ECP suspends 11 MNAs, 7 MPAs for not submitting asset detail

ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has suspended the membership of 11 National Assembly Members (MNAs) for failing to submit their asset declarations.

The membership of 11 members of the National Assembly was suspended for not submitting the annual returns, the Election Commission has issued a notification in this regard.

The notification said that the ECP has also suspended the membership of 7 members of the Sindh Assembly.

The members include Khurram Dastgir, Mohsin Nawaz Ranjha, Ishaq Khan, Muhammad Ali, Kamaluddin, Ismatullah, Syed Mahmood Shah, Samina Matloob and Naseeba.

The membership of Shamim Ara Panhwar, Rubina Irfan was also suspended while the membership of Adeel Ahmed, Hizbullah Bugio, Arsalan Taj and other members of the Sindh Assembly were suspended.

IHC suspends physical remand of PTI MNAs

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has suspended the 8-day physical remand of Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf members of National Assembly (MNAs).

Chief Justice Islamabad High Court Aamer Farooq and Justice Saman Rafat Imtiaz heard the case related to the arrested leaders of PTI.

On the request of Shoaib Shaheen Advocate, the court suspended the physical remand order of PTI MNAs Zain Qureshi, Sher Afzal Marwat and Sheikh Waqas Akram.

Chief Justice Aamer Farooq asked “If we make an order, will the accused be judicial.

The petitioner’s lawyer said that the court should not give too long physical remand, the trial court did not write any reasons for the remand in its order.

Chief Justice Aamer Farooq asked the prosecutor, how will you defend the decision of physical remand. On which the prosecutor read out the FIRs against the accused.

The Islamabad High Court adjourned the hearing of the case till tomorrow.

The Prosecutor General said that suspending the decision of physical remand will give a bad impression.

The PTI MNAs arrested in connection with cases registered against them following the September 8 rally.

The five Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) MNAs, including Amir Dogar, approached the Islamabad High Court (IHC) challenging the eight-day physical remand order.

The petitioners stated that as elected members of the National Assembly they were illegally arrested from the assembly premises without any reason and taken to an unknown location.

ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Wednesday de-notified 43 more Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) members of the National Assembly(MNAs) after the acceptance of their resignations by NA Speaker Raja Pervaiz Ashraf.

After the announcement of PTI MNAs’ return to the National Assembly, the federal government made a move to accept their resignations in an apparent bid to reduce the number of opposition lawmakers.

The de-notified PTI MNAs include Riaz Fatyana, Sardar Tariq Hussain, Mohammad Yaqub Sheikh, Murtaza Iqbal, Sardar Mohammad Khan Leghari, Zile Humma, Rukhsana Naveed, Ghazala Saifi, Nousheen Hamid, Sobia Kamal Khan, and others.

Earlier, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) received the resignations of 43 more MNAs of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

According to the details, the resignations of 43 members of PTI have been approved by the Speaker National Assembly.

The Speaker National Assembly has accepted the resignations and sent them to the Election Commission of Pakistan(ECP) while also issuing instructions to de-notify the PTI members.

The Speaker National Assembly has accepted the resignations and sent them to the Election Commission of Pakistan(ECP) while also issuing instructions to de-notify the PTI members. However, the Election Commission will decide whether to accept the resignations or not.

It should be noted that the resignations of Riaz Fatyana, Talib Nakai, Yaqoob Sheikh, Sunila Rath, Ghazali Kaifi, Farooq Azam, Nafisa Khattak, Tahir Sadiq, Sahibzada Muhammad Mehboob Sultan, Haji Imtiaz Chaudhry, Zille Huma, Nausheen Hamid, Ghulam Bibi Bharwana have been accepted.

It should be noted that yesterday, the resignations were withdrawn by the members of the Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf National Assembly, about which the Speaker of the National Assembly was informed through email and WhatsApp.
PTI also wrote a letter to the Election Commission on this issue, in which it was informed about the withdrawal of resignations.

In this regard, Aamir Dogar, along with PTI MNAs, held a press conference outside the Election Commission and said that PTI held a detailed meeting with the Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja and other members of the Election Commission. He said PTI told CEC that how 10 months the Speaker has withheld party MNAs resignations.

He said that now resignations are being accepted step by step, but PTI decided to withdraw 45 resignations as part of a political strategy, then the doors of Parliament were closed for party.

LAHORE: Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf(PTI) Imran Khan has summoned all the members of the National Assembly to Islamabad on December 28 on the issue of acceptance of resignations from the National Assembly.

According to sources, all members of the National Assembly have been instructed to reach Khyber Pakhtunkhawa (KP) House on December 28, while former prime minister Imran Khan will address the members of the National Assembly on the video link.

Sources have said that all the members will leave for the Parliament House under the leadership of Shah Mahmood Qureshi, the members will appear before the Speaker of the National Assembly and confirm their resignations.

Sources said that the party leadership has instructed that the meeting at KP House is very important and all members should ensure their attendance.

According to sources, Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan has strictly instructed that no member should be absent.

On the other hand, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan has called a meeting of the Media Strategy Committee.

The follow-up meeting of the senior leadership of central and Punjab has been called again today, the meeting will be chaired by Imran Khan at Zaman Park.

In the meeting, the strategy for the Chief Minister’s vote of confidence will be finalized and the committee meeting with Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi will also brief Imran Khan.

Former prime minister Imran Khan will be briefed on the issues discussed by Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi and Moonis Elahi in the meeting.
