She added that she would advise her 18-year-old self not to be too harsh on herself.

Filmmaker Farhan Akhtar recently unveiled one of the most anticipated movies of the past decade, confirming the production of Don 3. Initially, he tantalized fans with the iconic Don theme and the number ‘3’ logo, signaling the official revival of Don 3. The surprise was complete as he revealed Ranveer Singh as the new Don, even though a teaser has already showcased the actor’s look for the film. However, the female lead’s identity remains undisclosed. Amid speculations that Kiara Advani might be cast opposite Ranveer, Farhan Akhtar has shared insights about the casting process.

In a recent interview, Farhan acknowledged the ongoing process of selecting the lead heroine but refrained from prematurely revealing her name. He stated, “Well, it’s all work in progress. I don’t wanna get ahead of myself and say something that I may have to take back for any other reason but as and when it happens, you’ll know.”

Previous reports had indicated that Kiara Advani had engaged in discussions with the makers and had even visited the Excel Entertainment office, producers of Don 3, suggesting her potential involvement. People will slowly but surely start understanding what we are gonna do with him so we need a little bit of time on that.”

Farhan Akhtar has now addressed these concerns while also revealing additional information about the film’s production schedule. During a recent interview, the director discussed the decision to cast Ranveer as the new Don. He shared that Ranveer also experienced apprehension about stepping into the shoes of Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan. Farhan mentioned their shared experience when Shah Rukh Khan replaced Amitabh Bachchan as Don, saying, “I’m just really looking forward to getting it going. I mean Ranveer is amazing. He’s great for the part. He’s also as you can imagine, really excited and really nervous, about the thing you’re filling some big shoes before you. But we went through the same emotional process when Shah Rukh did it and everyone was like ‘Oh my God, how can you replace Mr. Bachchan?.’ That whole thing happened then.”

Elaborating on why Ranveer is well-suited for the role, Farhan added, “It really is about an actor coming in and owning the part and making it really like, giving it their style and their flair. And he has that, he has that in spades. So, he’s going to do a great job. I think the responsibility is more mine now to make sure that the script and the film work out the way I imagine.” When asked about the qualities that make for a good Don, Farhan responded, “Self-confidence, flamboyance, and the ability to do anything that your mind is set on.”

Farhan Akhtar also revealed fresh details about the film’s shooting schedule, stating that production is scheduled to commence in January 2025.

Previously, after the release of the first look teaser, Ranveer took to Instagram to express his heartfelt sentiments. He shared how playing the role of Don had been his childhood dream and hoped that the audience would give him the opportunity to carry forward the character’s legacy.

The latest installment of the iconic Don franchise will feature Ranveer Singh stepping into the shoes of the legendary characters portrayed by Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan in 1978 and 2006, respectively. The stylish and adrenaline-pumping action thriller was officially announced today through a promotional teaser that introduces Ranveer as the modern-day Don. The highly awaited movie is slated to hit theaters in 2025. While production is still in the future, reports suggest that the hunt for the female lead opposite Ranveer is already underway.

Recalling Shah Rukh’s unwavering commitment during an 18-day shoot for “Brahmastra,” without any monetary compensation, Johar elaborated, “He just gave his heart, time, body everything for that sequence. It was a large sequence. If I go again to him, it will be too much. Shah Rukh never says no to me. But I can’t keep going to him. I think you need to keep that card very close. I will use it because I have that kind of access to Mr Khan but I don’t want to keep using it for no reason.”

It’s worth noting that Karan Johar produced “Brahmastra,” directed by Ayan Mukerji, which stars Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor.

With Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh in the lead roles, the film has witnessed a remarkable second weekend overseas, adding USD 3.40 million to its total and bringing the international earnings close to USD 10.50 million. The movie’s outstanding hold in the second week, dropping just 20 percent, is a rarity among major Bollywood releases. Alongside its impressive domestic collection of approximately Rs. 120 crores, the film has crossed the coveted milestone of Rs. 200 crores worldwide. Its strong momentum indicates the potential to surpass USD 15 million in the international market, and a final worldwide total of Rs. 300 crores is within reach, depending on its performance against the upcoming competition.

North America Box Office: The film’s best hold came in North America, where it experienced a minimal drop of less than 5 percent, grossing USD 1.64 million in its second weekend and reaching a total gross of USD 4.72 million. This places “Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani” in the sixth position for the highest second-weekend collections for a Bollywood film in North America. The movie’s strong performance is evident as it climbed from outside the top 20 during its first weekend. With an estimated projection of over USD 7 million, the film is expected to continue its success in this region.

Middle East Box Office: After a slow start, the Middle East rebounded well, contributing USD 2.28 million to the film’s overseas earnings as of Sunday. The UAE market, in particular, has been exceptional, with a decline of just 25 percent from the first weekend. This is noteworthy considering the market’s frontloaded nature compared to others in the region.

Australia and United Kingdom Box Office: Australia and the United Kingdom also showcased strong performance with a second-weekend drop of only 25 percent. However, the film’s potential was limited by poor distribution, resulting in a significant reduction in screen count during the second week. Despite this setback, “Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani” managed to remain close to grossing a million in both territories.
