Two terrorists killed in separate operations in KP: ISPR

RAWALPINDI: Two terrorists were killed in separate operations conducted by security forces in two in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

According to the Inter Public Services Public Relations(ISPR), an intelligence based operation (IBO) was conducted in Khyber district.

During the conduct of operation, after an intense exchange of fire, terrorist ring leader Shamrooz alias Sheenay, was sent to hell by the security forces.

In another operation conducted by the security forces in Dera Ismail Khan district where a terrorist Mansoor was also successfully neutralized.

The statement said weapons, ammunition & explosives were also recovered from the killed terrorists, who remained actively involved in numerous terrorist activities against security forces as well as extortion & target killings of innocent civilians, and were highly wanted by the law enforcement agencies.

Sanitization operations are being conducted to eliminate any other terrorist found in the area.

Eight killed in rain related incidents in KP

PESHAWAR: The prolong spell of rain started from Thursday evening has claimed around eight lives in different parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Apart from humans, reports about perishing of livestock have also been received from authorities of Rescue 1122 KP.

The deceased include five children, a woman and two men who died because of caving in of roofs of their houses.

Three children died in Kandao Mamond when roof of the collapsed due to persistent rain. The children died instantly after being buried under the debris and their bodies were extricated by Rescue 1122 staffers.

In Lower Dir district, three persons of a family including husband, wife and daughter, died at Molay Khat area in Talash when landslide fell on their house.

A total of four persons got trapped under the rubble out of whom three died and one is in hospital getting treatment.

The rescue operation continued amid heavy rain for around three and a half hours after which the trapped persons were extricated from the rubble.

The dead have been identified as Zahid son of Sher Mola (25 years), wife of Zahid (23 years), Harira (5 years) whereas, a child, Tafla Arham is injured.

In Batkhela area at village Aladand Dehrai, a woman along with her daughter died due to caving in of roof of their house.

The family of Noor Rehman, his spouse and their three daughter became buried under the debris after falling of house ceiling.

Peshawar: The name of Suraya Bibi has been finalized for the Deputy Speaker of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly.

According to Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf(PTI) sources, the PTI founder wants a woman to be given the post of Deputy Speaker, due to which Suraya Bibi’s name has been finalized.

Suraya Bibi has won general seat from 1 Chitral of PK, she is also Vice President of Malakand Women Wing of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf(PTI)  and Social Worker while Suraya Bibi holds Master’s Degree in Sociology.

On the other hand,  Suraya Bibi, an independent running for the PK-1 Chitral seat in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, has created history by becoming first ever female member assembly from Chitral.

Suraya Bibi has emerged as the first female elected from Chitral to the provincial assembly seat with almost 8,000 votes, she defeated Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Pakistan-Fazl’s Shakeel Ahmed.

PESHAWAR: Former Defence Minister Pervez Khattak has resigned from the chairmanship and membership of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) parliamentarians.

Pervez Khattak submitted his resignation to the Central Executive Committee through the General Secretary. He resigned from both the chairmanship and membership of the party.

Pervez Khattak has said in his resignation that he is resigning due to health problems and cannot fulfill his responsibilities for the party due to health reasons.

The Central Executive Committee of PTI Parliamentarians accepted the resignation of Pervez Khattak.

It should be noted that last year Pervez Khattak separated from Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf(PTI) and formed a party in the name of PTI Parliamentarians.

Strong earthquake hits Islamabad, other cities

ISLAMABAD: Earthquake tremors were felt in various cities of the country, including Islamabad, Punjab, and cities of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Earthquake tremors were also felt in Kohat, Sargodha, Abbottabad, and other cities. Earthquake tremors were also felt in Khushab and Charsadda.

Similarly, earthquake tremors were also felt in Dera Ismail Khan, Bannu, Hangu, Diamer, Parachinar, Mandi Bahauddin, Bhakkar, Nowshera, Muzaffarabad, Neelum Valley Azad Kashmir, earthquake tremors were also felt in Sheikhupura, Pakpattan and Gujranwala.

The seismological center said the magnitude of the earthquake was recorded as 6.0, the epicenter of which was the Hindukush Region in Afghanistan at a depth of  213 km.

Due to the earthquake, a large number of people came out of their homes and offices, but no loss of life or property has been reported yet.

KARACHI: The heavy fog badly affected flight operations in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province as several incoming flights were diverted to other airports.

At least 28 domestic and foreign flights were canceled due to continuous foggy weather in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

According to civil aviation sources, 211 flights have been canceled in the first week of the new year due to bad weather.

According to the flight schedule, the Dubai Islamabad flight landed in Lahore the Sharjah Islamabad flight landed in Karachi, while the private airline’s Muscat to Sialkot flight landed in Lahore.
