Battagram Chairlift Rescue: Pakistani Celebrities Applaud Hero’s Bravery

A young man has gained recognition as a hero for his remarkable actions in saving seven children and their teachers who were trapped on a chairlift after a cable snapped incident in Battagram.

Muhammad Sohaib’s courageous role in the 14-hour rescue operation has received widespread admiration. The challenging task unfolded in the rugged terrain of Allai Tehsil, situated within the mountainous area.

During an aerial operation, the Pakistan Army successfully rescued a child through a sling operation. However, due to unfavourable weather conditions and darkness, the aerial rescue was suspended. At this point, Muhammad Sohaib willingly volunteered to participate in the ongoing rescue efforts.

Sohaib exhibited immense bravery as he manoeuvred on an improvised dolly, using a rope to individually rescue each child from the stranded chairlift. Muhammad Ali Swati and Ilyas, two other young individuals from the Mansehra district, also contributed to the mission.

When the evening halted aerial efforts, Sohaib initiated a conventional ground operation that efficiently rescued all passengers within a few hours.

Thanks to the combined dedication of the rescue team, all passengers were safely brought down, effectively concluding the operation. Muhammad Sohaib was hailed as a hero and received praise and rewards from various individuals in Battagram.

Celebrities like Farhan Saeed, Zunaira Inam Khan, Minal Khan, and Momal Sheikh took to their Instagram accounts to commend the hero for his courageous act. The incident occurred on a Tuesday morning when a group of eight people found themselves suspended in a cable car, 900 feet above the ground, following a cable malfunction. The rescue effort began in the morning, but it wasn’t until late evening that the first two children could be rescued.

Anwar Maqsood was featured in a video from a session titled An Evening With Mahira Khan that recently went viral on social media. The well-known author disparaged Maryam Aurangzeb and Maryam Nawaz, two female leaders of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N).

Khan was heard in the video asking about two women who were shouting and fighting, to which Maqsood replied that they were Maryam Nawaz and Maryam Aurangzeb.

Anwar further added, “I am prohibited from discussing politics, and I cannot make any personal remarks. We can only hope that things will improve shortly. What you stated about people abusing one another—I used poisoning as an example—happens in real life as well. Also, neither of them are character performers.”

Because this comment opted to specifically target the female lawmakers using the same misogynistic assumptions Khan was denouncing in her session, it was properly criticised. Twitter users criticised Khan for her selective morality and urged the actor to consider the feminist values she is promoting. Why is she constantly condemning the usage of derogatory terms against women while simultaneously supporting this method of publicly shaming female politicians? Baffling.

There are books written about Mahira Khan’s character, and she is known for even flattering Indian actors for the sake of money and Anwar Maqsood is filled with hatred at this point of his life.”

How deeply ingrained misogyny is in this nation is demonstrated by the politician making such despicable remarks about Khan and Maqsood and whose party is currently in power. Celebrities like Atiqa Odho and Farhan Saeed publicly denounced Dr Ullah Khan’s words for displaying his misogynist mindset.

Pakistan is undoubtedly experiencing the worst of times, plagued by political unrest, a slowing economy, and inflation. The already terrible scenario is further compounded by the police attempts to arrest former Prime Minister Imran Khan in Lahore. As police officers are currently at Khan’s residence Zaman Park in Lahore to arrest him on suspicion of two arrest warrants charging corruption and “terrorism,” Khan’s supporters aren’t dissipating despite being shot at with tear gas and water cannon.

Millions of Khan’s fans have assembled to pursue “genuine freedom,” using anything from physical force to cause commotion on social media platforms. Everyone, from commoners to celebrities, is speaking up. Lollywood actor Muneeb Butt said, “Imran khan’s Arrest today! Blatant fascism at it’s peak.”

In an unexpected outcome, Punjab police used water cannons and tear gas on Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) members to disperse Imran Khan supporters’ protest rally in Lahore’s Zaman Park. Ali Bilal, a fan of Khan, was killed while other people were detained for breaking the government’s ban on conducting protests.

Lollywood celebrities have spoken out about the anarchy that is currently enveloping one of Pakistan’s biggest cities due to political instability, while the internet erupts in fits of wrath and millions of people condemn the terrible acts, branding them nothing but fascism. Between the ruling party and the opposition, Pakistan had seen numerous political crises.

Imran Khan, the then-prime minister and current leader of the opposition, was deposed by a no-confidence vote in Parliament in April. Khan has argued that his removal was unlawful multiple times and has demanded early legislative elections. Shehbaz Sharif, Khan’s replacement, has, however, rejected any requests.

