PM assures GB elders of early completion of projects

GILGIT: Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar assured the political elders of Gilgit-Baltistan and Diamer of his government’s support to ensure the early completion of delayed projects in the region.

The prime minister, in a meeting with a delegation of political elders of GB and Diamer, instructed the formation of a consultative platform to promote interfaith harmony in the country.

The delegation welcomed the prime minister on arrival in the GB and discussed the law and order situation and other matters.

The prime minister said that the GB people usually lived peacefully despite coming from different cultures, languages and sects.

The delegation members suggested that law enforcement could be improved in the GB by strengthening the police force.

Earlier, Governor Gilgit Baltistan Syed Mehdi Shah called on Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar.

During the meeting, the governor apprised the prime minister of the administrative affairs and law and order situation in Gilgit Baltistan.

Election Commission withheld GBLA 13 Astore result

Gilgit Baltistan: The Election Commission of Gilgit-Baltistan has withheld the official results of GBLA 13 Astore One in Gilgit-Baltistan.

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) candidate Rana Farman alleged bribery for construction work in the constituency and distribution of water pipes to get votes.

Chief Election Commissioner Gilgit-Baltistan said that both the first and second-ranked candidates have been summoned on September 14.

He said that the official results will not be announced until the investigation is completed.

PTI’s sit-in in Astore against the delay in declaring the result continues for the second day and the road is blocked in front of the RO office.

According to the unofficial and unofficial results, PTI’s Muhammad Khurshid Khan won the GBLA 13 Astore One with a lead of 994 votes.

PTI’s candidate wins Gilgit-Baltistan by-elections

Gilgit-Baltistan: Muhammad Khurshid Khan of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) won by-elections held in GBLA 13 Astore 1 seat of Gilgit-Baltistan.

The unofficial, incomplete results of all 56 polling stations have been received, according to which Muhammad Khurshid Khan of Tehreek-e-Insaf won with 6,219 votes, while Rana Farman Ali of Muslim League-N secured 5,225 votes.

This seat was vacant after the disqualification of former Chief Minister Khalid Khurshid in a fake degree case.

People were enthusiastic about voting in the by-elections. Despite the busyness of the farming season, voters traveled from remote areas on foot to exercise their right to vote. At many polling stations, voters complained about the slowness of the polling process.

The number of registered voters in GBLA 13 Astore 1  is 33,378  while a total of 56 polling stations were established for voting, polling continued from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

CHILAS: At least eight people died and 16 were injured in a terrible traffic accident in the Chilas City of Gilgit-Baltistan administered by Pakistan.

According to the latest reports, this terrible traffic accident occurred due to a collision between a car and a high roof at Gattidas in Babusar Top.

Assistant Commissioner Chilas says that eight people were burnt to death in this tragic accident while 16 people were taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

According to the rescue officials, after the collision, the high roof full of passengers plunged into a deep ditch and caught fire as it fell. Tourists were traveling in the high-roof that met an accident.
