ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court of Pakistan has fixed the murder case of eminent journalist and Bol News anchor Arshad Sharif for the hearing in suo motu notice.

A five-member bench headed by the Chief Justice will hear the murder of journalist Arshad Sharif tomorrow on a suo motu notice.

The hearing on the Arshad Sharif case will be held tomorrow at eleven o’clock in courtroom number one.

It should be noted that the Supreme Court has sought a report on the investigation in the UAE and Kenya from the special Joint Investigation Team(JIT) set up to investigate the Arshad Sharif murder case.

A few weeks ago, the JIT established in the murder case of a Pakistani journalist and senior Bol News anchor Arshad Sharif, returned to Pakistan after completing its investigation.
It should be noted that the five-member special JIT was headed by DIG Headquarters Awais Ahmed, while other officers included Deputy DG Sajid Kayani from IB and Muhammad Aslam from ISI.

Apart from this, Director Cybercrime FIA Waqaruddin Syed and Muhammad Afzal from MI are included while the five-member team, investigating inspector of the case Muhammad Shahbaz was also with the team in Dubai and Kenya.

A bus traveling to Nairobi, Kenya, collapsed shortly after entering Kenya from Uganda, according to authorities, resulting in at least 21 deaths and 49 injuries. This incident is the most recent in a string of catastrophic traffic incidents that have occurred recently.

Eight Ugandans and eight Kenyans were killed according to Rogers Taitika, spokesman for the Ugandan regional police, who spoke to the AFP news agency.

The bus, which was traveling from the city of Mbale in eastern Uganda to Nairobi, crashed late on Saturday in the Kenyan town of Lwakhakha, which is just across the border from a town with the same name in Uganda.

According to Taitika, the driver appeared to lose control, causing the car to drift off the road.

He continued, “Preliminary findings indicate a case of over-speeding by the bus driver.”

Following a recent spike in accidents in the East African nation of Uganda, the government is preparing to announce new initiatives to try to enhance road safety.

16 persons were killed on January 6 when a passenger bus plowed into a stopped truck close to the city of Gulu in northern Uganda.

In addition to the victims of the most recent incidents in January, the Ugandan police report that 104 road crashes were reported in just three days over the New Year holiday between December 30 and January 1, resulting in 35 deaths and 114 injuries.

At the funeral on January 2 for three siblings who died in a collision, security minister Jim Muhwezi said the cabinet was developing new safety measures to attempt to lower the frequency of accidents.
