20 died, 21 others were injured in Chilas bus accident

DIAMER: As many as at least 20 people lost their lives and 21 others were injured as a passenger bus fell into a deep ditch in the Diamar district of Gilgit-Baltistan.

Rescue sources said a passenger bus met with an accident early in the morning in Yashokhal area on the Karakoram highway, resulting in the death of 20 people and 21 injuries.

The passenger bus that was involved in the accident was going to Gilgit from Rawalpindi.

After receiving the information about the accident in the early morning, the local people reached the accident site and started rescue operations, while the police and rescue personnel also reached the accident site after some time. After reaching the rescue operation started.

After the accident, an emergency has been declared in the regional hospital and appeals have been made to the citizens to donate blood for the injured.

On the other hand, President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed grief over the loss of precious lives in a bus accident that took place near Chilas.

The president prayed for peace for the departed souls and strength for the bereaved families to bear the loss. He also prayed for the quick recovery of those injured in the accident.

ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari  and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed grief over the loss of precious lives in a bus accident that took place near Chilas.

According to media reports, at least 20 people were killed and many others sustained injuries when a passenger bus careened off the road, plunging into a ravine.

The president prayed for peace for the departed souls and strength for the bereaved families to bear the loss. He also prayed for the quick recovery of those injured in the accident.

Similarly, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed grief over the loss of lives in a bus accident that took place on the Karakoram Highway in the Yashokhal Das area of Chilas.

The prime minister prayed to Allah Almighty for peace for the departed souls and sympathised with the bereaved families. He also prayed for the quick recovery of those injured in the accident and directed the authorities concerned to provide them with the best possible medical treatment.

On the other hand,  Gilgit-Baltistan Chief Minister Haji Gulbar Khan has expressed sorrow and grief over the death of 20 people in a traffic accident near Chilas Diamer district on Friday.

In his message, he expressed his heartfelt sympathy and condolences to the heirs of the deceased.
He directed the administration to provide the best treatment facilities to the injured, saying that legal action should be taken against the driver responsible for the accident.
He also prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured and eternal peace for the departed souls.

ISLAMABAD: At least eight people were killed and 16 others injured as unknown persons opened fire on a passenger coach on the Karakoram Highway in the Chilas area of ​​Gilgit-Baltistan.

The rescue sources said the incident of firing on the bus took place near Hadar, as a result of which the bus collided with a truck and the bus caught fire.

According to Deputy Commissioner Diamar Arif Ahmed, there were 26 passengers on the bus. He said eight people died and 16 were injured in the incident.

The passenger bus was going to Rawalpindi from Ghizar district, rescue teams have been dispatched to the accident site.

Deputy Commissioner Chilas said that the bodies and the injured have been shifted to Regional Headquarters Hospital Chilas.

Gilgit-Baltistan Interior Minister Shams Lone, while addressing a press conference with special assistants, said that firing on a passenger bus near Chilas is open terrorism.
