Sunny Deol Eager To Collaborate With Alia Bhatt For Potential Project

Sunny Deol is currently basking in the remarkable success of his recent release Gadar 2. The film has already surpassed the Rs 460 crore mark at the Indian box office and is aiming for a lifetime collection exceeding Rs 500 crore. The audience has embraced the sequel to the 22-year-old movie, lauding Sunny’s charm and his on-screen chemistry with lead actress Ameesha Patel. Following the movie’s release, which coincided with the success of Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, starring Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt, Sunny has expressed his desire to collaborate with Alia. He also commented on her recent win at the National Awards.

During a recent conversation with Zoom, Sunny Deol was asked about a female actor he would like to work with. He mentioned Alia Bhatt’s name and highlighted that their collaboration need not be limited to roles where they play romantic leads. He stated, “I like Alia Bhatt a lot. It will be interesting to do a film with her. I’m not saying as hero-heroine or opposite (each other), I’m talking it could be anything like a daughter-father.”

Alia recently secured the Best Actress Award at the 69th National Film Awards for her exceptional portrayal of the titular character in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Gangubai Kathiawadi. Sunny’s response to this achievement was, “Very good for her because she deserves it.”

Alia Bhatt’s Exit Delays Shooting Of Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana: Report

Alia Bhatt has reportedly withdrawn from Nitesh Tiwari’s cinematic adaptation of Ramayana. According to reports, scheduling conflicts prevented Alia from participating in the project. She was under consideration for the role of Sita in the film, which also features her real-life partner Ranbir Kapoor as Ram, and there were discussions about Kannada star Yash portraying Ravana. The report indicates that the film’s production launch has also experienced a delay. A source disclosed to Pinkvilla that the production team is meticulously refining all aspects of the project. The source shared, “While Ranbir Kapoor is still committed to the role of Lord Ram, Alia Bhatt, who was in discussions for the project, is no longer associated with it. The actress was being considered for the part of Goddess Sita, but due to date conflicts, the collaboration couldn’t proceed.”

The source also affirmed that Yash remains involved in the project, counteracting earlier rumors of his departure. In July, Nitesh Tiwari was questioned about the cast of his film, to which he neither confirmed nor denied the participation of Ranbir, Alia, and Yash. He simply mentioned that the official announcement would be made “very soon.” Addressing potential offense arising from the film, Nitesh expressed, “My question is very simple. I am also a consumer of the content that I create and if I’m not going to offend myself than I’m very confident that I might not end up offending anybody else.” He made this statement in light of the controversy surrounding Om Raut’s recent adaptation of Ramayana, Adipurush.

Earlier, Kangana Ranaut also shared her reaction to the casting of Ranbir and Yash in the movie. On Instagram, she wrote, “Recently I am hearing news about another coming up Bolly Ramayana… Where a skinny white rat (so-called actor) who desperately needs some sun tan and conscience he is infamous for doing nasty underhand PR about almost everyone in the industry… known for womanising and drug addiction after desperately trying to prove himself Lord Shiva in a trilogy (which no one watched or want to make more parts of) has now grown fancy to be Lord Rama…”

She continued, “Whereas a young southern superstar who is known to be self-made, a devoted family man a traditionalist also according to Valmiki ji description he looks more like Lord Rama in his complexion, demeanour and facial features… is offered to play Ravana…What kind of Kalyuga is this??” Kangana is working on her own film based on Ramayana, titled Sita: The Incarnation.

In a recent interview, the Heart Of Stone actress shared that her perspective on the human body’s capabilities shifted after giving birth to Raha. She also reminisced about her prior body criticism and revealed the advice she would offer her younger self.

During a recent interview, Alia Bhatt expressed her astonishment at the incredible capabilities of the human body after becoming a mother. “One of the things I was so surprised by was how miraculous the human body is,” she remarked. Alia went on to elaborate, “How it supports you, takes care of you, and what it’s capable of doing. It’s so beautiful and also, so much work.”

She went on to remember being “critical” of her body in her youth. “When I was younger, I was a bit critical of my body, but this is what I’d tell my younger self: you have years ahead of you. Don’t worry about the way your body looks.” Previously, during a panel discussion with journalist Barkha Dutt for We The Women, Alia had shared her struggles with body image. “Because I’m facing the camera, I’ve been very hard on myself through the years with regard to my food, the dieting, the weight, and the way I’m looking,” she had conveyed. She added that she would advise her 18-year-old self not to be too harsh on herself.

Regarding her professional endeavours, Alia Bhatt recently starred alongside Ranveer Singh in Karan Johar’s Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani. Karan Johar has now revealed his reasoning behind casting Jaya Bachchan in this role.

During a recent interview with an Indian publication, Karan was questioned about his decision to cast the veteran actress in a ‘nasty’ role. He candidly shared that this choice was deliberate, aimed at offering her a departure from her traditionally positive roles. Karan stated, “It was actually to cast against type. She has such a wonderful image on and off the screen. She is a mother figure to me. So, when I wanted to cast against type, I thought it would be a great role for her to go against what she has done. Once again, Ranbir Kapoor is being labelled a ‘red flag’ by the internet following a recent revelation made by his wife, Alia Bhatt, about their relationship dynamic. In a new video for Vogue India, Alia shared her approach to applying lipstick, emphasizing her preference for a faded and minimal look because her husband “doesn’t like it.” Demonstrating the unconventional technique of moving her lips on the lipstick instead of gliding it on, Alia explained that this method works best for her. She then proceeds to almost entirely remove the lipstick from her lips to achieve the faded appearance. Alia elaborated, “Because one thing my husband…when he wasn’t my husband but when he was my boyfriend as well… he would be like ‘wipe that off, wipe that off’ because he loves the natural color of my lips.”

