12th edition of IDEAS 2024 kicks off at Karachi

KARACHI: The 12th edition of International Defence Exhibition and Seminar (IDEAS 2024) commenced at Karachi Expo Centre on Tuesday.

Inaugurated by Federal Minister for Defence and Defence Production Khawaja Muhammad Asif, the exhibition will continue till 22 November 2024.

Besides trade visitors, more than 350 high-level delegations from 55 countries are visiting the exhibition, a mega-regional event; biennially organized by Defence Export Promotion Organization (DEPO) in Pakistan, said a statement issued by Defence Export Promotion Organization (DEPO) in Pakistan.

Since its inception in the year 2000, IDEAS has emerged as an international rendezvous for defence manufacturers, entrepreneurs, R&D specialists, financial experts and top-level policymakers to promote cooperation, knowledge sharing and support ventures in the field of defence collaboration. Indeed, IDEAS is an event that brings together the global defence industry for synergistic businesses and cooperation.

In his inaugural address, the federal minister said that today, Pakistan offered enormous opportunities for profitable investments, joint ventures and trade in all sectors including the defence industry.

He said that IDEAS served as a regional gateway for international manufacturers and suppliers to explore new avenues of defence cooperation through joint ventures, outsourcing and collaboration.

Asif said technologies were playing a vital role in confronting modern-day security challenges and their responsible use can make the world a better and safer place.

IDEAS 2024 has surpassed all previous milestones in terms of space, booking, exhibitors and delegates both domestic and foreign.

KARACHI:  Sindh government has imposed Section 144 in Karachi as the city hosts 12th edition of the International Defence Exhibition and Seminar (IDEAS-24) at the Expo Centre from November 19 to 22, 2024.

On the occasion of Defence Exhibition Ideas 2024 in Karachi, protests and rallies have been banned for 7 days as part of security measures.

Demonstrations and rallies have been banned in Karachi as part of security measures on the occasion of Ideas 2024. No protests or sit-ins will be allowed in Karachi from November 18 to 24.

According to the notification, on the request of Additional IG Police of Karachi Range, Commissioner Karachi Syed Hasan Naqvi has imposed a complete ban on public gatherings under Section 144 in urban limits for 7 days.

A notification issued in this regard states that public gatherings of more than five people will not be allowed during the given period. Similar restrictions have also been imposed in Islamabad in a notification issued by the Additional Deputy Commissioner.

The defence exhibition will open today after Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif inaugurates it. The exhibition will be organised by the Defence Export Promotion Organisation (DEPO), under the aegis of the Ministry of Defence and Defence Production, aiming to promote Pakistan’s defence industry internationally.

The event as per its traditions will showcase splendid activities encompassing world’s advanced defence technology demonstrations, international seminar, IDEAS Tri-Services Karachi Show, networking, and business expansions through B2B and B2G engagements.

KARACHI: Governor Sindh Kamran Khan Tessori has said that business community is ready to stabilize the national economy.

Sindh Governor Kamran Khan Tessori while addressing the “My Karachi Oasis of Colours Exhibition at Expo Centre, said that more than 300 exhibitors are participating in this exhibition. He said Siraj Qasim Teli started this exhibition in 2004.

He said, “Pakistan has a lot of resources but we do not know the direction at this time, I ask the rulers to tell our nation what the direction is, while our business community is ready to give stability to Pakistan.”

He said, “”We can do a lot as Allah has blessed us everything, we become good doctors and engineers but we should become good human beings.”

He also said “today I wonder what would have happened if there were no welfare institutions in the country and the middle class has disappeared today due to inflation, while the state has not been able to provide what it had to give.”

Kamran Tessori said that the city is under the control of mafias, whether it is garbage, electricity, gas or water, everything is scattered.

He said that let’s pledge that we will fight these mafias together.
