Contribution of USAID to health and education sectors in KP is laudable

contribution of USAID

ISLAMABAD: The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) collaborates with the Pakistani government at the federal, provincial, and district levels to improve the lives of citizens in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) province, with a focus on newly merged districts, by expanding governance, improving service delivery, and expanding economic opportunities.

According to a statement issued on Saturday, the Burns and Trauma Center in Peshawar and the Pakistan Center for Advanced Studies in Energy (UET Peshawar) are members of this relationship and a perfect example of this engagement.

The Burns and Trauma Center was founded in 2019 and has been delivering excellent services to the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa ever since.

As project partners with the government of Pakistan, the United States government donated $15 million through a USAID grant to acquire equipment and finish the facility.

Previously, burn sufferers had to travel vast distances to receive care in other regions of Pakistan. The Burns and Trauma Centre guarantees that burn sufferers receive high-quality care near their homes.

Aside from burn sufferers, the hospital also offers trauma care and plastic surgery. Its 120 beds can house 10,000 patients every year.

The facility covers the whole state of KP, including the recently combined territories (previously known as the Federally Administered Tribal Districts or FATA) and other bordering areas with Afghanistan.

The United States-Pakistan Centre for Advanced Studies in Energy is also located in Peshawar (USPCAS-E). The US has spent $127 million in the center to identify creative and practical solutions to Pakistan’s difficulties in energy, water, agriculture, and food security. The University of Engineering and Technology (UET) in Peshawar has collaborated with Arizona State University to establish a center for energy research as part of this program.

Curriculum development, research, the building of new laboratories, and exchange programs are among the aims of this collaboration.

This center aims to create new standards for assisting women and underprivileged youngsters in achieving success in the engineering profession. The Center for Advanced Studies in Energy at UET-Peshawar offers Masters and Doctoral degrees in a variety of fields.

To date, over 250 Energy Engineers and Managers have graduated from USPCAS-E, with a thorough grasp of indigenous energy concerns and solutions.

USPS-E has constructed cutting-edge facilities and has begun evaluating commercial products. KP Chief Minister established USPCAS-E as a think tank and focal point for all KP energy challenges. This year celebrates the 75th anniversary of the United States’ excellent connection with Pakistan.

  • A source revealed that the couple is content to spend time apart to focus on their jobs.

Jennifer Lopez and her new husband, Ben Affleck, apparently agree that being apart in order to earn more money is ideal.

A source close to the Marry Me actor said to Hollywood living that the couple is content to spend time apart to focus on their jobs.

“The one thing that makes their relationship so unique is that they do know more than anyone else the demands that come with doing what they do,” the source told the outlet.

“They actually believe that spending time apart from each other makes them stronger and it is perfect because when they are apart, they are making an extreme amount of money,” the insider added.

“It is a win-win situation,” the source said about JLo, 53, and the Gone Girl star, 49, who recently tied the knot in a low-key romantic ceremony in Las Vegas.

The insider went on to say that the newlyweds have had open conversations about their career and how they are going to create a work-life balance.

“They completely understand that there are going to be times when they can’t always be together. It’s something they’ve both acknowledged and discussed in great lengths throughout their relationship so it’s nothing new,” the outlet shared.

“Sure, being apart so soon after their wedding isn’t ideal. But they know they have their whole lives ahead of them and are loving every minute of the journey,” it added.

The source said that even though the couple is not together physically, they “are always talking, texting, FaceTiming, and even camming when they are apart working.”

“And the time that they spend away from each other makes reuniting again that much better. JLo loves the fact that she knows her husband will be there for her no matter what,” the insider added.

Fawad questions Pakistan’s permission to use airspace for Afghanistan drone attack

Fawad Ch

ISLAMABAD: Senior Vice President of Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) Fawad Chaudhry questioned on Saturday if the government permitted the US to utilize Pakistani airspace to perform a drone operation in Afghanistan that killed Al Qaeda leader Ayman al Zawahiri.

“The question is not whether Pakistan’s soil was utilized for the Afghanistan drone assault, but if authorization was provided for Pakistan’s airspace to be used,” the ex-information minister tweeted.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Major General Babar Iftikhar, Director-General Inter-Services Public Relations, have stated that the country’s airspace was not used for the Kabul drone strike.

According to US sources, Zawahiri was killed by a missile fired from a drone while standing on a balcony at his Kabul hideaway on Sunday, in the heaviest blow to the terrorists since US Navy SEALS assassinated Osama bin Laden more than a decade ago.

However, the top PTI leader urged that relevant departments offer an official response to his inquiry because their existing views were “unclear.” The DG ISPR told Geo News a day earlier that there was “no doubt” that Zawahiri was murdered on Pakistani territory.

“The Foreign Ministry has made a clear declaration about Ayman Al-Zawahiri.” “It is unthinkable that Pakistani land was utilized for this,” he added, adding that irrelevant remarks were made without evidence. Foreign Office spokesperson Asim Iftikhar Ahmad firmly denied claims that Pakistan’s airspace was utilized for the US drone strike during his weekly news conference in Islamabad.

“There is no proof that this attack was carried out utilizing Pakistani airspace, therefore this is something I can [state],” he said during a press conference. The Taliban declared earlier this week that the government had no knowledge of the al-Qaeda head “coming and residing” in Kabul and cautioned the US not to carry out another strike on Afghan soil.

  • “Constituencies cannot be demarcated based on the poor and contentious population,” Central Election Cell in charge of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Senator Taj Haider
  • Sen Taj Haider claimed that the Council of Common Interests had admitted that the figures obtained in Census 2017 were wrong. Despite Sindh’s vote differences, provisional data for the 2017 census was postponed

KARACHI: “Constituencies cannot be demarcated based on the poor and contentious population,” Central Election Cell in charge of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Senator Taj Haider on Saturday responded to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) verdict about the census in new constituencies, BOL News reported.

According to a report by BOL News, Sen Taj Haider claimed that the Council of Common Interests had admitted that the figures obtained in Census 2017 were wrong. Despite Sindh’s vote differences, provisional data for the 2017 census was postponed.

“The controversial part of the Council of Common Interests (CCI) decision is being implemented, and the agreed part of the re-census is forgotten. The Bureau of Statistics wasted time and is now saying a new census cannot be met before the date given by CCI.
Moreover, Sen Taj Haider claimed that the ECP is forced to use the old population census for elections. “In the global de facto population census system, every political party signed before approving 24th amendment.”
While talking about Sindh’s population, he said that the difference between the population census of Bureau of Statistics and NADRA is about 30 percent.

“In the recent meeting chaired by the Chief Minister of Sindh, the Statistical Institute was present. Demographer of Sindh, Dr. Mehtab Karim introduced the census questionnaire based on internationally used forms. This questionnaire had only nine questions out of the 28 questions included in the form prescribed by the Bureau.
