ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court(IHC) reserved its decision on the request to remove the name of former minister Shireen Mazari from the passport control list.

Justice Tariq Jahangiri of the Islamabad High Court heard the petition, in which the Additional Attorney General and Deputy Attorney General appeared in the court on behalf of the federal government.

During the hearing, the court inquired that there are criminal cases against many people in Islamabad, and why only Shireen Mazari’s name was included. On this, the lawyer said that there are 7 cases registered against Shireen Mazari, and her travel history is quite high.

The court said that it did not matter whether the cases were registered or the travel history was high.

Later, after hearing the arguments of the parties, the court reserved its decision on Shireen Mazari’s request.

Caretaker PM to represent Pakistan in COP-28 high-level segment

ISLAMABAD: Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar will represent Pakistan during the high level segment of 28th Conference of Parties (COP-28) being held in the United Arab Emirates on December 01-02.

The prime minister chaired an inter-provincial review meeting with regard to the COP-28. The meeting was attended by the caretaker federal ministers for finance, foreign affairs, climate change and planning, and relevant officials.

PM Kakar said that climate change was an issue of national endurance for the countries like Pakistan and observed that Pakistan was playing a positive role in the global climate debate through climate diplomacy.

He said that despite its less than one percent imprints in the global climate change factors, Pakistan was amongst the countries hugely affected by the changes.

One third of the country’s population was badly affected by the climate induced floods, he added.

The prime minister also lauded the relevant institutions and organizations of the country for their best role in the reconstruction efforts in the post-flood period.

He also directed the relevant authorities to make full preparations for representing Pakistan’s stance during the COP-28 on climate finance and other issues effectively.

LAHORE: The Lahore High Court(LHC) ordered the re-sealing of 84 factories that were desealed in violation of the court order and also indicated action against the responsible officers.

Justice Shahid Karim of Lahore High Court heard the petitions filed for the remediation of smog and environmental pollution.

The LDA lawyer said that 84 factories were sealed on the court order, which has been de-sealed by the Environment Tribunal. The officials responsible for burning crop residue in the Nankana Sahab district have been suspended.

The Lahore High Court has asked for the names of the officers who de-sealed the smoke-emitting factories and kilns.  The court ordered that all the de-sealed factories be re-sealed and showed the order of the Environment Tribunal, and how the tribunal de-sealed the factories. The names of the officers de-sealed should be given.

The court said that action would be taken against all of them under the PEDA Act, if any officer obeys the order of anyone other than this court, then he will be suspended, if something is sealed by a court order, then it will be not be de-sealed by another order.

ISLAMABAD: A sub-committee of the Federal Cabinet has recommended the names of Chairman Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) along with 29 others in the Exit Control Lists in the 190 million pound scam.

A meeting of the sub-committee on ECL of the federal cabinet was held in which the caretaker interior minister Sarfaraz Bugti, the caretaker Minister of Communication Shahid Ashraf, and the officers of the Ministry of interior and other institutions participated while the various types of cases related to ECL were reviewed in the meeting.

The cabinet sub-committee has recommended putting the names of 41 people on ECL, in which 29 others, including chairman PTI, have been recommended to be given ECL on the recommendation of NAB in the £190 million scam.

Sources said that the committee has also recommended the names of Shahzad Akbar, Zulfi Bukhari, Farah Gogi, and property tycoon to be included in the ECL.

The committee also recommended the removal of 13 different types of cases from ECL and on the instructions of judiciary, names of seven persons have been recommended to be removed from ECL.

Apart from this, out of the appeals presented for review, it has been recommended to remove the names of three persons from the ECL.
