Kashmiris to observe Right to ‘Self-Determination’ Day tomorrow

ISLAMABAD: The Kashmiris on both sides of the Line of Control (LoC) and world over will observe the Right to Self-Determination Day on Sunday (Tomorrow), renewing their pledge to continue their struggle for freedom through the plebiscite, as acknowledged by the United Nations.

According to Kashmir Media Service, it was on January 5, 1949, when the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) passed a resolution supporting the Kashmiris’ right to decide their future through the UN-sponsored plebiscite.

The day will be marked by various activities, including rallies, seminars, and conferences around the world, to remind the UN of its obligation to implement its relevant resolutions to resolve the Kashmir dispute and end the suffering of Kashmiris under Indian brutalities.

Passing out ceremony of naval cadets held in Karachi

KARACHI: The passing out parade of the 122nd Midshipmen and 30th Short Service Commission was held at Pakistan Naval Academy in Karachi.

Commandant Pakistan Naval Academy Commodore Tasawar Iqbal while addressing the parade said that the cadets were given modern training.

Commodore Tasawar Iqbal said in his address that the cadets also received training to participate in modern operations.

On this occasion, the cadets of the Pakistan Naval Academy performed a grand parade and saluted the national flag. Chief Guest Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmad Babar Sidhu inspected the parade.

The men of Pakistan Navy displayed their art in a beautiful manner. Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf was saluted by the cadets.

122nd Midshipmen, 30th Short Service Commission Course passing out parade includes 50 midshipmen, 29 SSC course officers out of 73 commissioned officers.

Chief Guest Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmad Sidhu distributed prizes to the cadets, cadets from Palestine, Sri Lanka and Djibouti also passed out.

If you’re going to do something, do it completely!”

Reflecting on Govinda’s career, Sunita added that while she wasn’t worried about affairs during his prime due to his busy schedule, she jokes about being more cautious now that he’s 60.

The lawsuit details an alleged confrontation where Minaj reportedly slapped Garrett in the face after discovering he had asked someone else to pick up her prescriptions. Garrett claims the blow knocked off his hat and left him shaken. He also alleges Minaj shouted, “Are you out of your mind having him pick up my prescription? You’ve completely lost it, and if my husband were here, he’d knock your teeth out.”

Garrett further alleges Minaj declared, “You’re finished. You’ve ruined your life, and I’ll make sure you never amount to anything,” before striking him on the wrist, causing documents to scatter.

The ex-manager says he was left traumatized, spending hours locked in a restroom out of fear. After returning to Chicago, he reportedly contacted police, citing concerns for his safety. He also alleges Minaj’s team abandoned him in Detroit, leaving him stranded.

Minaj’s attorney, Judd Burstein, responded, stating, “If the lawsuit is as reported, it is completely false and frivolous. We are confident this matter will be resolved in Mrs. Petty’s favor.”

One dead, 24 injured in raod mishap on Karachi-Hyderabad Motorway

KARACHI: A youngster was killed and 24 others were injured as 6 vehicles collided with each other due to slippage caused by rain on the Karachi-Hyderabad Motorway in wee hours of Saturday.

According to the police, a terrible accident took place on the super highway from Hyderabad to Karachi due to rain-induced slippage, as a result of which 2 buses, 2 cars, an oil tanker and a container collided.

Rescue sources said that as a result of the accident, one person died while more than 24 people were injured.

According to the rescue sources, all the injured have been shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi and Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Institute of Trauma while the process of identification of the dead and injured in the accident is underway.

Pakistan slams Israel for targeting Gaza’s medical infrastructure

UNITED NATIONS: Pakistan denounced Israel’s “deliberate” targeting of hospitals, medical personnel, patients and the wounded as Israeli military forces press on with their war in Gaza, and called for “Independent and transparent” investigations into its attacks on health infrastructure and other war crimes.

“Impunity must end,” Ambassador Asim Iftikhar, alternate permanent representative of Pakistan to the United Nations, told the UN Security Council which met in emergency session on the collapse of health services in besieged Strip.

In this regard, he underscored the need for ensuring that perpetrators are held to account.

Friday’s meeting was called by Algeria, the leading voice for the Arab world on the Council which has just taken the gavel as president for the month of January. Senior official from the World Health Organization (WHO) Rik Peeperkorn briefed ambassadors alongside High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Turk. Dr. Tanya Haj Hassan with the charity Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP), also poke, sharing the perspectives of healthcare workers

In his remarks, the Pakistan envoy said that the deliberate targeting of hospitals, medical personnel, patients and the wounded defies every principle of international humanitarian law and has no justification whatsoever.

“Not just condemnation, there must be accountability for these crimes,” Ambassador Asim Iftikhar said, delivering Pakistan’s first statement in the 15-member Council as the country took its seat on the world’s body’s power centre as non-permanent member on January 1.

He said that the deliberate targeting of hospitals, medical personnel, patients and the wounded defies every principle of international humanitarian law and has no justification whatsoever, adding there must be accountability for these crimes, not just condemnation.

Between October 2023 and June 2024, at least 136 strikes were carried out on 27 hospitals and 12 other medical facilities, with over 500 healthcare workers losing their lives, it was pointed out. By June, 22 of Gaza’s 38 hospitals were rendered non-functional, leaving the healthcare system on the verge of collapse.

The ambassador called for “decisive” action to for an immediate and unconditional ceasefire to halt the bloodshed and destruction in Gaza and lifting of the enclave’s inhumane blockade to ensure free flow of food, medical supplies, and humanitarian aid for those in desperate need.
