Actor Alia Bhatt used Instagram Stories on Tuesday to post a few pictures of herself that had been illegally shot when she was in her living room. She criticized a media outlet for publishing her images, which she claimed were taken by two males from the terrace of a nearby building. Alia was supported by Sushmita Sen, who reshared a post on how celebrities have it worst when it comes to privacy, after stars like Anushka Sharma and Janhvi Kapoor reshared Alia’s Instagram Stories and shared experiencing similar incidents.

On Tuesday, Sushmita shared a note from novelist Huma Tanweer on Instagram Stories in which she discussed how the media “often blurs the barriers between personal and social lives” of celebrities. Moreover, Sushmita mentioned Alia, Shaheen Bhatt, and the Mumbai Police. In her initial email, Huma wrote: “Privacy is a myth in a world that has become smaller thanks to the internet, technology, and social media. However, it is worse if you are a celebrity. There isn’t much that can be kept secret with the paparazzi culture at its height.”

The blogger said, “Men, how can you surprise someone despite their constant demands for secrecy to the media? When will we draw the boundaries? Do we merely develop into a PR machine? Our right to privacy cannot ever be infringed in any way. Media frequently obfuscates the distinction between social and private lives. They significantly conflate the two, with annoying and dishonest results.”

She continued, “Because everyone has a psychological need for privacy, a distinction between a celebrity’s private and public lives should always exist. The media should respect this boundary and stay out of it. It is by no means fair to use such news to increase channel ratings and draw in more people.”

On Tuesday, Alia Bhatt posted an image of a social media article shared by a news outlet and explained how she had given permission for the photo to be taken inside her home. Are you kidding me? she wrote on Instagram Stories. When I sensed someone observing me, I was at home spending a completely ordinary afternoon in my living room. When I raised my head, I noticed two men on the terrace of the building next to me, looking directly at me with a camera. What kind of world does this fit into? Someone’s privacy has been blatantly violated! All lines were crossed today, and there are some things you should never do. In her article, she included the Mumbai Police as well.

Last year, after billionaire and former IPL Chairman Lalit Modi released their personal images on Twitter and Instagram and revealed his relationship with the actor, Sushmita Sen made a sly jab at social media users who called her a “money digger.” The former Miss Universe then clarified her position on Instagram, posting a message of love and self-acceptance beside a picture of herself and her daughters. “I am in a joyful place, not married, no rings, but totally surrounded by love,” she had wrote in the description.
