LHC orders impounding smoke-emitting vehicles

LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Friday ordered the district government and the traffic police to take strict action against smoke-emitting vehicles and impound them for frequent violations to control smog in the provincial metropolis.

Justice Shahid Karim of Lahore High Court, while hearing the petitions filed for remedying smog, said that vehicles emitting smoke should not only be fined but should also be closed.

Justice Shahid Karim said that the Punjab Transport Department should be informed about the pictures of vehicles emitting smoke and help should also be sought from Safe City.

The court said that tire killers should be installed wherever possible to stop one-way traffic.

The court expressed concern over the ill-treatment of dogs, cats and other animals in Tollinton Market and gave them 3 months time to shift them to another place.

The court also directed Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) Lahore to install new meters soon.

CTD arrests suspects involved in killing of traffic policeman

KARACHI: The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) Sindh arrested a suspect near Saddar Parking Plaza in Karachi.

According to the details, the suspect was involved in the targeted killing of a traffic police personnel and he was arrested eight years after the incident.

The CTD has recovered ammunition from the suspect’s possession and registered an FIR against him.

The alleged suspect Ijaz Kaala along with other suspects targeted traffic police personnel Muhammad Mansha in 2014, and the bullets also injured a Rikshaw driver.

Earlier, the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) of Sindh arrested a terrorist affiliated with the banned organization during a raid in Karachi.

The arrest was made in Korangi Industrial Area. The Daesh commander has been identified as Abdul Malik.

  • Traffic will not be allowed to pass through Hasan Square Bridge during the match.

KARACHI: The traffic police have finalized a plan regarding parking and alternative routes for the Karachi Cricket Test match between Pakistan and England scheduled to be held on December 17.

The third and final Test match of the series between Pakistan and England will be played at National Bank Arena (formerly National Stadium Karachi) in Karachi.

 

 

The plan issued by the traffic police said that parking arrangements have been made for the media at China Ground while parking arrangements have been made for the public at the Expo Centre.

A match ticket and original ID must be shown for parking. Fans will be transported to the stadium by shuttle service from the parking area.

Traffic will not be allowed to pass through Hasan Square Bridge during the match, however, traffic will continue to flow from Stadium Road toward Hasan Square.

Even going towards the stadium from University Road will not be allowed. Heavy traffic will not be allowed from PP Chowrangi to University Road, Karsaz to Stadium, and Millennium to New Town.
