Rajpal Yadav speaks about Bollywood’s anti-Pakistan themes in films

Rajpal Yadav
  • Rajpal Yadav spoke about the Indian film industry’s approach to filmmaking.
  • He emphasized that only a small fraction focus on anti-Pakistan themes.
  • He reiterated that it would be inaccurate to generalize them.

Bollywood comedian Rajpal Yadav recently spoke about the Indian film industry’s approach to filmmaking, emphasizing that only a small fraction of films focus on anti-Pakistan themes.

Speaking on Nadir Ali’s podcast, he stated, “Bollywood produces around 500 films annually, and only two of them touch upon anti-Pakistan themes, which are purely based on the director’s personal choice.”

He reiterated that generalizing them as the industry’s overall stance would be inaccurate. He also subtly hinted that objections should not be raised against the two anti-Pakistan films made annually, though he did not explicitly state this opinion.

During the conversation, Yadav shared insights about his personal life, revealing that he comes from a large joint family. He has six brothers, and together they have 14 children. He noted that it is too early to determine if any of them will enter the entertainment industry.

Discussing his career, he admitted to taking on certain roles out of necessity, even when he was not particularly interested, but some of them unexpectedly became successful. He also disclosed that his highest paycheck came from the 2006 film Chup Chup Ke.

On cross-border entertainment, he mentioned that just as Indian films are popular in Pakistan, Pakistani dramas also have a significant audience in India. He further revealed that his film Main, Meri Patni Aur Woh was initially planned to be shot in Pakistan but had to be relocated due to unforeseen circumstances.
