A comment on Shah Rukh Khan’s movie Pathaan sparked a viral Twitter back-and-forth between actor Kangana Ranaut and actor and influencer Uorfi Javed.

It all started with Kangana Ranaut’s comment on an appreciation post for Shah Rukh Khan, which claimed, “Hindu Muslims love SRK equally” and that “India is super secular.”

“Very good analysis… this country has only and only loved all Khans and at times only and only Khans…And obsessed over Muslim actresses, so it’s very unfair to accuse India of hate and fascism … there is no country like Bharat in the whole world,” Kangana Ranaut commented on a post by a Bollywood director.

On Friday, Kangana Ranaut discussed Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan in a string of tweets. After the movie’s release on Wednesday, the actor, who had previously lauded it, reversed course and questioned “all those who are claiming Pathaan is a triumph of love over hatred.” This came after the movie shattered box office records by earning 106 crore on its first day globally. In response to someone who claimed that Pathaan was the solution to everyone who keeps asking, “Who can lead the country, if not Prime Minister Narendra Modi?

After her 2020 ban was removed, Kangana has made a comeback on social media. Kangana recently tweeted on Pathaan’s box office success, “The love of India has defeated adversaries’ petty politics and their hatred. Lekin (but) if you have great hopes, please take care… The movie “Pathan Sirf” is now playing. Jai Shri Ram, goonjega toh yahan sirf… Pathaan is simply a movie; the nation will only hear screams of “Jai Shri Ram” instead.” Kangana Ranaut appeared to respond to Karan Johar’s recent comment that “love trumps hate” after Pathaan’s opening day box office haul smashed records. The actor then appeared to take aim at those who believed PM Modi might be replaced by Shah Rukh’s Pathaan.

On Friday, she responded to a Twitter user, who wrote, “I think 2023 has finally given the answer to (the question) – ‘Modi nahin toh kaun (If not Narendra Modi, then who can lead the country)???’ The answer is Pathaan.” Kangana tweeted in response, “Warning: If film industry doesn’t want to bear the brunt of political propaganda then they should condemn such propaganda using their films. Tum khelo toh game hai hum khelein toh shame hai, aisa nahi chalega bhai… baad mein mat rona hum toh artistes hai, abhi se aukat mein raho (if they play then it is a game, if we play then it is shame. Artistes should stay in their lane now itself and not cry later).”

She also responded to a tweet that read, “I don’t think the movie is great or pathbreaking in terms of script and making – but the response in terms of reactions and collections is slap in the faces of those who have been after Bollywood for no rhyme or reason. It is a silent revolt by the public against the RW (Right Wing) brigade.” Kangana reacted to it, tweeting, “If success of Pathaan is openly and shamelessly associated with success of Left Wing politics, which is associated with a party (Congress) then why film industry cries foul if Right Wing ideology opposes them? First decide whether films/ art is political or not.. .If yes then fight opposition righteously aisa nahi ho sakta (it cannot be so that) when you win toh you make films political and rub in our faces and when we win you cry foul and shame us by calling us RW bigots who are exploiting art for political agenda… logic ki maa bahen mat karo sudhar jao (don’t abuse logic, correct your ways now).”

At the wrap-up party for her next movie Emergency, actress Kangana Ranaut mentioned Pathaan. In a joint press conference with her Emergency co-stars Anupam Kher and Satish Kaushik, Kangana remarked that she hopes the action movie, which also stars Deepika Padukone and John Abraham, “absolutely works.”

Kangana said, “Pathaan acha kar rahi hai. According to a PTI report, industry insiders predicted that the Shah Rukh Khan movie Pathaan will make between 45 and 50 crore at the box office. The Yash Raj Films production, which sees Shah Rukh return to acting in a leading role following his 2018 feature Zero, came out on Wednesday, the day before Republic Day, giving the Hindi movie an extra five days for its opening weekend.

On January 20, advance reservations for Pathaan were available. According to trade expert Taran Adarsh, Pathaan would revitalise Bollywood and usher in a glorious 2023 for the film business, which has recently seen a difficult time due to the Covid-19 outbreak and other factors. “The movie will have a record-breaking opening day at the box office, bringing in between 45 and 50 crore. Atul Mohan, a trade analyst, had previously stated that 90,000 tickets had been sold overall on the first day of advance booking. He claims that as of January 19 at 9 p.m., PVR had sold 35,000 tickets, INOX had sold 30,000, and Cinepolis had sold 25,000. “The trend is that advance bookings are at their best on the first day, and then it peaks on the day before release,” he told Hindustan Times. It is safe to assume that the shows are excellent. Pathaan is currently playing on four out of every five screens at most venues, including Cinepolis, PVR, and INOX, etc.

