RAWALPINDI: Two Pakistan Army soldiers were martyred in two separate gun battles took place between security forces and the terrorists in North and South Waziristan districts.

According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the first engagement occurred in the general area Asman Munza, South Waziristan District, where troops effectively engaged the terrorists’ location as a result of which one terrorist was sent to hell, while one terrorist got injured.

However, during intense exchange of fire, 31-years old Sepoy Sajid Azam resident of Kotli, Azad Kashmir having fought gallantly, embraced shahadat.

In another intense fire exchange between security forces and terrorists in general area of Miran Shah, North Waziristan District; one terrorist was sent to hell, whereas a brave son of soil, 27-years Sepoy Waris Khan resident of District Karak paid the ultimate sacrifice and embraced shahadat.

Sanitization is being carried out to eliminate any terrorists found in the area.

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif terming the martyred soldiers the “pride of the nation”, said their sacrifices of invaluable lives could never be forgotten.

The prime minister expressed these remarks in a statement issued after four soldiers of the Pakistan Army lost their lives in a terrorist attack in the Zhob Garrison of Balochistan.

He paid tribute to the martyred soldiers and said their sacrifice for the homeland would be remembered forever.

In twitter message, the prime minister said that they were indebted to the supreme sacrifices of the sacred blood of their Shuhada and Ghazi that had ensured the defence and solidarity of Pakistan.

He said the ongoing fight against terrorism was a fight for the future of the nation. In the last decade, the valiant forces and the nation together had eradicated the cancer of terrorism and would do the same to root out the specter by offering any sacrifice, he added.

ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Interior has excused to deploy troops outside sensitive and most sensitive polling stations during the second phase of local government elections in Karachi and Hyderabad.

The Election Commission has received the reply to the letter written to the Ministry of Interior on the issue of the deployment of the army and rangers outside the polling stations during the second phase of municipal elections in Sindh.

Responding to the ECP’s letter, the Ministry of Interior has excused the deployment of the army and rangers at polling stations.

In response to the letter, the Ministry of Interior has stated that deployment of such a large number of army and rangers personnel is not possible.

The Ministry of Interior said that the issue of deployment of army and rangers was taken with the GHQ, however, deployment is the responsibility of the provincial government at the first level and it has already been informed that deployment is not possible at highly sensitive polling stations.

According to the Ministry of Interior, it is not possible to provide security cover to the election staff and materials, but the ECP should identify 500 highly sensitive polling stations because the deployment of rangers can be done outside five hundred highly sensitive polling stations, in which the rangers personnel will assist the police personnel.

It may be noted that the Election Commission had written a letter to the Ministry of Interior regarding the deployment of the Pakistan army and rangers personnel during the LG elections.

On the other hand, the Ministry of Interior has directed the deployment of Frontier Constabulary at sensitive and highly sensitive polling stations.

In this regard, the Ministry of Interior said that the Election Commission had requested for deployment of Frontier Constabulary at the most sensitive and sensitive polling stations. However, the date and area of ​​deployment, in consultation with the Sindh Government, Election Commission, and Frontier Constabulary.
