Shahid Kapoor shares his wife is too expensive to ask for advise before signing any film

Shahid Kapoor
  • Shahid Kapoor shared insights on his approach to selecting scripts.
  • He revealed whether he consults his wife before signing any film.
  • He shared that the decisions should be personal and fully owned.

Shahid Kapoor is actively promoting his upcoming film Deva and recently shared insights on his approach to selecting scripts, his wife’s involvement, and the ongoing debate surrounding Kabir Singh.

When asked if he consults his wife, Mira Rajput, before signing a film, Shahid humorously remarked, “She is too expensive for me to afford.” On a serious note, he explained, “The decision to choose a film should be personal and fully owned by the actor.” While he values others’ opinions, he believes that final choices must align with his own artistic journey.

Reflecting on the mixed reactions to Kabir Singh (2019), Shahid expressed pride in the film despite criticism of its portrayal of toxic masculinity. He stated, “I’m just very proud of that film. There’s a sense of pride within me because we did something that was… for me, playing a character with issues, or one with grey or dark shades, or a character with disturbing traits as the protagonist, is truly a dream come true.”

Shahid shared that he admires complex characters, inspired by performances like Robert De Niro in Taxi Driver (1976) and Al Pacino in Scarface (1983). He added, “I don’t need to like the characters I portray—my goal is to understand them.”
