Celebrities show support to Zoya Nasir After she broke off her engagement

Many Pakistani celebrities have reached out to show their support to Zoya Nasir, who recently broke off her engagement with German Vlogger Christian Bretzmann.

Earlier on Saturday,  Zoya Nasir announced her breakup with her fiancé Christian Betzmann after the controversy created uproar all over the internet after his remarks on Israel’s aggression against Palestine.

Taking to Instagram, Zoya Nasir has officially announced that she and Betzmann are no longer together. “It’s with a heavy heart I’m announcing that Christian Betzmann and I are no longer engaged to be married. His sudden change in stance towards my culture, my country, my people and insensitivity towards my religion has lead me to take this difficult and irrevocable decision,” she wrote. 

The actress further added, “There are certain religious and social boundaries that can’t be crossed no matter what, hence, the decision to part ways. Humility, Tolerance and Respect towards each other are the virtues that we must always adhere to. I look upon my Allah to provide me with the strength to deal with this worldly emotional wreck. I wish Chris a bright and happy future.”

Zoya concluded by saying: “I sincerely request for space and privacy for myself and my family as we begin to navigate this emotional turmoil.”

An Instagram account shared her conversation with Christian who believes that social media has never helped in any political event.

He further indicates that ‘your strikes are useless, waste of time’.

And then he concluded his conversation by saying: “It is better to go pray as praying is the only thing Third World countries can do”.

“Whereas, first world countries are based on doers”, Christian declared.

Later, the Vlogger also jumped in to clear his views via his Instagram handle.

Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi on Saturday has shared Pakistan’s efforts for regional peace with congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee.

FM Qureshi said on the micro-blogging site Twitter that “Happy to speak with Congresswoman @JacksonLeeTX18, Chairperson of the Congressional Pakistan Caucus.”

“Appreciate Congressional Caucus’s role within the US Congress working tirelessly to improve bilateral relations between USA and Pakistan”, tweeted Foreign Minister. 

The Foreign Minister of Pakistan also said that he has spoken with Congresswoman Jackson on Pakistan’s vision for socio-economic progress & Pakistan’s efforts for regional peace and prosperity including peace in Afghanistan.

“Further, we look forward to building greater inter-parliamentary ties between the United States and Pakistan,” said Qureshi.

Earlier, FM Qureshi had called on the leadership of the U.S. House of Representatives Subcommittee on Asia, the Pacific and Non-Proliferation led by Chair Ami Bera and Ranking Member Steve Chabot.

In a Tweet, the foreign minister wrote, “a broad-based & strategic partnership advances our shared interests, bilaterally & regionally.”

FM Qureshi further added, “spoke about Pakistan key role in facilitating a peaceful settlement in Afghanistan & stressed that peace is a shared responsibility of Afghan parties and key stakeholders.”

He also highlighted continuing human rights violations in IIOJK and said that resolution of the J&K dispute pivotal to stability in South Asia.

Saudi King Salman speaks with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas

Saudi Arabia’s King Salman, during a telephone call with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, reaffirmed the Kingdom’s denunciation of the Israeli aggression and attacks in Jerusalem and the Gaza Strip over the past 11 days.

King Salman offered his prayers for the speedy recovery of those injured during the conflict and said he wishes the Palestinian people security and peace.

He added that the Kingdom will continue its efforts at all levels to prevent Israeli attacks on Jerusalem by working with all relevant parties to put pressure on the Israeli government.

The Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas expressed his deep gratitude for the Kingdom’s support and thanked the king and the Saudi government for their efforts within international, Islamic, and Arab organizations to stop the Israeli aggression and support the Palestinian people.

A ceasefire agreement had been reached between Israel and Hamas after 11 days of fighting that wreaked havoc in the Gaza Strip and disrupted life in Israel.

According to the international news agency, after the ceasefire, celebrations were heard on the streets of Gaza, with car horns being blown and a few aerial shots fired as crowds took to the streets in the occupied West Bank.

Egypt negotiated a ceasefire following international pressure to halt the bloodshed that began on May 10.

