SBP issues Raast participation criteria

SBP issues guidelines for regulatory sandbox

KARACHI: The State of Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has issued Raast participation criteria outlining minimum requirements for the entities desirous of becoming the Raast participants and have the necessary functional and technical capabilities to provide digital payment services to their customers through Raast.

Raast is a state-of-the-art instant payment system launched by the SBP in 2021 to facilitate instant, safe and efficient transfer of funds across the country i.e. “instant payments – Pal Bhar Mein. Mulk Bhar Mein”.

Raast offers bulk payments facility, person-to-person (P2P) transfers, person-to-merchant (P2M) payments, and payment initiation services.

Since its launch, forty-four (44) entities including SBP Regulated and Government entities have been on-boarded on Raast as the participants.

SBP envisages that the issuance of Raast Participation Criteria will facilitate the prospective participants in onboarding on Raast, significantly enhance the number of participants, promote digital payments, and encourage innovation and competition in the payments market.

PM announces establishment of cancer hospital in DG Khan

DERA GHAZI KHAN: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that the federal government was committed to uniform progress and prosperity of all areas with uplift of backward areas like South Punjab by spreading a vast network of development projects.

Addressing a public gathering, the prime minister said when they came to power, the inflation had reached over 40 percent, but his leader Nawaz Sharif decided to sacrifice politics for the sake of the country.

With hard work and pro-development policies of the incumbent government, the inflation was capped below 2.4 percent while the interest rate had been reduced to 12 percent benefitting the investors, business people and farmers, he added.

The prime minister, expressing his views in Saraiki language, said that Nawaz Sharif and he had a strong relation with this region.

During the year 2010, when the flood water and destruction was witnessed everywhere in these areas, he as a servant of the area, worked day and night to alleviate sufferings of the masses.

“I have come to convey that Nawaz Sharif and Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif are working day and night for the uplift of entire province, particularly for the South Punjab,” he added.

The prime minister said during his previous tenures, he had worked for the establishment of Danish schools, hospitals, provision of free medicines and livestock, award of scholarships, besides allocating extra quota for the youth of the area in different sectors.

The prime minister said the chief minister Punjab was spreading a network of hospitals and roads in the province, inaugurated facility of Kissan cards, different health and education centers, besides working for the establishment of Nawaz Sharif cancer hospital in Lahore.

He also announced construction of a Cancer Hospital in DG Khan and establishment of University in Rajanpur.

The prime minister said that an era of progress and prosperity had dawned upon the area in which the youth would get jobs opportunities.

ATC extends physical remand of Armaghan for five days

KARACHI: An anti-terrorism court (ATC) extended the physical remand of prime accused Armaghan Qureshi and co-accused Shiraz Bukhari in the Mustafa Aamir murder case for five days.

The case related to the abduction and murder of Mustafa Aamir was heard in the ATC Karachi. During which the investigating officer of the case requested a 14 -day physical remand of the accused.

The investigating officer took a stand in the court that two Armaghan employees have to record the statement of 164. The suspect is also to forensic weapons and laptops found in Armaghan’s house.

During the hearing, the accused fell into the courtroom, on which the prosecutor general said that the accused had fallen similarly in the High Court and ATC Court. However, accused medical  was perfectly fit.

The accused, Armaghan, alleged in court that he was not being allowed to eat.

Tahir Rehman Tanoli submitted documents on behalf of the accused Armaghan’s mother, the court asked Armaghan whether he is your lawyer.

Shiraz’s lawyer, Khurram Abbas, told the court that Shiraz was not related to the case and added that without a lady police officer’s house, the house of the accused was raided. The Shiraz’s sister’s laptop was also taken with the police.

After hearing the lawyers’ arguments, the court extended the physical remand of the accused Armaghan and Shiraz for five days and directed the medical examination of both accused.

Another polio case reported in Sindh

KARACHI: Another polio case has been reported in Sindh, making the second case in the province.

A child in Larkana, Sindh, has been diagnosed with polio, marking the second case in the province this year.

The first polio case of 2025 in Pakistan was reported from Dera Ismail Khan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

In 2024, 74 polio cases were reported in the country out of which 27 were reported from Balochistan, 22 from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and 23 from Sindh.

In addition, a case of polio was reported last year from Punjab and Islamabad last year.

KP Govt arrests 48 miscreants in Kurram district

PESHAWAR: At least 48 miscreants in Kurram tribal district has been arrested and further actions would continue to ensure lasting peace in the region.

This was told during a meeting attended  by Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Shahab Ali Shah and Inspector General of Police Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Zulfiqar Hameed in Kohat district where they chaired a high-level meeting to review the overall security situation in Kurram.

The meeting assessed the latest law and order developments, recent incidents, and the measures taken to address them, said an official communique issued here.

It was decided during the meeting that operations against terrorist elements involved in recent incidents would be further intensified.

The protection of citizens’ lives and property, along with efforts to improve their quality of life, will remain a top priority, and peace will be restored in all circumstances.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police and other law enforcement agencies are implementing a comprehensive strategy to eliminate miscreants effectively. Additionally, the crackdown on those providing support and facilitation to such elements is being tightened.

The Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa reiterated that there was no room for miscreants or their facilitators, and all individuals involved would be held accountable under the law.

On the other hand, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Cabinet has approved a one-year paid internship program for 650 BS Nursing graduates under the Provincial Health Services Academy (PHSA).

These graduates will receive a monthly stipend of Rs31,000 and will undergo training in teaching hospitals across the province.

In an official statement, Advisor to the Chief Minister on Health, Ihtesham Ali, highlighted that, until now, there was no paid internship arrangement for BS Nursing graduates.

LAHORE: The Punjab government has decided to introduce Maryam Nawaz Community Health Services in the province.

A meeting chaired by Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz was reviewed in the province’s health facilities.

The meeting decided to introduce Maryam Nawaz Community Health Services in Punjab. Maryam Nawaz Community Health Services Department will meet 19 major tasks.

In Punjab, 20,000 health inspectors will be hired throughout serving, Lady Health Workers Program will also be linked to Maryam Nawaz Community Health Services, under which 39,000 Lady Health Workers will be part of Maryam Nawaz Community Health Services Force.

The Work Force of Community Health Services will consist of more than 60,000 people. Maryam Nawaz Community Health Services will be responsible for other vaccinations, including polio. Authentic records of patients will be compiled through community health services.

The meeting was informed that 93% of the patients are satisfied with health services reforms, that the mapping task will also be completed from Maryam Nawaz Community Health Services.

Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz ordered immediate steps to activate community health services, seeking a comprehensive plan on Community Health Services.

ISLAMABAD:  Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif launched the Case Assignment and Management System(CAMS) which will help to bring corruption money back to the treasury.

This initiative aims to provide transparent, efficient, and swift justice to litigants across the country

Addressing the inaugural ceremony, Shahbaz Sharif said that a system has been introduced which will bring corruption money back to the treasury, receiving one penny from corrupt elements and spending on public welfare.

He said that under the new system, the Sindh High Court has made decisions of 24 billion cases in one day. The money will now be deposited in the national exchequer.

The Prime Minister said that the time has come for such money to be brought back to the national exchequer, trillions of rupees are pending in trillions, High Courts and Supreme Court.
