Aamir Khan’s 2022 release Laal Singh Chaddha struggled at the box office, leaving the actor deeply affected. Kareena Kapoor, who played the female lead, recently shared Aamir’s emotional response in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter India.

“Laal Singh was such a beautiful, honest film,” Kareena said. “You have such stalwarts like Aamir who believed in that film. Of course, he was shattered. He met me somewhere and said, ‘Picture nahi chali humari na, tu baat toh karegi na mujhse (Our movie didn’t work. You will still talk to me, right)?’”

Kareena revealed her pride in the project despite its underperformance. “I am most proud that you gave me Rupa! I feel what Rupa has done for me… it has done more for me than what a Singham can do,” she remarked.

She emphasized that the film wasn’t created for commercial success, explaining, “We did not make that film thinking it would make ₹500 crore. It was just made with all heart.”

Laal Singh Chaddha, a Hindi adaptation of Forrest Gump, received mixed reactions. Aamir Khan is now gearing up for his next projects, Sitaare Zameen Par and Lahore, 1947. Kareena, meanwhile, recently reprised her role in Rohit Shetty’s blockbuster Singham Again.

In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter India, Bollywood actor Aamir Khan revealed why he briefly considered quitting films before the release of Laal Singh Chaddha.

Reflecting on his 35-year career, Aamir shared that the Covid-19 pandemic prompted him to reassess his life choices, particularly in terms of personal relationships.

Aamir explained, “Towards the end of Covid-19, I felt, sitting alone and thinking I’ve spent the bulk of my adult life, starting from the age of 18 when I became an assistant right up to now, all of my bandwidth, my focus has been cinema and films.” He admitted that this realization led to feelings of guilt: “I felt that I had not been there for these people… I went through that emotional moment where I felt I’ve given my whole life to cinema and I’ve not been there for my family.”

It was his children, Junaid and Ira Khan, who convinced him to reconsider. Junaid’s advice particularly stood out, as he told Aamir that he was going from “one extreme to another” and that “somewhere in the middle also there is a space that you can be in.” Aamir has since decided to find a balance between his passion for cinema and his family life.

On the work front, Amir Khan was last seen in the film Laal Singh Chaddha and made a guest appearance in Salam Venky.

While Kiara didn’t specify the character she auditioned for, it is widely believed to be the role eventually portrayed by Kareena Kapoor. Reflecting on her audition, Kiara admitted she might have been “terrible” as she didn’t land the part, but she appreciated the importance of proving suitability for specific roles.

“Laal Singh Chaddha,” directed by Advait Chandan, is an Indian adaptation of the beloved Hollywood movie “Forrest Gump.” The film faced initial controversies and boycott calls but managed to earn around ₹130 crore at the worldwide box office within a month of release, later finding success on Netflix.

During an interview with Film Companion, Kiara shared her openness to auditioning for roles and cited Kareena Kapoor’s audition for “Laal Singh Chaddha” as an inspiration. She revealed that she had auditioned for the film without initially realizing it was the project in question. Humorously, Kiara confessed that she would rather not watch her audition, implying that she may not have performed to her satisfaction. However, she emphasized the importance of the casting process and finding the best fit for each role, regardless of who might be the “better actor.”

Prior to Kiara’s revelations, Kareena Kapoor had also shared her audition experience for “Laal Singh Chaddha.” The actress had shown dedication in proving her suitability for the role, especially in portraying the character at different life stages.

Looking ahead, Kiara Advani is set to star alongside Ram Charan in the upcoming film “Game Changer.” Additionally, there have been reports of her being considered for the movie “Jee Le Zaraa,” potentially replacing Priyanka Chopra in the project.

The actor expressed his views, saying: “Even the mainstream Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam films are creative. They are unique. Although they may have crude tastes, they always execute everything perfectly. This is something that I have long discovered. Even if the song picturization in Jeetendra and Sridevi’s cheesy movies was ridiculous, with hundreds of matkas (clay pots) lined up in a row, at least it was an original concept.”

Naseeruddin Shah most recently appeared in the movie Kuttey. He is currently preparing to premiere his new television series, Taj-Divided By Blood. Dharmendra, Aditi Rao Hydari, and Taha Shah are also featured in the series. The Shah-starring film is scheduled to air on Zee5 on March 3.

Actress Kareena Kapoor has responded to the trend where some people are refusing to watch Bollywood movies. Kareena recently questioned how people will be entertained in the absence of movies during a function in Kolkata. Kareena was in Kolkata on Sunday for the Indian Chamber of Commerce-Young Leaders Forum event.

The “#Boycott Bollywood” campaign began last year, before a number of movies, including Laal Singh Chadha, Liger, Brahmastra, and Raksha Bandhan, were released. The tendency had an impact on some of the movies’ box office performance.

Kareena said, “I don’t agree with it at all. If that happens, how will we entertain, how will you have the joy and happiness in your life, which, I think everybody needs And which cinema and films are promising, which we have always done, which films have always done. Agar films nahi hogi toh entertainment kaisa hoga (If films aren’t there how will the people be entertained).”

Before Laal Singh Chaddha was released, Twitter users urged people not to see the film by trending the hashtag #BoycottLaalSinghChaddha. Many urged for boycotting movies like Liger, starring Vijay Deverakonda and Ananya Panday, and Brahmastra, featuring Ranbir Kapoor. But Brahmastra was one of the highest-grossing movies of 2022 because to its strong box office performance. Prior to the release of Pathaan, starring Deepika Padukone and Shah Rukh Khan, the trend once more began.

Kareena is working on a number of projects. She will next be seen in the suspenseful film The Devotion of Suspect X, directed by Sujoy Ghosh and based on the novel of the same name. Jaideep Ahlawat and Vijay Varma are also featured in the movie. In addition to that, she also has the upcoming, untitled movie from director Hansal Mehta.

In addition, she stars in the upcoming comedy The Crew with Tabu and Kriti Sanon. The faltering airline business serves as the backdrop for the Rajesh Krishnan-directed movie. Balaji Motion Pictures Limited and Anil Kapoor Productions will collaborate on the production of The Crew. It is scheduled to open for business in February 2023.