Following her return to Twitter on Tuesday, Kangana Ranaut stated that the film industry is “crass,” where an art project’s success is purportedly determined by the amount of money it generates. Kangana made her statement on the day Shah Rukh Khan’s highly anticipated movie Pathaan was released. Pathaan is set to have a record-breaking opening on Wednesday.

Wednesday morning, Kangana posted a message on Twitter that read, “Film industry is so crass and crude that whenever they want to project success of any endeavor/creation/art they throw flashing currency digits in your face, as if art has no other purpose.. it exposes their lowly standards and the kind of deprived lives they live.”

She added that the reason artists are revered is because film is not produced for “huge economic advantages” like other sectors. “Primitively art grew in temples and eventually reached literature/theatres and inside films,” she wrote. Despite being a sector of the economy, art and artists are revered rather than industrialists and billionaires since they are not built for significant economic advantages like other billion- and trillion-dollar firms. So even if artists delight in defiling the nation’s very fabric of culture and art, they must do so subtly rather than blatantly, she continued.

Following a two-year suspension for “multiple violations” of Twitter’s hateful conduct and abusive behaviour policy, Kangana’s account was reinstated on Tuesday. She published demands from numerous Twitter users asking Elon Musk to reinstate her account after he assumed control of the social media platform.

After her 2019 movie Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi, which went on to gross 92 crore at the domestic box office, Kangana has yet to experience a significant commercial triumph. Since then, she has acted in the films Panga, Thalaivii, and Dhaakad, however none of them were commercially successful.

The performer has been working on Emergency, her debut solo film, since last year. She recently disclosed that she had mortgaged her home to finance the movie. In the movie, she portrays former prime minister Indira Gandhi.

After wrapping off the filming for her upcoming movie Emergency, Kangana Ranaut posted some photos to Instagram. The actor-director said in her article that she had to mortgage her home in order to make the movie. Kangana will play the late Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in the movie Emergency.

In three photos from the set, Kangana can be seen speaking on a microphone while seated behind the camera while wearing the same hair and makeup as the late Indira Gandhi. She noted in the caption that she had to mortgage every piece of property she owned to make sure the movie was finished. Additionally, she disclosed that she contracted dengue while shooting the first schedule. Kangana thanked the crew in the post and assured her fans that she is now in a “secure place,” so they don’t need to be concerned.

In 2021, Kangana announced her movie Emergency. It was written by Ritesh Shah, who also wrote the screenplay for Kangana’s recent box office dud, Dhaakad. In addition to Kangana, other prominent actors in the movie include Anupam Kher, Milind Soman, Mahima Chaudhry, Satish Kaushik, and Shreyas Talpade. Now that Twitter is “ideologically motivated,” Kangana Ranaut has declared her support for it, calling it the “greatest social media site.” On Sunday, Kangana criticised the Twitter verification process on Instagram Stories. Kangana said that maintaining a Twitter account for a fee “would only help it establish its integrity.”

Kangana wrote, “Twitter is the best social media platform that is there right now, it is intellectually / ideologically motivated not about looks or lifestyle, I could never understand the idea of verification that some selected few get, as if others don’t have an authentic existence, for example, I will get verified but if my father wants a blue tick then 3-4 clowns will dismiss his very identity as if he is living some illegal life… Everyone who has an Aadhar card must get varied simple as that ( cont).”

Kangana Ranaut has said that she will post more “masala” content on Twitter if she is allowed to come back after her ‘lifetime ban.’ Last year, Kangana’s controversial posts got her kicked off the microblogging site. Now that Elon Musk has taken over the platform, her fans hope that she will come back once she is no longer banned.

At a recent Aaj Tak event in Himachal Pradesh, Kangana stated that she could not remain on Twitter for even a year. Instagram has also sent her three warnings for her posts in the meanwhile.

“I was there on Twitter for one year and Twitter couldn’t tolerate me for even a year… I have completed one year on Instagram in May and I have already received three warnings. So I said I will not use Instagram. My team has taken over and now everything is good. Nobody has a problem with it.”

“If I come back on Twitter, then people’s lives will become sensational and my life will become problematic because cases are filed against me in different states. I’m happy that I’m not there on Twitter. But if my account is revived, then definitely… you will get a lot of ‘masala’,” said the actor.
