Swara Bhasker Reveals Why She Was Scared of Marrying Fahad Ahmad

The Bollywood actress Swara Bhasker recently talked about the she had prior to marrying political activist Fahad Ahmad a year ago. Swara expressed her worries in an interview with RJ Anmol and actor Amrita Rao, especially regarding her acceptance in the film industry following her marriage.

“I did not trust myself at all,” she admitted. “I always trusted the wrong people, who mostly let me down. There was also an age difference. I just thought it was not possible. It was just too much.” She admitted being anxious about societal reactions, revealing, “I was so terrified of what my parents and friends would say if I got married.”

Swara also disclosed a surprising fear: “The most shocking thing is that I thought ki agar hum saath ho jaaye toh mujhe ‘Bollywood parties’ mein nahi bulayenge, ya Bollywood Diwali parties mein nahi bulayenge (if we end up together, I won’t be invited to Bollywood parties or Diwali parties).” She added, “It was humbling for me. I told myself, ‘It’s okay, you are feeling this, feel it.’”

The Samajwadi Party leader Fahad and Swara tied the knot in February of last year, and celebrations were held in March. In September 2023, the couple welcomed a baby girl into their family.

In a recent series of updates, she showcased her burgeoning baby bump and the preparations underway for the little one’s arrival.

Taking to Instagram on August 7th, Swara revealed a set of fresh photos that exude the glow of an expectant mother. The initial picture captures her in a charming printed blue dress, proudly displaying her baby bump. Positioned before a crib thoughtfully arranged in her room for the upcoming baby, she radiates anticipation. However, a humorous twist unveils itself in the subsequent photo, where Swara’s pet cat seems to have claimed the crib for itself, already establishing its presence as the crib’s first occupant. The caption accompanying the post humorously reads, “Installed a crib in our room in preparation of new arrival… swipe to see who claimed dibs! Rahul Gandhi could be seen standing next to Swara, her parents, and Fahad in the video. Rahul dressed appropriately, donning a white kurta and pajamas. While Fahad wore a cream-colored sherwani and white pajamas, Swara was dressed in a pink and gold lehenga. Rahul grinned as Swara’s mum spoke to him in the video. Rahul has previously interacted with Swara. She had accompanied him during his Bharat Jodo Pilgrimage in the previous year.

On Friday, Swara shared a number of photos from her reception while posing with Fahad on Instagram. The couple smiled for the camera and struck different postures in the pictures. Fahad kissed Swara’s cheek in one of the images while she grinned. “Introducing Mr. and Mrs. #SwaadAnusaar,” wrote Swara as the caption for the photo.

Swara posted images of herself and Fahad from their Qawwali night on Twitter on Thursday. Akhilesh Yadav, the head of the Samajwadi Party and a former chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, attended. Swara tweeted about sharing the images, “Glad and honored to invite Shri Akhilesh Yadav ji to the “Swaad Anusaar” celebrations… Qawwali evening. used the chance to fulfill his brother Pradeep bhaiya’s (brother’s) wish for a photo with his leader. I also complained to Akhilesh ji, who was kind and amusing, about my party-pooper father.”

The couple recently stated to Times of India in regards to their marriage, “We are both very conscious and proud of our identities and nobody wants to change anyone. Things that fit both of our traditions were on our agenda. Haldi is a phenomenon that occurs in both. Muslims refer to it as ubtan. There is mehendi on both sides. There is sangeet on both sides. A non-converting interfaith couple in India can only be legally wed in a courtroom under the Special Marriage Act. That’s what we did. We are currently working to establish a shared celebrational culture.

On February 16, Swara made her engagement to Fahad Ahmad public. They chose a judicial marriage, according to the actor’s sharing of their court-issued images.

The wedding reception of Swara Bhasker and Samajwadi Party leader Fahad Ahmad was recently attended by actress Jaya Bachchan. Jaya and TMC leader Derek O’Brien may be seen heading down the stairs in a video that just went viral online. She also spoke with Shashi Tharoor, the head of the Congress.

Shashi Tharoor waved back and they clasped hands as well. They had a quick talk together as well. Jaya dressed appropriately for the event in a white suit, yellow salwar, and matching dupatta. The actor sported a mask and heels as well.

In another part of the video, Swara Bhasker’s mother Ira Bhaskar was with Jaya. She was observed laughing as she went alongside Derek and Ira. Jaya stated: “The word is (Okay). Thank you very much.”

Rahul Gandhi, the leader of the Congress, attended Swara and Fahad’s wedding celebration in Delhi. Rahul posed for the paparazzi while standing next to Swara, Fahad, and their family members in a video that was posted online. He was spotted conversing with Ira as well. Swara chose a pink and gold lehenga for the event, while Fahad wore a cream sherwani and white pajamas.

On Friday, Swara posted several pictures from her reception to Instagram, some of which also included Fahad. The couple grinned for the camera and displayed various expressions in the photos. In one of the pictures, Swara was given a kiss by Fahad as she grinned. Swara captioned the images, “Presenting Mr. and Mrs. #SwaadAnusaar.”

