Thursday asked the government why it “changed its strategy” if it is unaffected by the PDM rallies.

While addressing a press conference in Lahore, Maryam Nawaz said, “If you are not affected by PDM jalsas, as you say, then why is there an emergency to hold elections — and this has never happened in Pakistan’s history.”

“Even if the government holds early Senate elections, it “cannot save itself”, and it “will be going home,” added the PML-N leader.

She further blamed Prime Minister Imran Khan for “destroying” national institutions by dragging them into politics for his own interests.

“You became a self-proclaimed FIA (Federal Investigation Agency) chairman, you became a self-proclaimed FBR (Federal Board of Revenue) chairman, and now you want to become the chairman of the election commission,” Maryam said.

Referring to the PTI government, she added, “They have understood that they have limited days in office […] Despite your tactics, you will have to go home.”

Maryam said that the prime minister was making the Supreme Court “controversial” by involving it in the matter of introducing the “show of hands” method for Senate elections.

The PML-N leader said that she was not against “show of hands”; however, Maryam claimed that the motive behind the government’s move “was not transparent”.

Saba Qamar warns everyone not to challenge an Aries

Saba Qamar

One of Pakistan’s super talented actress Saba Qamar was born on April 5, making her star sign “Aries”.

The Bhaagi actress uploaded a new picture on her Instagram today (Thursday) and told everyone not to challenge an Aries ever.

Saba, giving the bossy expressions, looks diving in an all-black outfit paired with black long boots.

She captioned the picture as,

“Tell an Aries you can’t, they’ll look at you like, watch me.”

Earlier, the Digest Writer actress revealed that she does not want children. “When people around me discussed their future, no matter how different their plans might be from one another, they always had one thing in common; they saw themselves with a spouse and kids.”

She added that such future plans make me feel suffocated as I am against such typical commitments.

In a short time after completing her education, Qamar started to feel that the idea of having children doesn’t actually appeal to her.

“I realized the idea of having children didn’t really appeal to me. She said that having a husband and children is something every woman must do as this is the only concern in our society.”

“But as I grew up, I discovered other narratives of women who chose to not have children themselves because they too did not feel it was necessary. And that it was okay not to want children”, she added.

Pakistan, where childless couples are pitied, in such a matter the realization that you do not want children is scary, the actress explained.

Zoom will uplift time limit for free accounts on these dates

Zoom App

Good news for all the Zoom users as the famous video-conferencing application will be lifting the limit for free accounts worldwide.

Zoom has a 40-minute meeting limit on conference calls (with three or more members) made from free accounts but for the upcoming holidays and new year, the video-conferencing application has decided to gift something to its users.

Zoom users will be able to make unlimitedly long conference calls on the following dates:

December 17th to December 19th
December 23rd to December 26th
December 30th to January 2nd

Earlier, Zoom Video Communications declared that its gross profit margins are lessening due to the increase in the number of free users.

According to the details, shares of the company, which have risen about sevenfold this year fueled by the dramatic rise in demand in video conferencing for work, school, or socializing due to the coronavirus pandemic, fell 5% after the bell, in spite of positive fourth-quarter forecasts.

However, zoom scores some of its own data centers, but it also relies on cloud computing services from outside retailers such as Amazon and Oracle Corp, meaning it must tolerate costs for free users.

Those bills, driven in part by a jump in free users in the 3rd quarter as millions of students and teachers started new school semesters, pushed down Zoom’s gross profit margins to 66.7%, below analysts’ estimates of 72.1%, and its pre-pandemic average of around 80%.
