IHC allows Latif Khosa to travel abroad

ISLAMABAD: Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Thursday allowed senior advocate and Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) leader Latif Khosa to travel abroad.

A hearing was held in the Islamabad High Court on the petition to withdraw the name of senior advocate Latif Khosa from Exit Control List (ECL).

Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani heard the plea of Latif Khosa. Advocate Latif Khosa appeared in the court.

The public prosecutor said that the name is in the ECL, a case is registered, on which the court inquired whether the challan has been submitted. On this lawyer said that the challan has not been submitted yet.

Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani said that there is a violation of Section 144, what is this 7 ATA, should he be arrested.

Latif Khosa said that he had a flight on January 05 but he was not allowed to go. Now he has to go to Canada tomorrow. The court directed him to give an affidavit in the trial court that he will appear when the court summons him.

The Islamabad High Court allowed Latif Khosa to go abroad and adjourned the hearing.

SC rejects plea seeking transfer of detainees in normal jail

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court(SC) on Tuesday rejected the plea to transfer the detainees to normal jails in the case of trials of civilians in military courts.

A 7-member constitutional bench of the Supreme Court heard the case of the civilian trial in the military courts, in which Pakistan Tehreek Insaf’s lawyer Latif Khosa and the Additional Attorney General appeared in the court.

During the hearing, lawyer Latif Khosa said that at least the detainees can be met in the jails, on which Justice Aminuddin Khan said that the Attorney General has given assurances regarding the meeting.

The court rejected Latif Khosa’s plea to transfer the detainees to regular jails.

During the hearing, Additional Attorney General told the court that defence ministry lawyer Khawaja Haris is unwell and he has stomach problem due to which he cannot appear in the court, so the hearing should be postponed.

The court accepted the request of the Additional Attorney General to adjourn the hearing and adjourned the further hearing of the case till Thursday.

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court(IHC)  dismissed the petition filed against the appointment of Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja.

Chief Justice Amer Farooq dismissed the petition as inadmissible. After hearing the arguments this morning, the court had reserved its decision on the petition being admissible.

The lawyer took the position that Sikandar Sultan Raja was a serving bureaucrat when he was appointed, according to the Supreme Court decision, senior civil servants cannot be appointed, retired officers of grade 22 can be appointed, current or former judges of the Supreme Court can also be appointed.

The counsel for the petitioner Karam Bari submitted that amendment was done in 2016 and then the further amendment was made. He stated after amendment a retired officer was appointed, because the retired officer is not subordinate to anyone,  however the Chief Election Commissioner is a serving employee.

Chief Justice Aamir Farooq inquired that you put something in it and how do you know that this happened. The lawyer replied to the application saying that it is on their website.

The Chief Justice of Islamabad High Court said, prove something.

The lawyer replied to the application that give him time.  Election Commission’s lawyer came to the rostrum without notice and told the court that I have a notification of retirement before becoming the Chief Election Commissioner.

Chief Justice Amir Farooq while talking to the lawyer of the Election Commission said that you have not been called or noticed yet, you seem to be in a hurry.

ISLAMABAD: A district and sessions court in Islamabad handed over Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf(PTI) leader Rauf Hassan and other party workers to Federal Investigation Agency (FIA)  on 2-day physical remand  in a case related to his alleged involvement in anti-state propaganda.

The FIA ​​produced Rauf Hassan in the court of Sessions Court Judicial Magistrate Abbas Shah where PTI’s lawyer Latif Khosa appeared in the court.

The FIA ​​prosecutor requested the court for the physical remand of Rauf Hassan and said that the devices of the social media accounts have to be recovered. “There will be further investigation, if the devices are found and physical remand can be required for 30 days in the FIA ​​case”.

Lawyer Latif Khosa opposed Rauf Hassan’s request for physical remand and said that the office of PTI was sealed. The case is in the High Court while 11 judges of the full court said that PTI was a political party and will remain so.

