COAS Bajwa calls on PM Imran; discuss national, regional security

COAS meets PM Imran

Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa has on Monday called on Prime Minister Imran Khan in Islamabad.

During the meeting, Director General ISI Lt. Gen. Faiz Hamid was also present. Matters pertaining to national security were discussed during the meeting.

Earlier in a day, Prime Minister Imran Khan has called for developing a viable framework for equitable and affordable supply of Covid-19 vaccine to developing countries.

He virtually addressed the 4th Session of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development Intergovernmental Group of Experts on Financing for Development.

Imran Khan stressed on the world community to take measures for the return of stolen assets held by corrupt politicians and criminals.

He said the developed countries should meet the agreed target of mobilizing 100 billion dollars annually for climate action in developing countries.

Imran Khan said coverage of the COVAX facility must be expanded enabling the developing countries to spend their precious resources on socio-economic development needs.

Five terrorists including TTP commanders killed during IBO In North Waziristan: ISPR

Pakistan Army conducted two successful two intelligence based operations (IBO) in Mir Ali and Khaisur areas of North Waziristan.

According to a statement by Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), security forces conducted an IBO during which five terrorists including two terrorist commanders Syed Raheem and Saufullah Noor  of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) were killed.

Terrorist commander Syed Raheem remained involved in then terrorist activities against the security Forces from 2007, said ISPR.

ISPR further added, he was incharge of two suicide bombing centers in Wana and Mir Ali areas. He was tasked by hostile agencies for target killing, recruiting new terrorists and organizing them.

The terrorist commander was involved also involved in further terrorist activities during November 2020 till January 2021. He was involved in killing of four Maliks in Mir Ali area, three engineers working in a company in North Waziristan and many IEDs attacks.

Whereas, Commander Saifullah Noor was directly involved in different IED attacks on Security Forces in Khaisur, added ISPR.

Army Chief visits Sialkot garrison; lauds officers’ ‘devotion to defend’ Pakistan

Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa has on Wednesday visited Sialkot garrison and received a briefing on the current situation at the working boundary with India.

According to military’s media wing, Gen Bajwa “also interacted with garrison officers and men. He appreciated their professionalism and devotion to defend motherland in the face of multiple threats”.

Gen Bajwa “lauded them for their high morale and indomitable spirit”, the ISPR added.

The army chief was received by Corps Commander, Lt Gen Asim Munir on arrival.

Earlier on December 22, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa had paid a visit on Tuesday to the forward troops deployed along Line of Control (LOC).

In his visit, COAS had been briefed about latest situation including the Indian ceasefire violations (CFVs) where the hostile neighbor deliberately targeted innocent civilians along LOC.

He had also been briefed over the recent targeting of the UN vehicle by Indian troops against all international norms and conventions.

Balochistan: Sepoy embraces martyrdom thwarting terrorists’ attack on military post

Pakistan Army troops successfully shot down an Indian spying quadcopter today (Saturday) in Chakothi Sector along the Line of Control (LoC)

According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the quadcopter intruded 500 meters on Pakistan’s side of LoC.

Similarly, on January 1, 2021, another Indian quadcopter was shot down by Pakistan Army in Nausheri Sector the Line of Control, said ISPR. 

Earlier, a soldier of the Pakistan Army Naik Shoaib embraced shahadat after fighting off terrorists in Silak Kaur area near Balochistan’s Awaran district.

According to a statement by Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Security forces conducted an Intelligence Based Operation (IBO) regarding the presence of terrorists and their facilitators in Awaran district. In this regard, the forces conducted a search and clearance operation.

ISPR said that due to an “intense exchange of fire” with the terrorists during the operation, Naik Shoaib embraced martyrdom.

However, one terrorist was killed and one goes apprehended. The cache of arms, ammunition and communication equipment recovered from the hideout, said ISPR.

Strict action to be taken against anyone speaking against Pak Army

While speaking to the media on Saturday in Rawalpindi, the Interior Minister of Pakistan Sheikh Rasheed said that strict action will be taken within 72 hours against anyone using foul language against the Pak Army or other state institutions.

He also said that an online visa facility has been provided for 192 countries and added that 1.5 million Afghan refugees are allowed to live in Pakistan. He said two hundred thousand illegal cards have been blocked.

He added that two hundred thousand applications were received in a day for online visas.

Moreover, Rasheed also informed the media that 300 mobile vans of NADRA will visit areas across Pakistan to facilitate the masses.

“Eagle Squad, equipped with the latest technology, will soon be introduced for the security of Islamabad.”

Furthermore, he said that the passport of Nawaz Sharif is expiring on the 16th of next month and it will not be extended.

Above all, he warned that strict action will be taken against the people using derogatory remarks against the state institutions.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) has on Sunday paid tribute to the martyred soldiers in Balochistan terrorist attack.

In a Twitter message, Foreign Office spokesperson Zahid Hafiz Chaudhry strongly condemned the heinous act at Balochistan check-post by anti-Pakistan elements.

“We pay tribute to 7 soldiers who embraced shahadat during a terrorist attack on a check-post in Harnai, #Balochistan. Such heinous acts by anti-Pakistan elements will only further strengthen our resolve in our fight against the menace of terrorism,” the tweet read. 

Also, Prime Minister Imran Khan and President Dr Arif Alvi express deep grief over the martyrdom of FC officials. They prayed higher status for the martyred in heaven and commiserated with the bereaved families.

Taking to his Twitter, PM Imran extends deepest condolences to the families of the martyrs, saying “Our nation stands with our courageous soldiers”.

