The Speaker National Assembly has accepted the resignations and sent them to the Election Commission of Pakistan(ECP) while also issuing instructions to de-notify the PTI members. However, the Election Commission will decide whether to accept the resignations or not.

Speaker NA finalizes strategy to accept PTI MNAs resignations

Speaker NA
  • Speaker of National Assembly Raja Pervaiz Ashraf has prepared a different policy.
  • PTI members may be asked to confirm the resignations from the Speaker.
  • Imran Khan has directed all the members to reach Islamabad.

ISLAMABAD: Speaker National Assembly has finalized the strategy on the matter of accepting the resignations of members of the Assembly of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf(PTI).

To approve the resignations of 123 members of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, Speaker of National Assembly Raja Pervaiz Ashraf has prepared a different policy against the procedure adopted by himself earlier at the time of accepting the resignations of eleven members.

According to the prepared policy, “If 123 members of PTI come to accept their resignations, they have to submit hand written resignations, stating under what circumstances and for what reasons.”

In the past, when Speaker Raja Pervaiz Ashraf accepted the resignations of eleven members, no such action was taken, while none of the resignations of those eleven accepted members were handwritten.

These 11 accepted resignations were signed on computer printouts and the Speaker accepted the resignations without calling the members before him for verification.

According to the policy , “If the PTI members come to the speaker’s chamber together tomorrow, they will be asked to go to the speaker one by one, and if the PTI members do not go to the speaker one by one then the process of verification of resignations will be postponed.”

It should be noted that the PTI members may be asked to confirm the resignations by taking separate time from the Speaker’s Office.

On the other hand, Chairman Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan has directed all the members to reach Islamabad and said that all the members should go to the Parliament House collectively.
