Pakistan Vs England: Pakistan sets target of 142 runs only

Pakistan Vs England

Pakistan Vs England: Pakistan’s ODI campaign against England started on a worrisome note, with the team struggling to post a decent score after losing four early wickets and a slew of poor efforts in between.

It was a great bowling show by Saqib Mahmood and it was good to read his thoughts. England will be thrilled by the way they bowled with their inexperienced unit. Mahmood set the tone very nicely by striking twice in his opening over.

Imam, Babar, and Rizwan were sent packing very early and the cream of the Pakistan batting was removed in a flash.

Fakhar Zaman though chose to bat with a lot of authority and played some extravagant shots. His partnership with Sohaib Maqsood tried to revive the innings but the unfortunate run out of the latter once again put the visitors off the track.

The biggest blow came to them in the form of Fakhar’s wicket and after that, it went downhill. Shadab Khan’s 30 helped them to get close to the 150-run mark but overall, it was a dismal show with the willow for the Men in Green.

It’s a below-par total that Pakistan has managed on the board. They do have a quality bowling attack at their disposal but there are not enough runs on the board.

Pakistan Vs England 1st ODI: 8 Down as Pakistan struggle in Cardiff

Pakistan Vs England

Pakistan Vs England: Pakistan’s ODI campaign against England has started on a shaky note, with the team struggling to put up a decent score after losing four early wickets and some unimpressive performances.

Score: 124/8 (After 30 Overs)

After a review conducted by Stokes proved the ball had pitched in line, Mahmood had Imam-ul-Haq lbw with the opening ball of the match.

Pakistan skipper Babar Azam, the world’s top-ranked ODI batsman, was dismissed for a duck two balls later when he edged to Zak Crawley at second slip, leaving the tourists 0-2.

When Mohammad Rizwan edged a magnificent late-moving delivery from Lewis Gregory to debutant wicketkeeper John Simpson, he made 13 runs.

With 3-21 in four overs, Mahmood had Pakistan debutant Saud Shakeel lbw for five with a ball that angled in.

Saud Shakeel was also dismissed for five runs by Saqib Mahmood.

After a meager total of 19 runs, Shoaib Maqsood was the next to fall for a run out.

Fakhar Zaman was putting in a respectable performance, salvaging the guests’ faint hopes, but that, too, came to an end when the batsman was bowled for 47 runs by Matt Parkinson.

Earlier in the opening ODI match of the three-day series in Cardiff, the hosts won the toss and chose to bowl against Pakistan.

Medication is not as effective as this 5-minute breathing exercise

Working out or taking medicine to lower blood pressure is not as effective as a 5-minute breathing exercise

The five-minute workout called “strength training for your breathing muscles” by experts has been shown to decrease blood pressure as good as or better than traditional exercise and prescription medicines.

This innovative exercise, according to researchers from the University of Colorado-Boulder, uses a hand-held gadget that generates resistance when the participant breathes. Simply put, as you suck in air, the tube tries to suck it back in.

High-Resistance Inspiratory Muscle Strength Training is the name given to this technique by researchers (IMST). Previously, doctors recommended that people with respiratory issues use these devices at low power for 30 minutes, but a recent study finds that a five-minute high-intensity burst can enhance cardiovascular health in older persons.

In the US, estimates show nearly two-thirds of people over age 50 have higher blood pressure. This puts many of them at risk of suffering from heart illness, heart attacks, or a stroke. Moreover, researchers say less than half of these Americans are getting enough exercise to improve their condition.

Complete lockdown not to be imposed in fourth wave of Covid: Umar

Pakistan sees surge in daily Covid cases ahead of fifth wave

ISLAMABAD: The government would not impose complete lockdown during the fourth wave of the coronavirus pandemic, which is likely to start during the current month, a government official said on Thursday.

Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Asad Umar said that during the past waves of the coronavirus, the government’s strategy to handle the pandemic and overcome its after-effects had been very successful and the country was placed among the best three performing countries by the Economist’s Normalcy Index for handling it.

Addressing an oath-taking ceremony of the newly-appointed members of the National Youth Council (NYC), the minister urged the people to keep on following the standard operating procedures (SOPs) and vaccinate themselves to cope with the fourth wave in an effective manner.

However, the minister said in case the ratio of positive cases goes up, the government would opt for smart lockdown as was done during the previous phases.

The National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC), through a letter, informed the Kashmir Election Commission about the violation of coronavirus SOPs during the ongoing election campaigns, he said.

Meanwhile, Umar appreciated the efforts of Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Youth Affairs Usman Dar and congratulated the newly-elected members of the National Youth Council.

It was very important to know the issues of youth from them, he said, adding that one can only understand the problems of the people by consulting those who face them and then come up with proper solutions.

The minister expressed satisfaction on the representation in the council from all federating units and without any gender discrimination. A lot of work had been done in providing skills to the youth; however, he highlighted the importance of engaging the youth to tap their potential.

Farrukh hopes K-IV water project will be completed by Oct 2023

K-IV water project

Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Farrukh Habib on Thursday expressed confidence that the greater Karachi water supply scheme (K-IV) would be completed by October 2023.

Addressing the contract signing ceremony for hiring consultancy services of a foreign company for K-IV here, he said the project was crucial for addressing the water woes of Karachi’s dwellers that had been facing shortage of 650 million gallons of water on a regular basis.

“The initiative will provide a great deal in purging Karachities of tanker mafia which has been exploiting them for several decades,” he added.

The minister said Prime Minister Imran Khan, under the Karachi transformation plan, had tasked the Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) with execution of the K-IV project.

“WAPDA has unchallenged capacity as it has not only been maintaining and running the old dams, but also working on new [water] projects,” he stressed while pointing out growing trust of the foreign investors on the authority.

The foreign investors were showing keen interest in its projects’ funding, which reflected the ‘unchallenged capacity’ of the WAPDA, he noted.

Chiding the Sindh government over delay in project’s execution, Farrukh said the project had been in limbo for the last several years due to incompetency, negligence and incapability of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leadership.

In response to a query, he said history taught us how people-centric projects succumbed to corruption of the PPP-led government in Sindh.

“How can one expect execution of such a huge project from the Sindh government in such a scenario,” he questioned.

He said Prime Minister Imran Khan was striving to provide all-out facilities to the people of Karachi by taking initiatives like ‘Karachi Transformation Plan’.

The prime minister, he said, was a visionary leader who had been ensuring construction of new dams for the future generations.

He said the water projects, to be implemented in the next ten years, for water storage would have the same capacity as was of the water reservoirs built in the last 70 years with a capacity to store only 13 million acre feet water.

The minister said work on producing 10,000 megawatts of inexpensive electricity was also under way, adding such initiatives would be ‘strategic assets’ for Pakistan.

He regretted that the government had to produce 45 per cent electricity through imported fuel which was damaging the environment.

Farrukh said the previous government committed ‘criminal negligence’ by signing costly agreements for electricity generation.
