QUETTA: The death toll in Balochistan has risen up to more than 325 due to floods and epidemics spread across the province. In the last 24 hours, 02 people were reported dead, Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) released a report on Tuesday.

According to the data shared by PDMA, billions of worth of wheat and other crops have been destroyed due to flash floods and rains.

Moreover, 172 people had serious or minor injuries. Of the wounded people, 91 men, 39 women, and 45 children faced injuries, according to PDMA stats.

As per the details, 65,000 houses were completely demolished and 120,000 were minorly affected due to floods. A 1500 km long highway road was also affected due to floods.

Furthermore,  more than 4,000 solar plates, tube wells, and borings were also affected or destroyed due to flash floods. A vast area of Standing crops of 900,000 acres of land was also destroyed which has caused a shortage of food in the province.

Floods due to monsoon rains in Southern Punjab and other districts of the province have claimed the lives of 151 people, Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) released a report on the destruction caused by floods in Punjab.

According to the PDMA Punjab report, severe rains inundated 69 schools and seven basic health institutions. Rains and flash floods wreaked havoc in 555,893 places throughout six districts of the province.

According to the PDMA data, the most impacted locations include Rajanpur, DG Khan, Mianwali, Muzaffargarh, Sialkot, and Layyah. Rainwater overwhelmed 201,965 agricultural lands and flooded 12,628 homes.
According to PDMA data, at least 151 people died as a result of floods and storms, 606 were injured, and 341,077 were displaced.

Rain and flooding killed almost 200,000 large animals and 2,586 small animals, and swept away 37 highways and eight bridges. Seven canals were also devastated by floodwaters.

According to a report from the PDMA Punjab, 20,264 persons and 516 animals were evacuated from flood-affected areas. According to the report, the government has constructed at least 147 medical camps and 9,355 tented villages for the afflicted people.

According to the PDMA data, approximately one lakh animals were vaccinated. 19,839 persons were given food rations and cooked food.

As per the PDMA report, rescue operations are currently ongoing in the province’s impacted areas, with 551 rescuers and 84 boats engaged in relief and rescue efforts.

QUETTA: Catastrophic torrential rains in Balochistan have taken the lives of 236 people throughout the province. In the last 24 hours, floods in different districts have claimed 12 lives, according to a report released by the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) on Wednesday.

According to the PDMA statistics, the death ratio of women and children is higher than that of males. According to the report, 112 men,55 women, and 69 children perished as a result of the excessive rains.

As per the details, the deaths occurred in Quetta, Bolan, Zhob, Daki, Khuzdar, Kohlo, Kech, Mastong, Hartnai, Qila Saif Ullah, and Sibbi. 102 people were injured or suffered minor injuries as a result of the torrential rains. According to the PDMA report, 55 men, 11 women, and 35 children faced injuries.

In flood-hit areas, the infrastructure, including buildings, houses, and other shelters, is destroyed or damaged. The stats in the PDMA report show that around 27,747 residential homes and buildings were affected by floods.

KARACHI: The Union of Small and Medium Enterprises (UNISAME) has urged philanthropists, provincial governments and foreign companies to support the victims of the flood-affected areas in Sindh and Balochistan, a statement said on Wednesday.

UNISAME President Zulfikar Thaver said that heavy rains and floods have destroyed the houses and farms and has left the farmers associated with micro and the Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) stranded.

The situation is very bad and pitiful and if timely help is not provided to them, it will result in the loss of lives, as well as starvation.

The big landlords have shifted to their houses in cities but the small farmers have no place to go and they are sitting on the roads in helpless conditions, he added.

The members of the UNISAME Council appreciated the relief work done by some of the non-government organisations (NGOs) and also the Pakistan Army and Navy and requested all commercial institutions and multinationals to join hands in efforts to provide food, shelter and clothing to the affected people on an unrgent basis.

Thaver said that the losses to lives and properties are colossal and calls for extraordinary relief measures, as the inhabitants have lost their crops, their belongings and livestock.

He suggested the provincial governments to set up relief centres across the affected areas to effectively carry out disaster management.

Rescue efforts are continuing in Hyderabad, Sanghar, Badin, Thatta, Jamshoro, Naushahro Feroze, and other parts of Sindh. Two army helicopters have been sent to Interior Sindh to assist with rescue efforts.

“Affected populations and their belongings are being shifted to safer places. Army medical teams are providing medical care to affected people,” the ISPR said.

According to the military media wing, “Pak Army and FC troops are engaged in flood Rescue and relief operations in Balochistan. Relief activities are ongoing in Quetta, Pashin, Qila Saifullah, Ziarat, Zhob, Loralai, and Nushki. Relief Camps were also established in Naseerabad, Lasbela, and Dukki. ”

According to the details, a vast part of the Sanghar-Kheirpur road was devastated due to the flood. 19,752 houses have been demolished, and in the whole Sanghar district, 90 percent of the standing crops have been destroyed.

As per the details mentioned by the department of revenue, around 150,000 people have become homeless and more people are being forced to leave their homes and belongings due to floods. Water stands in the major areas of the city, including schools, hospitals, and offices, have increased health issues in the region.

Heavy rains have wrecked most of the roads, and due to this, the unavailability of medicines in hospitals has caused shortages. Patients are unable to be treated by doctors. Furthermore, the doctors demanded that the administration make immediate efforts to meet the need for medicines, or else the death toll would rise.

Moreover, people are starving to death due to the non-availability of food. According to the BOL News report, a few Non Governmental Organizations (NGOs) were providing ration bags to the affected families.

SUKKUR: A high-level flood is to enter Guddu Barrage by tonight, whereas a flood with more intensity would pass through the Sukkur Barrage by Tuesday. An estimate of 600,000 cusecs of flood water will enter the barrages, claims the Chief Minister of Sindh, Murad Ali Shah. 

According to the details, the CM told the media that monitoring of the Sukkur and Gudu Barrage has tightened and things will be under control as expected. “Sindh is going through its toughest times. This year, the province received record-breaking rains,” he added.

“The provincial government is striving to accommodate and assist the flood-affected people. We are trying our level best to deliver to the people of Sindh. No negligence will be tolerated in relief work,” CM Murad Ali Shah said.

Murad Ali Shah further added that the provincial government is monitoring every district and the damage caused by heavy rains and floods is also being estimated. “We are going through a tough time but will surely give relief to the people affected by natural disasters,” CM Murad added.

It is pertinent to mention here that the recent rains have wreaked havoc in Sindh as 39 people have lost their lives to the monsoon in the last 24 hours. PDMA Sindh says that 9 people have been killed in Nowshahro Feroze, 8 in Khairpur, 7 in Shikarpur, 5 in Shaheed Benazirabad, 4 in Jacobabad, 3 in Tando Illahyar, 1 in Thatta, and 2 in others.