Celebrities like Farhan Saeed, Shagufta Ejaz, and Reema Khan have denounced the brutality local police have displayed towards PTI supporters. Farhan Saeed has resorted to social media and lashed out at his fellow countrymen for not raising a voice against the escalating prices.

He tweeted, “Pakistaniyon, tum 500 rs litre bhi dalwa loge. Afsos! (Pakistanis would even be okay if the petrol prices were increased to Rs500 per litre. Sad state of affairs). The nations that don’t stand up for themselves, deserve this and worse.”

At the end of the previous month, the price of gasoline increased sharply by Rs 35 per litre, mostly as a result of the significant depreciation of the rupee versus the dollar. According to a statement from the finance ministry, the rupee’s decline against the dollar is also to blame for the most recent increase in the price of gasoline and diesel.

The government has also raised the price of kerosene oil by Rs12.90 per litre and light diesel oil by LDO Rs9.68 per litre, according to the finance ministry. After the increase, the cost of gasoline increased to Rs272 per litre from Rs249.80 per litre, representing an increase of Rs22.60 per litre.

Ushna Shah was also seen giving her opinion on the matter. She said she loved Pakistan and its people, but that it was tough to love someone when you can’t have a carefree life since basic supplies aren’t readily available.

Earlier, Fahad Mirza called Feroze a “moron of the greatest order” when criticising him on social media.

“Feroze Khan is really vindictive and ignorant for adding the personal numbers of all those stars and then making it public,” Mirza said, adding that he doesn’t like to remark on “crap.” After this knee-jerk reaction, he has really shown that he is an idiot of the greatest level, and I am confident that anything his wife says about him must be true, the speaker continued.

The legal document was initially uploaded by Feroze on social media, but he then took it down and replaced it with a tweet about his legal team sending defamation notifications to anyone who made false and unfounded claims. Unfortunately, the notice had already been extensively disseminated and was being viewed by many of his followers by the time he took it down from his official Twitter account.

In response to accusations of domestic abuse made against him by his former wife Aliza Sultan, actor Khan said on Tuesday that he has placed defamation notices on several other celebrities.

The “Khuda Aur Muhabbat” actor published nine celebrity names along with their personal details like mobile phone numbers on Instagram. He eventually removed it.

The names of Sarwat and Minal Khan, who have vowed to sue Feroze Khan, are stated in the notice.

Gilani posted an image of what looks to be her mobile phone call log on Instagram, showing more than 100 missed calls from unknown callers.

“It is odd and horrible that private information, including phone numbers of numerous renowned individuals, has been publicly disseminated on the ridiculous pretense of sending legal notice to them by Feroze Khan,” she wrote as the description of her post.

Actor Minal Khan also posted on Instagram with the message, “Yesterday, my personal information, including my phone number, was published on social media. Feroze Khan deliberately committed this extremely despicable conduct under the ridiculous pretense of serving legal notice.

She admitted that his actions had caused her a great deal of “mental pain” because she had been inundated with phone calls and messages.

Hussain posted a screenshot of a man who had been relentlessly pestering him with requests to be cast in TV dramas. He attacked Feroze Khan for exposing personal information.

“A dumb man beat his wife and then disclosed our numbers to the general public. Due to this, the child is now pleading with me to put him in a drama or else he would demand Rs. 1 lac. Please advise what I should do,” He added.

The individual had written him a lot of messages, which he posted in the next post. However, he made note that he would not publicly share the individual’s phone number, as Feroze Khan had done.

Hussain also posted a screenshot of Meesha Shafi’s Instagram post in which she expressed her support and solidarity with the 10 actresses who had received defamation letters from Feroze Khan, claiming that she could relate because she had experienced a similar situation.

“Having suffered the most malifide defamation case…I just want to tell anyone who might be stressing about this stupid case that he’s going to lose in every way in the end. Karma is real. All my solidarity to each and everyone of you, especially Alizeh.”

He also posted a screenshot of one of his conversations in which the spammer apologized and said he was a big fan of the actor Falak Shabbir and asked Hussain to assist him in reaching out to him.

Recently, Feroze Khan filed a legal notice against all the actors who posted negative comments about him. A few of the celebrities on the list were, Syeda Aliza Fatima- ex-wife, Musaddiq Malik, Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy, Osman Khalid Butt, Farhan Saeed Butt.
