Sanya Malhotra’s latest film Mrs. has been making waves, earning praise for its powerful storytelling. Veteran actor Kanwaljit Singh, who plays Richa’s father-in-law in the film, shared how deeply affected he was after watching his character’s treatment of Richa. He was so disturbed that he immediately apologized to Sanya Malhotra.

In an exclusive conversation with Hindi Rush, Kanwaljit revealed that his character symbolizes the dominance many women face at home. Reflecting on his role, he admitted, “Mujhe apne upar bada gussa aaya, aur maine pata nahi kyun, spontaneously Sanya se bola, ‘I am sorry.’”

He recalled that Sanya was surprised and asked why he was apologizing, to which he responded, “Nahi yaar, bahot bura kiya tere saath.” Watching her portrayal of Richa’s struggles made him realize the emotional weight of his character’s actions.

Directed by Arati Kadav, Mrs. is a Hindi adaptation of The Great Indian Kitchen, depicting Richa’s journey from an aspiring dancer to being trapped in household chores after marriage.

The film’s success has also revived interest in Sanya’s past work, with Pagglait and Meenakshi Sundareshwar topping Netflix India’s charts. Kadav expressed gratitude for the overwhelming response, which has further cemented Sanya’s reputation as a powerhouse performer.

Bollywood actress Sanya Malhotra, who will portray an Indian housewife in her upcoming film Mrs, recently opened up about gender disparities in society. Directed by Arati Kadav, Mrs is set to premiere on Zee5 on February 7. The film tells the story of a talented dancer whose life changes dramatically after marriage into a male-dominated household.

In a conversation with ANI, Sanya highlighted societal expectations placed on women, particularly after childbirth. “From us women, there are a lot of expectations. It is very natural nowadays that a woman should leave a job after giving birth to a child. But the child is of both, right? It’s both the members’ responsibility. A good balance is what we need,” she said.

Director Arati Kadav echoed similar sentiments, questioning the rigid roles assigned to women in marriage. “Women shouldn’t have to choose. The idea is marriage is an institution, so it should have room for her career and dreams also. Why is it that marriage immediately extinguishes the passion and ambition of the women?” she asked.

Sanya, known for her versatility in films like Dangal, Jawan, Kathal, and Pagglait, hinted at her upcoming projects. “This year you will see me doing a variety of roles. In Sunny Sanskari, I am doing a role which I have never done before,” she revealed.

She also shared how she prepared for Mrs while filming Jawan and Sam Bahadur. “When I used to come back from the shoot of Sam Bahadur, I used to go on a call with Arati to discuss the character,” she said.

With Mrs releasing soon, Sanya continues to challenge herself with diverse roles, promising an exciting year for her fans.

Directed by Atlee, the film features an ensemble cast including Ridhi Dogra, Sanya Malhotra, Aaliyah Qureishi, Priyamani, Sanjeeta Bhattacharya, and more. Aaliyah, part of the film’s girl squad, was conspicuously absent from certain portions of the song “Zinda Banda,” and she has now revealed the reason behind her absence.

Speaking to a publication, Aaliyah explained that she had sustained an injury, which led to her absence from certain segments of the song. She described the incident, saying, “So, I had a small accident during the dance shoot. It sounds ridiculous, but while we were practicing, a dancer’s duffel bag slipped from her hand, went through the crack of the stair, and fell on my head. Atlee sir said you have a bump on your head, go home and rest.” She initially couldn’t walk for the first two days due to a severe headache, but on the third day, she took painkillers and returned to the set to dance alongside SRK in “Zinda Banda.”

“I took painkillers and rushed back. Dancing with Shah Rukh Khan is not an opportunity you get every day. It’s unfortunate that I missed being part of the beginning of the song,” she lamented.

Aaliyah also praised Shah Rukh Khan for his kindness and how he treated them as equals. “He made us feel like equals and taught us the importance of working with the same passion for years,” she said.

“Jawan” features an ensemble cast including Shah Rukh Khan, Nayanthara, Vijay Sethupathi, Sanya Malhotra, Sunil Grover, Ridhi Dogra, Lehar Khan, Sanjeeta Bhattacharya, Girija Oak, Aaliyah Qureishi, Eijaz Khan, Sangay Tsheltrim, with special appearances by Deepika Padukone and Sanjay Dutt.

“Jawan” is presented by Red Chillies Entertainment, directed by Atlee, produced by Gauri Khan, and co-produced by Gaurav Verma. The film had a worldwide theatrical release on September 7th, 2023, in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu languages.

