Meat As An Only Source Of Nutrition Can Be Risky: Expert Says

Meat
  • Meat provides proteins which is necessary for bone health.
  • But too much protein from red meat can harm bones.
  • One should not rely solely on red meat for protein.

Meat provides proteins which is necessary for bone health, but eating too much animal protein, particularly red meat, can harm your bones.

Consumption of animal protein has been linked to bone composition. Protein is necessary for bone health, but the amount consumed can have both positive and negative effects.

One should not rely solely on it for protein, but should also include dairy, fish, chicken, and even plant-based protein sources in their diet.

Protein should be supplemented with fruits, vegetables, and whole grains. According to nutritionists, animal protein has a high phosphorus-to-calcium ratio, which increases calcium excretion and can cause bone demineralization.

Aside from that, eating animal protein can make the blood acidic and cause calcium to be removed from the bones.