Swara announced her engagement on Twitter on February 17 and included images of herself and Fahad signing the documents to officially register their marriage. She had penned, “We applaud the #SpecialMarriageAct (despite notice period etc.) It exists at least, and it gives love a chance. @FahadZirarAhmad The right to love, the freedom to select your life partner, the right to marry, and the right to agency shouldn’t be privileges.”

The last time we saw Swara was in the buddy comedy Jahaan Chaar Yaar (2022). Meher Vij, Pooja Chopra, and Shikha Talsania were also featured in the movie. Swara’s upcoming movie appearance is Mrs. Falani.

Together with Dharmendra, Shabana Azmi, Alia Bhatt, and Ranveer Singh, Jaya will appear in the upcoming love drama Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani. The movie, directed by Karan Johar, will be released in theaters in July.

Fahad Ahmad of the Samajwadi Party and actor Swara Bhasker have been sharing glimpses of their recent pre-wedding events. The couple claimed to have been married in court and to have filed their paperwork on January 6 in accordance with the Special Marriage Act. With their loved ones, they recently celebrated a number of pre-wedding events, including haldi, mehendi, and sangeet. Swara and Fahad discussed organizing wedding celebrations that were “similar to both their cultures” in a recent interview.

Both Swara and Fahad expressed that they were “extremely conscious and proud” of being Muslims and Hindus, respectively. They discussed how Hindu and Muslim marriages both have haldi, mehendi, and sangeet rituals. Being a “interfaith couple that does not convert,” Swara and Fahad said they could only get married in court, which is exactly what they did. Both Swara Bhasker and Fahad Ahmad remembered their first encounters with one another. Fahad claimed to have first encountered Swara in her 2013 film Raanjhanaa, while the actor said that Swara’s earliest memory of them together was when he fixed the microphone as she spoke during a rally. Fahad remarked, “I first saw her in Raanjhanaa, and I truly liked the way she acted. Pehli baar maine inhe Raanjhanaa mein dekha. Since I had no idea who she was, I Googled her. On December 19, 2019, we had our first encounter. Someone said to me, “Madam (Swara) kaafi krantikari hain toh inko bulao (She is a revolutionary, you should call her),” as an anti-CAA protest was taking place at August Kranti Maidan.

Asserting that “August Kranti Maidan is big,” Swara described how she became disoriented upon arriving for the demonstration. The actor claimed that when she finally made it to the stage, she had no idea what Fahad looked like and was yelling, “Fahad kaun hai” (Who is Fahad), from the stage. When she finally met him, she claimed he appeared extremely frazzled while repairing a microphone. According to reports, the two reconnected at a different demonstration and quickly grew close. They used to talk politics since they shared “same ideals,” according to Swara.

The two claimed they started communicating to each other about their personal lives in 2021, more than a year after their initial encounter. Swara claimed that even though it had never occurred to her that she and Fahad would have a romantic relationship, her friends began asking about him and informing her that “this guy is in love with you” once they began asking about him. When Swara finally decided to ask Fahad what their “scene” was following enough prodding from her friend, he said that he was “extremely fond” of her, according to Swara. Swara recalled that Fahad had advised her to hold off for a year and a half so that he could establish his financial stability and they could get married.

Throughout her pre-wedding festivities in Delhi, Swara Bhasker keeps changing up her appearance. For a daytime event on Monday where Carnatic vocalist Sudha Raghuraman was playing live on stage, the actor portrayed a Telugu bride. Traditional marigold flowers were used as decoration, which was also done in front of a plain white backdrop.

Swara shared a number of images and videos from the Monday celebration on her Instagram Stories. To mimic a Telugu bride, she dressed in a red and golden saree and traditional jewelry. “Channelling Telugu Brides,” she wrote with one of the photographs. She wore a matching nose ring, mathapatti, earrings, necklace, and glass bangles to complete her gorgeous ensemble. She was joined by her fiancé Fahad Ahmad, who was dressed in a cream kurta pajama and with a beige Nehru jacket.

Moreover, Swara posted a video of stage performer Sudha Raghuraman, a Carnatic vocalist. “The brilliant @sudharaghuraman20 making our wedding celebrations unforgettable #SwaadAnusaar,” she added in her message.

She also shared a number of images and videos from her Sunday mehendi and sangeet. She had donned a green lehenga for the sangeet and an orange anarkali outfit for the mehendi. She also performed a dance as Deene Khan sung. She also made a joke about “stalking other websites for my own wedding pics” while sharing a few images.

Last month, Swara revealed that she had legally wed Fahad Ahmad, the state head of Samajwadi Yuvjan Sabha, the youth wing of the Samajwadi Party. In order to provide a glimpse into their love journey, she posted a video and wrote, “There are times when you look very far and wide for something that was right there all along. Although we were looking for love, we first discovered friendship. Then, we came across one another! I’m glad you’re here, @FahadZirarAhmad. Although crazy, it is yours!” Fahad had tweeted her article and had said, “I had no idea that chaos could be so lovely. I appreciate you keeping my hand, @ReallySwara.”
