Prince Michael of Kent, British Queen Elizabeth’s cousin, has stepped down as patron of a Kremlin-linked trade organisation in response to the invasion of Ukraine.

Michael of Kent, who has extensive commercial contacts with Russia, resigned as patron of the Russo-British Chamber of Commerce after being pressured to cut all ties with Moscow.

Previously, he returned one of Russia’s highest honours, the ‘Order of Friendship,’ when his links to the Kremlin were called into question following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

In 2009, he got the award from former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev for his work on Anglo-Russian ties.

Meanwhile, Prince and Princess Michael of Kent attended the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee event earlier this week at London’s Royal Albert Hall.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry makes Charities in Ukraine

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle revealed that they had donated an undisclosed donation to various organisations trying to offer help in Ukraine as the country battles a Russian invasion.

The announcement comes just one day after a Ukrainian athlete who had competed in Harry’s Invictus Games was killed in the ongoing crisis in Ukraine.

Serhii Karaivan’s death was confirmed by both Harry and Meghan in an official statement made on Friday by their organisation, Archewell.

They also revealed in their statement that they had donated to various organisations, including The Halo Trust, a landmine removal charity, and HIAS, an international organisation that assists refugees.

They also mentioned that they had donated to “a coalition of domestic media such as Kyiv Independent, supported through Are We Europe.”

Earlier, during their acceptance speech at the NAACP Image Awards, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex paid tribute to the Ukrainian cause.
