Pakistani celebrities have spoken out in favour of Palestine’s independence as the death toll in Gaza rose to 436 as a result of Israel’s ferocious airstrikes in retaliation for Hamas attacks.

As of Monday, 81 children and 61 women have died in Gaza, and more than 2,000 people have been injured.

The most recent clashes broke out when Hamas launched a surprise attack on Israel on Saturday, killing Israeli troops and kidnapping civilian and military leaders, including some foreigners.

People from all around the world have been speaking out about the attack and urging international leaders to take action while the conflict has gone on.

A number of Pakistani celebrities, including Saba Qamar, Yumna Zaidi, and Dananeer Mobeen, expressed their continued support for Palestine on social media.

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan on Saturday while voicing concerns about the human cost of the escalating situation in the Middle East, called on the international community to come together for cessation of hostilities, protection of civilians and for a lasting peace in the region.

“We are closely monitoring the unfolding situation in the Middle East and the eruption of hostilities between Israel and Palestinians,” the Foreign Office Spokesperson said. Pakistan has consistently advocated for a two-state solution as the key to enduring peace in the Middle East, with a just, comprehensive and lasting solution to the Palestinian question anchored in international law and in line with relevant United Nations and OIC resolutions.

“A viable, sovereign and contiguous State of Palestine should be established on the basis of pre-1967 borders, with Al Quds Al-Sharif as its capital,” it was reiterated.

Earlier, Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar said that he was heartbroken by the escalating violence in the Middle East which underscored the urgent need to address ‘the Palestine Question’.

ISLAMABAD: :Special Assistant to Prime Minister of Pakistan on Human Rights and Women Empowerment, Mushaal Hussain Malik  expressed deep concern over the human rights situation in occupied Kashmir and said that India is violating international law as well as international norms by denying Kashmiris their right to self-determination.

“The world powers have a responsibility to play their role in putting pressure on India to resolve the issue of Kashmir for regional peace and stability”, she demanded while talking to a private news channel.

The Kashmir valley has turned into the largest prison in the world, she said, adding, that there were over two dozen UN resolutions that support the Kashmiris’ right to self-determination.
