Clock ticking for government

Clock ticking for government

Pakistan has always been in political distress and now the conditions are shoving the state towards a parlous catastrophe. Following Imran Khan’s announcement to call off the Azadi March and the ultimatum given to the government for the fresh polls, the clock has been ticking high for PML-N.

As, it has been looking like Imran Khan is the real hope for the people.

With PTI having fervent support of activists and workers lingering on roads to succor the political party, the announcement of calling off the march implied that both the camps are in accord at some point. The U-turn would not have been possible without a vow apparently from someone involved. The story goes that some settlement has been made between the two with the interference of some “outside” powers.

The announcement to abort the march took breaths away of many including the government’s main lead Rana Sanaullah who disappeared from the screens on the spur of the moment. And you cannot laud him for shooting himself in the foot. And then here is Imran Khan who announced that his storm will hit the capital again in case of no date announcement from his opposite camp. It is evident that PTI wants a date for early polls in June and the dissolution of the Assemblies, an extremely dangerous game that could have serious implications on the state and its already in dire straits economy.

Among all this brouhaha, the bail granted to Hafiz Shaikh has been taken as a reassuring move in the current political atmosphere as he can fill an important slot in the interim setup ensuring an alleged deal between the government and Imran Khan.

Surprisingly, when the nation was expecting some significant plans for the year-long tenure of PML-N, Shehbaz Sharif concluded his speech shortly with the announcement of a relief package for those living under the poverty line. In his maiden speech to the nation, PM strived to defend the government’s move and to toss the guilt towards Imran Khan by charging him with destroying the national economy.

With the weak coalition government in power, the Supreme Court taking stances in favour of PTI, the economy hugely crippled and Hafeez Shaikh’s interim bail, tables have turned fitting for Imran Khan. This is what seems to have the toughest row to hoe for the coalition government with looming uncertainty all over. The question that builds up in umpteen number of people that whether the government will succumb to the pressure. When the PM cannot even make a deal with the ones whose language he spoke to them in.

It has been more than a few weeks since the installation of the coalition government and things have taken a sharp turn for the worse with the latest announcement of the hike in petrol prices, the things have gone wild for PML-N.

The recent developments seemingly have jacked up the political uncertainty in the country with the former prime minister on a serious warpath against the incumbent government and the “neutrals”. The situation has pushed the country towards deepening mayhem.