While Alia intended to share an endearing detail about her relationship with Ranbir, many interpreted it differently. Several individuals referred to him as a ‘red flag,’ a term the internet uses to describe individuals who might not contribute to healthy relationships. A comment on the matter expressed concern: “The more I hear about Ranbir Kapoor, the more I feel scared for her. If your boyfriend/husband is telling you to wipe off your lipstick, that’s the biggest sign for you to run! It’s not cute or funny at all! I can’t believe India’s most celebrated actress is going through this.”

Another person commented, “I would never allow a guy who asks me to wipe off my lipstick anywhere close to me.” Criticisms also emerged regarding Alia’s frequent references to her wedding and husband in interviews: “My husband, my wedding – girl, catch a breath. It’s not cute anymore. Does she really have nothing substantial to talk about? And literally anything she says about Ranbir just portrays him as such an unlikable personality. Reema Kagti, co-founder of Tiger Baby Films, has confirmed that the highly anticipated movie “Jee Le Zaraa,” co-directed by Zoya Akhtar, will indeed feature Priyanka Chopra, alongside Katrina Kaif and Alia Bhatt in lead roles. Kagti stated in an interview, “Jee Le Zaraa will go on floors with the same cast.” The film will be directed by Farhan Akhtar, who somewhat fueled the speculations about the film’s delay by announcing “Don 3” earlier this week, a project in which Ranveer Singh replaces Shah Rukh Khan.

Rumours had circulated suggesting that Priyanka Chopra might have left “Jee Le Zaraa” due to the film’s delay. According to a source cited by Hindustan Times, Chopra’s unavailability to shoot in 2023 due to her Hollywood commitments led her to ask if filming could be postponed to the following year. However, scheduling conflicts emerged as Alia Bhatt was already committed to other projects in 2024. Despite Priyanka Chopra’s departure, the source emphasized there was no animosity between her and the team.

Regarding Priyanka’s replacement, the source indicated that no decision had been made yet and that the makers would start exploring options.

In a recent interview with India Today, Zoya Akhtar affirmed that the film was not cancelled, stating, “We’re just waiting for the dates.” Earlier in March, Farhan Akhtar had also affirmed his preparations for the film, sharing a picture on Instagram of him walking in a desert landscape, captioned, “Searching for gold #locationscout #jeelezaraa #rajasthan.”

During an interview with film critic Sucharita Tyagi, Karan Johar revealed, “Shah Rukh did the most defining scene for me in Ae Dil Hai Mushkil and for that, I will always be very grateful to him. I can’t keep using my privilege with Shah Rukh. I can’t push it.”

Recalling Shah Rukh’s unwavering commitment during an 18-day shoot for “Brahmastra,” without any monetary compensation, Johar elaborated, “He just gave his heart, time, body everything for that sequence. It was a large sequence. If I go again to him, it will be too much. Shah Rukh never says no to me. But I can’t keep going to him. I think you need to keep that card very close. I will use it because I have that kind of access to Mr Khan but I don’t want to keep using it for no reason.”

It’s worth noting that Karan Johar produced “Brahmastra,” directed by Ayan Mukerji, which stars Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor.

“Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani” marks Karan Johar’s return to the director’s chair after a hiatus of seven years. His previous directorial venture was the 2016 film “Ae Dil Hai Mushkil,” starring Ranbir Kapoor and Anushka Sharma.

The film has not only crossed the 100-crore mark at the Indian box office but also amassed over Rs. 200 crores globally. The Bollywood romantic comedy family drama, “Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani” directed by Karan Johar, is making waves at the international box office. With Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh in the lead roles, the film has witnessed a remarkable second weekend overseas, adding USD 3.40 million to its total and bringing the international earnings close to USD 10.50 million. The movie’s outstanding hold in the second week, dropping just 20 percent, is a rarity among major Bollywood releases. Alongside its impressive domestic collection of approximately Rs. 120 crores, the film has crossed the coveted milestone of Rs. 200 crores worldwide. Its strong momentum indicates the potential to surpass USD 15 million in the international market, and a final worldwide total of Rs. 300 crores is within reach, depending on its performance against the upcoming competition.

North America Box Office: The film’s best hold came in North America, where it experienced a minimal drop of less than 5 percent, grossing USD 1.64 million in its second weekend and reaching a total gross of USD 4.72 million. This places “Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani” in the sixth position for the highest second-weekend collections for a Bollywood film in North America. The movie’s strong performance is evident as it climbed from outside the top 20 during its first weekend. With an estimated projection of over USD 7 million, the film is expected to continue its success in this region.

Middle East Box Office: After a slow start, the Middle East rebounded well, contributing USD 2.28 million to the film’s overseas earnings as of Sunday. The UAE market, in particular, has been exceptional, with a decline of just 25 percent from the first weekend. This is noteworthy considering the market’s frontloaded nature compared to others in the region.

Australia and United Kingdom Box Office: Australia and the United Kingdom also showcased strong performance with a second-weekend drop of only 25 percent. However, the film’s potential was limited by poor distribution, resulting in a significant reduction in screen count during the second week. Despite this setback, “Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani” managed to remain close to grossing a million in both territories.
