SJC issues notice to Justice (retd) Mazahar Naqvi

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Judicial Council(SJC) has issued a notice to former judge Justice (Retd) Sayyed Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi.

The Supreme Judicial Council has issued a notice to the resigned judge Mazahar Naqvi.

The Supreme Judicial Council has given another chance to the resigned judge Mazahar Naqvi, the council said that Mazahar Naqvi can appear in the council tomorrow and give his opinion if he wants.

The council said that if Mazahar Naqvi’s lawyers ask for time, the complainants will be heard.

The Supreme Judicial Council has decided that the proceedings of the Council will continue Friday the proceedings of the Supreme Judicial Council have been postponed till 11:30 tomorrow.

On the other hand, President Dr Arif Alvi approved the resignation of the Supreme Court Judge Justice Sayyed Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi.

The president approved the resignation on the advice of the prime minister in the exercise of the power under Article 179 of the Constitution.

ISLAMABAD:  Supreme Court judge Justice Sayyed Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi has resigned from the post over misconduct allegations.

Supreme Court judge Justice Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi has sent his resignation to the President of Pakistan.

Earlier, Justice Mazahar Naqvi had submitted a detailed response to the show cause to the Supreme Judicial Council.

In his reply, Justice Mazahar Naqvi denied the allegations leveled against him and said that the Supreme Judicial Council can take information against the judge but the council cannot act on any complaint against the judge.

In the detailed reply, it has been said that the orders issued by the Supreme Judicial Council are tantamount to contempt of the rules, according to the rules, the person giving information to the council has no role in the proceedings.

Justice Mazahar Naqvi also objected to the appointment of the Attorney General as a prosecutor and said that one of the complainants in the council is the Pakistan Bar Council and the complaints of the Bar councils have been filed against the political and the PDM government.

In his reply, Justice Mazahar further said that the Pakistan Bar met the then Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on February 21. On the day of the meeting with Shahbaz Sharif, the Pakistan Bar approved the resolution to file the complaint.

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Judicial Council(SJC) again issued a show-cause notice to Supreme Court Judge Sayyed Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi.

The meeting of the Supreme Judicial Council was chaired by Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa in which the complaints against Justice Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi were examined.

According to the sources, a notice was issued to Justice Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi in ​​light of the evidence that came out in the meeting.

The Supreme Judicial Council has said in a show cause that Justice Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi should respond to the show cause notice within 14 days.

According to the sources, Justice Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi had objected to the details of the complaints against him being recorded in the show cause, the council reviewed the complaints and their objections against Justice Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi for three consecutive days.

Sources said that the Supreme Judicial Council issued a detailed show cause notice.

Justice Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi was also issued a show cause notice in the October 27 council meeting.