Sanya Malhotra is currently relishing the immense success of “Jawan,” directed by Atlee Kumar and featuring an ensemble cast including Shah Rukh Khan, Nayanthara, Vijay Sethupathi, Priyamani, Sanya herself, and Deepika Padukone in a special appearance. Amid the film’s remarkable acclaim and commercial triumph, Sanya shared an intriguing anecdote related to Shah Rukh Khan.

During an interview, Sanya recounted a moment when her roommate, who worked for a magazine, informed her about Shah Rukh Khan’s appearance at a Mumbai hotel event. Excited, they spontaneously hopped into an auto-rickshaw and headed to the event. They essentially became gatecrashers, settling in the audience. Sanya’s friend asked Shah Rukh Khan a question, to which he responded with a “Good question!” The encounter left them exhilarated. As Shah Rukh Khan left the room, they exchanged glances, remarking on how wonderful he smelled. Sanya noted, “He still does, by the way.” When her friends discovered her involvement in “Jawan,” they were overjoyed, leading to the creation of another WhatsApp group.

Sanya Malhotra referred to the WhatsApp group she established with fellow “Jawan” actresses, including Aaliyah Qureishi, Priyamani, Girija Oak, Sanjeeta Bhattacharya, and Lehar Khan. In the same interview, she drew parallels between the release of “Jawan” and her debut film, “Dangal.” Sanya explained that when “Dangal” premiered, she was relatively new to the industry and overwhelmed. However, with nearly seven years in the industry, she now appreciates and savors the experience of being part of a colossal film like “Jawan.”

Previously, she had shared a throwback video on Instagram from the set of “Dangal,” where she emulated Shah Rukh Khan’s pose, expressing that she had “manifested” the opportunity to work with him.

Shah Rukh Khan is featured in a brand-new portrait by celebrity photographer Dabboo Ratnani. The actor is seen looking into the camera while resting comfortably on a colourful striped couch and sporting well-groomed, gelled hair. It’s unclear whether the hidden shot dates from a recent photo shoot or is an old one.

Dabboo posted the image to Instagram with the simple statement “The Best.” He embellished his caption by including a crimson heart emoji. In a black turtleneck, blue jeans, and black shoes, Shah Rukh looks sharp. A pink chandelier and a peach bulb can also be seen in the backdrop.

“Fab (beautiful) photography,” said jewelry designer and actor Saif Ali Khan’s sister Saba Ali Khan in reference to the image. Shah Rukh Khan’s appearance in Pathaan inspired a fan to write, “Finally SRK sir ko without cargo dekh liya (finally saw Shah Rukh Khan without cargos).” Another person said, “The best!” “Badshah sinhasan par baith chuka hai” was another fan’s comment, meaning “the emperor has sat on his throne.” Many referred to him as the “King of Bollywood.”

At the moment, Shah Rukh Khan is enjoying the success of Pathaan, his most recent film. Along with Dimple Kapadia and Ashutosh Rana, Deepika Padukone and John Abraham also appear in the Siddharth Anand-directed movie. It has surpassed 900 crores at the global box office and is currently on pace to gross 1000 crore.

In Pathaan, Shah Rukh flaunts shoulder-length hair and six-pack abs. The action thriller centres on the titular spy (Shah Rukh), who emerges from exile to prevent terrorist organization Outfit X, headed by Jim (John Abraham), from attacking India in a way that would be devastating. Pathaan is the fourth film in YRF’s grandiose spy universe, following Hrithik Roshan’s War and Salman Khan’s Ek Tha Tiger (2012) and Tiger Zinda Hai (2017). (2019).

Atlee’s Jawan will now include Shah Rukh. Nayanthara, Vijay Sethupathi, Sunil Grover, Priyamani, and Sanya Malhotra are also slated to appear in the movie. On June 2, it will be released in theatres, and Shah Rukh will play a battered and bandaged character.

The third movie starring Shah Rukh in 2023 will be Rajkumar Hirani’s Dunki. Taapsee Pannu plays the major female role, and it is expected to be released in December.

Sanya Malhotra: I will never lose myself in Bollywood’s flashy world

The actor says she is confident that she will never lose herself in the world of Bollywood, and gives credits to her family for helping her stay in reality.

Actor Sanya Malhotra just completed the shoot of her mission, Love Hostel.

The coronavirus pandemic served as a reminder to Sanya Malhotra to draw lines between her personal and professional lives. The actress wants to do so, to move forward with her new normalcy.

“It was during the first lockdown when I realized that I need to have some good healthy boundaries with my work, which I didn’t have before. Also, mentally my work is my work, not my personal life,” admits Malhotra.

The actor says it usually happens when one is not in a 9 to 5 kind of a job. “Sometimes you mix your work and your personal life. But that doesn’t work for me at all. When it comes to having a fear of losing myself, I don’t have that fear just because I have a very strong boundary when it comes to work and my personal life,” she adds.