President Alvi commiserates with families of martyred FC soldiers

President Dr Arif Alvi has condemned terrorists’ attack on FC check post in Harnai area of Balochistan.

In a statement on Sunday, President Alvi expressed grief over the martyrdom of FC officials. He prayed higher status for the martyred in heaven and commiserated with the bereaved families.

Moreover, Prime Minister Imran Khan has expressed sorrow over the martyrdom of seven brave Pak-Army soldiers.

Taking to his Twitter, the Prime Minister extends deepest condolences to the families of the martyrs, saying “Our nation stands with our courageous soldiers”.

Terrorist fire raid on Frontier Corps Balochistan post in Sharig , Harnai, Balochistan late last night.

According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), during intense exchange of fire, seven brave soldiers embraced martyrdom while repulsing raiding terrorists.

Area has been cordoned off and escape routes have been blocked to apprehend fleeing miscreants, said ISPR.

A large scale search and clearance operation is in progress.

In a press release, the spokesperson of ISPR said, such cowardly acts by inimical elements backed by anti state forces will not be allowed to sabotage hard earned peace and prosperity in Balochistan.

Security forces are determined to thwart their nefarious designs at all costs, said the spokesperson.

Lance Naik Mehfooz Shaheed: Pak Army Remembers His Courage In The Battlefield

Lance Naik Muhammad Mehfooz Shaheed (Nishan-e-Haider), is being remembered on his 49th martyrdom anniversary.

To remember his services to the nation, Pakistan Army has paid tribute to Lance Naik Muhammad Mehfooz Shaheed.

Inter-services Public Relation (ISPR) tweeted, “Nation venerates supreme sacrifice of Lance Naik Muhammad #Mehfooz Shaheed, Nishan-e- Haider @ Wagah Border in 1971. His courage and extremely daring actions in the battlefield are a sublime precedent worth emulating by all defenders of motherland. #OurMartyrsOurHeroes”

ISPR says his courage and extremely daring actions on the battlefield will always be remembered by the nation. 

More about Mehfooz Shaheed:

Muhammad Mehfooz was born on October 25, 1944 in Pind Malikan (now Mahfuzabad), Rawalpindi district.

He was enlisted in the Army on 25 October 1962. Serving in A Company of 15 Punjab Regiment when war broke out in 1971, Lance Naik Mehfooz was deployed on the Wagha-Attari Sector where his company was pinned down by unceasing frontal and crossfire from automatic weapons.

Although his machine gun was destroyed by an enemy shell, Muhammad Mahfuz advanced towards an enemy bunker whose automatic fire had inflicted heavy casualties.

During the attack, a bomb exploded near Mehfooz Shaheed in which he got badly injured and his machine-gun became out of order.

He crawled into a nearby trench of a  shaheed firer and got hold of his to machine-gun and started firing. Meanwhile, he noticed that an enemy machine-gun was effectively engaging his own troops. Muhammad Mehfooz crawled towards the enemy trench and on reaching within 10 yards charged on it. He caught the enemy firer by his neck and pushed him to death.

Although unarmed, he got hold of the enemy and did another bayonet strangling with him. Due to serious injuries, he embraced martyrdom on the night of 17 December 1971.

On March 23, 1972, the Pakistan Government in recognition of the bravery of Lance Naik Muhammad Mehfooz Shaheed, awarded him with the top military award ‘Nishan-e-Haider.’

Cooperation, synchronization needed to tackle battlefield challenges: COAS

Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa has on Wednesday visited the field exercise area near Gujranwala.

The Army Chief on the occasion said that Pakistan Armed Forces, with the support of our great nation, are fully prepared to vanquish threats in all domains.

Air Chief Mujahid Anwar Khan also accompanied the Army Chief during his visit.

General Qamar Javed Bajwa lauded the professionalism of Army Air Defence and expressed complete satisfaction on operational readiness.

The Army Chief emphasized that there is a need for greater cooperation, integration and synchronization to tackle complex and fluid battlefield challenges that lie ahead.

Army Chief and Air Chief witnessed ongoing field exercise, where concepts related to optimum use of Long Range Air Defence weapon systems and airspace management were practised.

The exercise manifested the concept of Comprehensive Layered Integrated Air Defence in which Air Defence weapons of all regimes were incorporated.

The exercise was particularly aimed at achieving synergy amongst Air Defence elements, manoeuvring forces and all aerial platforms including fighter aircraft helicopters and drones, thereby mastering response against any misadventure by the enemy.

COAS hails Sindh Rangers’ contributions in maintaining Karachi stability

Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa has on Saturday attended the 48th Basic Aviation Security Force (ASF) Passing out Parade in Karachi.

Addressing the parade at Airport Security Force Academy, COAS Bajwa said that training of ASF trainees will enhance the standards of the aviation security in Pakistan.

He also expressed satisfaction with the training and performance of the ASF trainees and also appreciated participation of women in the force.

The Army Chief also congratulated the trainees and their families and distributed the prizes among the position holders.

Upon his arrival, Major General Zafar-UI-Haq, Director General Airport Security Force attended COAS Bajwa at the Academy.

However, a large number of serving and retired officials along with their families witnessed the parade.

Later, he visited Headquarters Pakistan Rangers Sindh, where he was received by Major General Omer Ahmed Bokhari.

During his interaction at the HQ, Gen. Bajwa appreciated the contributions of Sindh Rangers in maintaining peace and stability in Karachi and paid homage to their sacrifices.

He also laid floral wreath on Yadgar-e-Shuhuda.
