Pakistan strives for inclusive Afghan settlement: FO Spokesperson

Foreign Office Canadian minister’s remarks about Pakistan

The Foreign Office (FO) spokesperson Zahid Hafeez Chuahdri on Thursday said that Pakistan will continue to play a constructive role in the Afghan peace process.

In his weekly news briefing in Islamabad today, the FO spokesperson said Pakistan has served closely with the United States to achieve durable peace and stability in Afghanistan.

He said we will proceed to cooperate with the US and the international community till the end.

“It is desire and hope of Pakistan that the Afghan peace process succeeds and the Afghan parties agree to a common solution which is inclusive, broad-based and comprehensive,” he said.

The Foreign Office further reiterated that there is no military solution to the conflict.

The Foreign Office Spokesperson welcomed the UN Secretary General’s recent report which highlights the chaotic targeting of Kashmiris with pellet guns in the Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).

He called upon the international community to take cognizance of the plight of oppressed Kashmiri children. He said the meeting held in New Delhi last week was yet another attempt by the BJP government to further marginalize the Kashmiri people to perpetuate India’s illegal occupation in illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

The spokesperson said any steps that are directed at bringing further illegal change in the IOJK will not be accepted by the Kashmiris.

“Only viable option is the solution of Kashmir dispute as per the UN Security Council resolutions and aspirations of the Kashmiri people,” Chaudhri added.

He further said there is no change in Pakistan’s principled position on the Palestinian issue.

He said we have consistently called for two-state solutions with pre-1967 borders and Al-Quds al-Sharif as the capital of the Palestinian state.

PCB Felicitates Nida Dar on completing century of T20I wickets

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has felicitated Nida Dar on becoming the first Pakistan bowler – across men’s and women’s games – to take 100 T20I wickets.

Nida Dar has achieved the achievement in the first of the three T20Is between Pakistan Women and West Indies Women when she dismissed Deandra Dottin in the 10th over of the first innings.

The off-spinner is only the fifth bowler in the women’s game to join the 100-T20I wickets club.

PCB Chief Executive Wasim Khan: “I congratulate Nida Dar on becoming the first-ever Pakistan bowler to record a century of wickets in T20Is.

“This is no mean achievement and is a testimony of the hard work and dedication Nida has put in over the years. Over the last decade, Nida has prospered into an integral part of the national women’s team and has become an inspiration for the next generation of women cricketers.”

“It is a great moment not only for her but the whole nation as she is also the first Asian woman bowler to record this landmark. Nida is an icon and inspiration to millions of young girls who are passionate about cricket and follow the game,” he added.

Wasim Khan added, “In a day and age when women’s cricket is flourishing and its fan base is increasing day by day, role models like her would do well in taking the women’s game to the corners of the earth.”

The other four women bowlers to have crossed the 100-wicket mark in the format are Anisa Mohammed (120), Ellyse Perry (115), Shabnum Ismail (110) and Anya Shrubsole (102). From the Asian teams, India’s Poonam Yadav, with 95 wickets, follows Nida in the list of highest T20I wicket-takers.

TikTok issues statement In Response To The Ban Imposed by SHC

TikTok responds to SHC's ban in Pakistan

Tiktok has issued a response message to the Sindh High Court’s (SHC) order to ban the app across Pakistan.

Earlier this week, the SHC had ordered to suspend the video-sharing app TikTok across the country over immoral and objectionable content.

“The creativity and passion of our community has brought joy to households across Pakistan and provided a home for incredibly talented creators,” said TikTok in a statement.

“We have grown our local-language moderation capacity for Pakistan, and work diligently to review and take action on content in violation of our Community Guidelines,” it added.

“We continue to work with regulators, and look forward to serving the millions of TikTok users and creators in Pakistan who have found a home for creativity, fun and vital economic opportunities for many years to come,” the statement by TikTok concluded.

The SHC has issued a notice to the attorney general of Pakistan and directed him to follow the orders and get the app suspended.

Presenting his arguments in the court, the petitioner’s lawyer said Peshawar High Court had earlier banned TikTok as some videos uploaded on the platform are “immoral and against the teachings of Islam.”

The lawyer said his client had approached the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) before moving the court, however, the PTA did not do anything in this regard.

The court has summoned the parties involved in the case on July 8.

Ban Lifted For The Second Time

Back in April, Pakistan, for the second time, had removed a ban on TikTok consequent to a local high court’s order.

This was done almost a month after the same judicature had directed PTA to “immediately block access” of the TikTok service.

However, PTA had also issued a strict warning to TikTok against “vulgar and objectionable content”, which it was told to remove.

The authority said in a press release shared on Twitter, “PTA has issued directions to the service providers to unblock access to the TikTok App.”

It also warned, “the TikTok App management has been told to ensure that vulgar and objectionable content are to be made inaccessible in accordance with the PECA provisions and directions of the Honorable Court.”

PHC Chief Justice Qaiser Rashid Khan had stated to the PTA’s director-general that the body should have a system that could differentiate between “good and bad”.

Justice Qaiser had said, “When PTA takes action [against immoral content], people will not upload such videos,” to which the latter said the authority had spoken to TikTok to block repeat offenders.
