Hussain Nawaz, Hassan Nawaz reach Lahore

LAHORE: Hussain Nawaz and Hassan Nawaz, sons of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz(PML-N) leader Nawaz Sharif and brothers of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, have reached Lahore from London.

According to sources, PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif welcomed his two sons on reaching Jati Umra.

It should be noted that Hussain Nawaz and Hassan Nawaz were present in London for a long time. In the past few days, requests for suspension of the arrest warrant of Nawaz Sharif’s sons Hassan Nawaz and Hussain Nawaz were filed in the Accountability Court of Islamabad in 3 references.

The lawyer of Hassan Nawaz and Hussain Nawaz said both want to come to Pakistan on March 12 and appear in the accountability court.

Later, the accountability court suspended the permanent arrest warrants of Hassan Nawaz and Hussain Nawaz.

The court suspended the perpetual arrest warrants of both in the Al-Azizia, Flagship and Avonfield references till March 14.

Nawaz Sharif directs PM to start implementing party manifesto

LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supremo Nawaz Sharif directed the party president and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to form the cabinet soon and start implementing the manifesto.

An important meeting of the party was held under the chairmanship of PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif in which the senior leadership of PML-N including Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif was present.

Important national and political issues were discussed in the informal consultation of the PML-N leadership.

According to the sources, Nawaz Sharif told Shahbaz Sharif that the Prime Minister should form the cabinet soon and start implementing the manifesto.

Sources said that Nawaz Sharif also said that Pakistan is currently facing challenges like a mountain and people have high expectations from PML-N while the reduction in inflation is also inevitable.

Sources said that in the meeting there was a consultation on including the Pakistan People’s Party in the federal cabinet and on this occasion, Shahbaz Sharif said that he will request Asif Zardari again after he is elected as the president.

ISLAMABAD: President of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz(PML-N)  Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif took the oath as the Prime Minister of Pakistan.

President Dr Arif Alvi administered the oath of office to the newly-elected prime minister, who was elected to the country’s top office for the second time.

Held at the Aiwan-e-Sadr, the swearing-in ceremony was attended by Outgoing Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar and his cabinet members, parliamentarians, Chairman of Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, services chiefs, provincial governors, chief ministers and diplomats.

Pakistan Muslim League-N Quaid Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, President of Pakistan Peoples Party Parliamentarians Asif Ali Zardari, Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, other political leaders including Hamza Shehbaz Sharif,  Aleem Khan, Raja Zafarul Haq, Ahsan Iqbal, and Khawaja Muhammad Asif and senior officers also attended the ceremony.

After the swearing in of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, he was presented a guard of honor by the armed forces at the Prime Minister House.

Later, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif was introduced to the staff of the Prime Minister’s Office, during which the Prime Minister shook hands with the staff.

Anwar Haq Kakar, former caretaker Prime Minister, will also meet Shehbaz Sharif.

Gustasap Khan wins NA-15 Mansehra, defeats Nawaz Sharif

MANSEHRA: Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) backed candidate Gustasap Khan defeated Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supremo Nawaz Sharif from NA-15 Mansehra.

The Returning Officer(RO) has issued Form 49 for National Assembly Constituency NA-15.

In Form 49 issued by the returning officers, PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif was defeated by PTI-backed candidate Gustasap Khan.

Gustasap Khan got 105,259 votes and former prime minister Nawaz Sharif was second with 80,413 votes.

It should be noted that former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had challenged the election result of National Assembly Constituency NA-15 Mansehra when his plea was also rejected which he had requested re-election in the constituency.

ECP rejects Nawaz Sharif’s plea for re-election in NA-15 Mansehra

ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has rejected the plea of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Nawaz Sharif request for re-election in NA-15 Mansehra.

The ECP had reserved its decision yesterday on the request of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif regarding the re-election on NA-15 Mansehra, which was announced on Wednesday.

The ECP rejected the petition of PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif in the election excuse case and directed him to approach the Election Tribunal.

The Election Commission has ordered the Returning Officer to compile the final result of the constituency within three days.

It should be noted that Nawaz Sharif was defeated by an independent candidate backed by Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) from NA-15 Mansehra in the general elections.

PTI-backed independent candidate Gustasub Khan got 105,249 votes and Nawaz Sharif got 80,382 votes.

PML-N summons NA parliamentary parting meeting on tomorrow

LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) called a meeting of the parliamentary party in the National Assembly on February 28(tomorrow).

According to party sources, the meeting of the parliamentary party will be held on February 28 at 3 o’clock in the Parliament House, which will be presided over by party leader Nawaz Sharif, while Nawaz Sharif will host a dinner in honor of the newly elected members at the Punjab House.

Sources said that the decision to nominate Shahbaz Sharif as the Prime Minister will be confirmed in the meeting and during this the strategy of the National Assembly session on February 29 will be finalized.

On this occasion, the coalition parties will support the decision to make Shehbaz Sharif the Prime Minister.

ECP reserved verdict Nawaz’s on NA-15 Mansehra poll plea

ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) reserved its decision on Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz(PML-N) supremo Nawaz Sharif’s request for re-election in NA-15 Mansehra.

In the ECP, a hearing was held on the request of  PML-N  leader Nawaz Sharif regarding National Assembly Constituency NA-15 Mansehra, in which former prime minister’s lawyer Jahangir Jadoon gave arguments in the commission while Captain(Retd) Safdar was also present on the occasion.

