KP Govt decides to enhance security of judges

PESHAWAR:  The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has decided to increase the security of judges across the province and committee prepared recommendations in this regard.

The committee constituted to review the security for the judges has recommended that judges deployed in sensitive areas should be provided personal security, as well as that for homes and the routes they travel on.

The committee has prepared recommendations in which it is suggested to provide security to the judges posted in sensitive areas in addition to personal security at home and on the way. While the responsibility of determining the sensitive area related to security will be handed over to Counter Terrorism Department (CTD).

The committee has also recommended bulletproof vehicles for all High Court benches and category A security for District and Sessions Judges.

According to the document, one head constable and 4 constables along with the district and sessions judge, 2 constables will be appointed for the security of the additional district and sessions judge.

While the committee has appointed civil judges, senior civil judges, judicial magistrate, family court and presiding officers. 1, 1 has been recommended to be posted on stable security.

IHC fixes contempt of court proceedings case for hearing on May 14

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has fixed contempt of court proceedings against malicious campaign being runs on social media against the judges for hearing on May 14.

The Islamabad High Court has set cases for contempt of court on the social media campaign against Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani and Justice Babar Sattar.

Both the larger benches will hear the contempt of court cases on May 14.

Earlier, the Islamabad High Court had constituted 2 larger benches for contempt of court proceedings.

A three-member bench headed by Chief Justice Aamer Farooq will hear the case of Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani, Justice Miangul Hasan Aurangzeb, Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir will join the bench.

Justice Babar Sattar’s letter will be heard by a 3-member bench headed by Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani, Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri and Justice Sardar Ejaz Ishaq Khan will be part of the bench.

Pakistan Post directs to check letters of high profile people

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Post directed to specially check the mails of judges, diplomats and other high profile people.

Pakistan Post has issued letter for immediate action after Islamabad High Court, Supreme Court and Lahore High Court’s judges received letters filled with suspicious powder.

In the letter, it has been directed to provide masks and gloves for the safety and security of the staff. Staff have also been instructed to check letters and other mails coming into the post office with caution.

The letter stated said that the mails of judges, diplomats and other high profile people should be specially checked. The letter also directed the postal staff to be vigilant during mail-order bookings and deliveries.

It should be noted that the judges of the Supreme Court, Islamabad High Court and Lahore High Court received threatening letters in which suspicious powder was also present.

On the other hand, five more Supreme Court (SC) judges received suspicious letters here on Friday.

The letters have been received in the name of Supreme Court Justice Muneeb Akhtar, Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar, Justice Hassan Azhar Rizvi, Justice Irfan Saadat Khan and Justice Ayesha Malik.
