Torkham border closed For departure and arrival till fresh Guidelines by NCOC

Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid has on Tuesday (today) informed that the Torkham border has been closed from today for all kinds of transportation due to COVID-19.

In his tweets, he said the decision has been taken keeping in view the directions of the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC).

The Interior Minister said Torkham Immigration Center on the Pak-Afghan border will remain close till the fresh guidelines of the NCOC.

Earlier, around 305 stranded Pakistanis in Afghanistan have returned to the country via the Torkham border.

They were received by Assistant Commissioner Shamsul-Islam and security officials at the border. The returned passengers were shifted to the Quarantine centre in Landi Kotal where their corona tests will be conducted.

However, the confirmed coronavirus cases across the country ride to 29,465 after 1,991 new cases reported during the last 24 hours.

According to the national dashboard, 59 new cases were detected in Balochistan, 32 in Islamabad and seven recorded in Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

Kuwait Reinstates Visas For Pakistanis After 10 years

Kuwait has reinstated family, business, and technical visas for Pakistanis after 10 years.

According to the details, Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid met with Kuwaiti Prime Minister Sheikh Sabah Khalid Al-Hamid Al-Sabah in which Kuwaiti Interior Minister and Pakistani Ambassador were also present.

Issues of mutual interest including Pak-Kuwait bilateral relations were discussed during the meeting, while the Interior Minister also discussed visa restoration with the Kuwaiti Prime Minister.

On the other hand, the interior minister also presented a special letter from Prime Minister Imran Khan to the Kuwaiti prime minister.

Great progress has been made in restoring Kuwaiti visas for Pakistani nationals since 2011 and the two countries have decided to immediately restore family and business visas, as per the details.

It has also been decided to issue Kuwaiti visas to Pakistani workers as per the agreement, while Pakistanis living in Gulf countries will be able to go to Kuwait with online visas.

On the occasion, the Kuwaiti Prime Minister said that the relations between Pakistan and Kuwait span over seven decades and there is a relationship of love and trust between the people of Pakistan and Kuwait.

Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid said that all Pakistanis consider Kuwait as their second home, adding that Pakistani families and the business community were facing immense problems due to the Kuwaiti visa ban.

He said that Pakistani labor has a very important role to play in the development of Kuwait and the restoration of work visa will create new employment opportunities for Pakistanis.

Sheikh Rashid, CM Sindh Discuss Law & Order Situation Of the Province

Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed, who is on an official visit to Karachi, held a meeting with Chief Minister Sindh Murad Ali Shah here on Thursday.

During the meeting, Sheikh Rashid has assured the Chief Minister of full cooperation over the ongoing operation against dacoits in Shikarpur.

Both the leaders also discussed the overall law and order situation of the province.

The interior minister said that the law and order is a provincial matter and we will provide whatever help is required in this matter.

“Terrorism cases should be registered against the dacoits and the interior ministry would provide anything needed,” he added.

On this occasion, CM Sindh Murad Ali Shah said that the dacoits will be completely eradicated. Some important equipment is needed. “The Federal Ministry of Home Affairs should help us in procuring the equipment,” he remarked.

Earlier, Sheikh Rashid Ahmed on Wednesday said that the federal government will ensure the provision of all resources to the law enforcement agencies (LEAs) to maintain the law and order.

The Minister made these remarks during a briefing given to him on the law and order situation at the Sindh Rangers Headquarters in Karachi.

On the occasion, the interior minister said that the federal government will take all necessary measures to protect the lives and properties of the masses.

Lauding the role of Sindh Rangers in restoring peace in Karachi,  Rashid termed the metropolis backbone of the country’s economy.

Upon his arrival at the Sindh Rangers Headquarters, DG Rangers Major General Iftikhar Hassan Chaudhary welcomed the interior minister.