During the hearing, Jahangir Jadoon told the commission that PML-N had requested the RO report on February 15 and we were presented with the RO report of 650 pages and the case will now be on the record of the RO report.

Jahangir Jadoon said that according to the report of the RO, petitioner Nawaz Sharif got more than 82,000 votes and the opposing candidate got more than 105,000 votes while the rejected votes were 9082. There were a total of 550 polling stations. The results of 123 polling stations were not received, and Form 45 was not given to us by the presiding officer.

During the hearing, Nawaz Sharif’s lawyer Jahangir Jadoon requested re-election in NA-15 Mansehra

The lawyer pleaded that the result has been affected due to record tampering on NA-15, so the election of NA-15 should be declared null and void.

Yasmin Rashid challenges Nawaz Sharif’s victory from NA-130

LAHORE: The victory of PML-N leader Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif was challenged by National Assembly Constituency NA 130 Lahore.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf-backed independent candidate Dr Yasmin Rashid’s lawyer Ishtiaq Chaudhry has filed a petition against the victory of Nawaz Sharif in the Lahore High Court.

In the petition, the Returning Officer and the Election Commission of Pakistan, among others, have been made parties. It has been argued that Nawaz Sharif has lost the election as per Form 45.

Yasmin Rashid alleged in her petition that Nawaz Sharif colluded and declared himself the winner in Form 47, the court should order the release of results as per Form 45.

It should be remembered that according to the unofficial results of Constituency NA 130 Lahore 14, Muhammad Nawaz Sharif of Pakistan Muslim League-N won with 171,024 votes while Yasmeen Rashid was second with 115,043 votes.

On the other hand, independent candidate Malik Touqeer Khokhar from Lahore challenged the results of NA-126.

Malik Touqeer Khokhar has made the RO and ECP other parties in the petition, Malik Tauqeer took the position that Saif ul Molook Khokhar has lost according to Form 45. The Saif ul Malook Khokhar has colluded and declared himself the winner in Form 47. Khokhar said he and the lawyers were thrown out of the RO office by the DSP.

PML-N finally unveils election manifesto

LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) unveiled the election manifesto with the slogan of ‘Pakistan Ko Nawaz Do’.

Addressing the media after the manifesto’s launch, PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif said the party promises to abolish NAB, provide 10 million jobs, reduce poverty and unemployment, and ensure the supply of cheap electricity and gas.

The PML-N has also promised judicial reforms and economic reforms. The major points of the election manifesto of PML-N.

Abolition of NAB

In the manifesto of the PML-N, it is also promised to abolish the institution of NAB and to strengthen other institutions working against corruption.

Provision of cheap electricity and gas supply

Electricity bills will be reduced by 20 to 30%, 15,000 megawatts of electricity will be added to the country’s grid, and 10,000 megawatts of electricity will be generated across the country through solar power.

The manifesto states that gas bills will also be reduced, including a promise to reduce inflation by 10% in 2025.

Foreign Policy

In the manifesto of Muslim League-N, it is said that Pakistan will be made strong at the global level, India will have to withdraw the unilateral measures of August 5 from Occupied Kashmir and the Kashmir conflict will be resolved according to the resolutions of the United Nations.

Announcements for Farmers

The PML-N also promised to provide interest-free loans to small farmers and cultivators along with innovation in agriculture, while the provision of 10 million jobs in five years is also included in the manifesto.

Judicial reforms

The supremacy of Parliament will be ensured, the judiciary and justice system will be reformed and a timely and effective judicial system will be implemented.

Economic reforms

GDP growth will be brought up to 6 percent in 3 years and per capita income will be brought up to 2 thousand dollars in five years while exports will be brought up to 60 billion dollars in five years.

Education

Evening schools will be started across the country and the education budget will be increased by 4%, with the establishment of Danish schools across the country.

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court(SC)) constituted a seven-member bench related to the lifetime disqualification case of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) chief Nawaz Sharif and other politicians.

“Will the decision of the Supreme Court regarding lifelong disqualification or the Election Act under Article 62(1)(f) of the Constitution”. The court constituted a bench for the hearing.

A seven-member larger bench, headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Qazi Faez Isa will hear the case.

The larger bench includes Justice Mansoor Ali Shah, Justice Yahya Afridi, Justice Amin Ud Din Khan, Justice Jamal Mandokhail, Justice Mohammad Ali Mazhar and Justice Mussarat Hilali.

A 7-member larger bench of the Supreme Court will hear the case at 11:30 tomorrow.

The Supreme Court constituted a 7-member larger bench on the notice related to lifelong disqualification in the Meer Badshah Khan Qaisrani case.

LAHORE: Nomination papers of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) chief and former prime minister Nawaz Sharif were approved from NA-130 constituency of Lahore.

On the other hand, the nomination of Dr. Yasmin Rashid of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) from NA-130 was rejected.

Earlier, Nawaz Sharif’s nomination papers have also been approved from NA-15 Mansehra.

On the other hand, the nomination papers of PML-N chief organizer Maryam Nawaz were accepted from all constituencies of Lahore and Sargodha.

Maryam Nawaz submitted papers for Punjab Assembly from three constituencies PP 159, PP 160 and PP 165 from Lahore while Maryam Nawaz also submitted papers from one constituency PP 80 from Sargodha.

Spokesperson Maryam Nawaz said that Maryam Nawaz will contest the election from the constituencies decided by the party.