Latif Khosa further said that Rauf Hassan name was included on the statement of an accused. The devices and mobiles of arrested PTI workers are with FIA.

During the hearing, FIA requested for physical remand of Rauf Hassan for 10 days while lawyer requested to discharge Rauf Hassan and others from the case.

The court approved the 2-day physical remand of Rauf Hassan and other PTI workers while sending two women to jail on judicial remand.

LAHORE: The son of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader and senior lawyer Sardar Latif Khosa was arrested by the police.

Latif Khosa has said in his statement that his son Khurram Latif has been arrested by Mazang police station in Lahore.

He said that Khurram Latif Khosa was arrested from the office near the High Court and added that he was being targeted because of PTI.

On the other hand, the police said that a case had been registered against Khurram Latif in the complaint of the sub-inspector in Mazang police station.

According to the police, it has been stated in the FIR that Khurram Latif Khosa along with 15 to 20 lawyers beat up the policemen, threatened them with serious consequences, and attacked the policemen.

It should be noted that recently senior lawyer Sardar Latif Khosa joined the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf by ending his long-standing association with the Pakistan People’s Party.

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) ordered the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to conduct forensics on the audio leak of senior lawyer Latif Khosa and former first lady Bushra Bibi.

In the case related to the audio leak of Latif Khosa and Bushra Bibi, the Court said that an investigation should be conducted as to where the audio was released in the first place.

Justice Babar Sattar said the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) should tell how private conversations of people are being aired on TV channels.

Justice Babar Sattar inquired what is the objection of the registrar’s office on the petition.

Latif Khosa said that there is an objection to filing a separate application, how can you file a separate application?

Justice Babar Sattar asked who was recording the audio. Which Latif Khosa said that everyone knows who records, Justice Babar Sattar said that they cannot go on the assumption.

Justice Babar Sattar inquired and said the audio had come on social media, on which Latif Khosa said that the audio was also broadcast by all the TV channels.

Justice Babar Sattar ordered to send a copy of the application to DG ISI and said that DG ISI should also report who released the audio.

The court issued notices to FIA, PEMRA, and PTA on the issue of audio leak of Bushra Bibi and Latif Khosa and adjourned the case till December 11 for further hearing.

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) ordered the Pakistan Public Works Department (PWD) to conduct an inquiry into the malfunctioning of an elevator in which senior lawyer Latif Khosa got trapped.

The Registrar IHC ordered the DG PPWD to conduct an inquiry into the elevator malfunction and submit a report within two days. Registrar instructed that all lifts of the High Court Building should be inspected and repaired immediately if required.

The registrar ordered that PWD-trained and skilled lift operators should be posted for the High Court Building to avoid any untoward incident in the future.

In the letter written by the Registrar to the DG PWD, it was stated that on August 25, the elevator of the Judges Block broke down and got stuck on the second floor. Senior Lawyer Latif Khosa, other lawyers, and some media representatives were also stuck in the lift.

When the technical staff of PWD was called for checking the lift was showing an overloading error. The technical staff failed to remove the error and evacuate the people trapped in the lift despite several attempts.

Capital Development Authority(CDA)rescue personnel later broke the lift door and pulled out the trapped people.

SC refuses to open volume 10 of Panama JIT report

ISLAMABD: The Supreme Court disposed of the application of the Broadsheet Company  to open volume ten of the Panama joint investigation team (JIT) report on the basis of withdrawal.

During the hearing held in the Supreme Court, Justice Athar Minallah said that the Broadsheet had asked to open volume ten for international arbitration. The matter has been settled there and now your application has become ineffective,” the justice said.

During the hearing, Broadsheet’s counsel Latif Khosa said that the matter has not yet become ineffective, let it be known what is in volume ten to keep it secret.

Lawyer Latif Khosa said that under Article 19A, the people have the right to see how the country was looted, to which Justice Athar Manullah said that we will not go that way because an elected prime minister was removed.