Govt. is targeting 4% economic growth for ongoing fiscal year: Hammad Azhar

The government is targeting a 4% economic growth for the ongoing fiscal year, announced the Federal Energy Minister Hammad Azhar on Saturday.

While giving an economic outlook at a press conference today in Islamabad, Hammad Azhar said that the government will also expand the “social protection programs” in the country to help the low-income groups.

Azhar said that the government managed to reach this level of economic growth because of the “prudent economic policies” that were followed despite the “negative impact of COVID-19”.

“This will not be temporary growth it will be sustained and further strengthened,” said the federal minister.

The minister said that during the first nine months of the current fiscal year, large-scale manufacturing grew by 9% and Pakistan in March only had made exports worth $3.2 billion.

Azhar said that the foreign exchange reserves of the country had reached $23 billion while remittances also increased by 39% in the current year.

The energy minister said that the cement industry has seen a record production of 17% while better crop prices have benefitted the farmers’ community.

Pakistan’s GDP Growth Is Estimated At 3.94%

Prime Minister Imran Khan on Friday told via the micro-blogging site Twitter that Pakistan’s GDP is estimated at 3.94%.

According to the Prime Minister, the National Accounts Committee has finalized the GDP growth estimate & GDP growth is estimated at 3.94%.

PM Khan said that this reflects the success of our govt’s economic policies while managing COVID 19 pandemic.

In the tweet, Prime Minister said,

“Our V-shaped recovery is balanced between 3 major sectors: agriculture, industry & services.”

Schools To Remain Closed In Areas With High COVID positivity rate

NCOC Suggests Summer Vacations In Educational Institutions

The National Command and Operations Center (NCOC) on Saturday has directed provinces not to open educational institutions in the districts with high coronavirus rates.

According to the details, NCOC has sent a letter to the provinces, in which it said that schools should not reopen on May 24th where the COVID-19 positivity ratio is high.

They must instead remain closed till June 6.

“The districts where the infection rate is less — below 5% — can reopen educational institutions (on May 24),” NCOC said in a notification sent to the provinces.

A decision on whether or not educational institutes can reopen on June 7 will be taken on June 3, the letter added.

Earlier on May 19th, the National Command and Operations Centre (NCOC) had decided to reopen schools in districts with less than a 5% coronavirus positivity ratio.

The National Command and Operations Center (NCOC) had announced a relaxation of Corona restrictions.

The decision was taken at a meeting chaired by NCOC chief Asad Umar in Islamabad.

Pakistan Launches New Private Airline for Gilgit, Skardu & Chitral

The Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (PCAA) has on Saturday announces to operate a newly launched private airline ‘North Air’ in order to boost tourism across the country.

According to the details, CAA launches new airline North Air to operate flights for Gilgit, Skardu, Chitral and Gwadar.

Initially, the airline will operate flights between Islamabad-Gilgit, Islamabad-Skardu, Islamabad-Chitral and Islamabad-Gwadar.

Recently, Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) had commenced direct flights from Lahore to northern areas.

The PIA using Airbus A-320 aircraft for Skardu flight operation and the fare of one person is Rs7500.

Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) had also announced to operate weekly two flights from Karachi to Skardu to facilitate tourists.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of PIA, Air Marshal Arshad Malik, had earlier said that the national carrier was planning to operate direct flights from Karachi to Skardu.

On March 26, Swat’s Saidu Sharif airport had welcomed the first flight on Friday, after a hiatus of 17 years.

Earlier, the CAA had revoked the flight permit of a private airline carrying 27 passengers from Dubai to Peshawar who tested positive for the coronavirus.

This is the second time this month that a private airline has violated government-designated SOPs and brought 24 Corona patients from Dubai to Peshawar on May 10, according to the report.

CAA spokesman Saad bin Ayub said the National Command and Control Center informed the authority that the private airline had violated COVID-19 SOPs by bringing 27 passengers from Sharjah to Peshawar on May 16.

He said the airline’s negligence had not only endangered the lives of health workers and airport staff but also other passengers on the flight.

He said that other airlines are strictly following COVID-19 SOPs.
