PM Kakar for expanding cooperation with Turkiye

ISLAMABAD: Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar stressed the need to enhance bilateral cooperation with Turkiye in multiple sectors, including trade, agriculture, energy, mining, IT and defence.

Talking to Ambassador of Turkiye in Pakistan Mehmet Pacaci, the prime minister said Pakistan was keen to attract foreign investors and the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) had been established to generate new and attractive investment opportunities in priority sectors.

He said in addition to having strong and time-tested bilateral relations, Pakistan and Turkiye shared convergence and close cooperation on a wide range of regional and multilateral issues, including efforts to combat Islamophobia.

He appreciated Turkiye’s reconstruction efforts following the tragic earthquake of February 2023 and reiterated Pakistan’s readiness to continue extending all possible support to the Turkish people.

The prime minister thanked President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and the Turkish leadership for their warm messages of felicitations on his assumption of office.

He said the people of Pakistan enjoyed a historic, cultural and fraternal relationship with Turkiye. President Erdogan enjoyed the same popularity in Pakistan as in his own country.

PM Kakar also praised Turkiye for its long-standing and steadfast support to Pakistan on the Jammu and Kashmir issue.

Earlier, Caretaker Commerce Minister Gohar Ijaz called on Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar and discussed matters relating to mutual interests.

During the meeting, the commerce minister briefed the prime minister about measures being taken to promote the country’s exports.

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Bar Council(PBC) has announced a boycott of the dinner in honor of outgoing Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial.

The Vice Chairman of Pakistan Bar Council, Haroon Al Rasheed, has said in a note to Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial that the PBC will not participate in the dinner of outing CJP in protest.

The announcement of the Pakistan Bar Council has said that Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial is not taking the full court reference therefore PBC will not participate in the dinner in honor of the Chief Justice in protest.

The statement said that the Pakistan Bar points out the judicial flaws and merits in the reference of the Chief Justice.

The Vice Chairman of the Pakistan Bar Council also issued his speech on the absence of the farewell reference of the Chief Justice.

In the speech of Vice Chairman PBC Haroon Rasheed, the tenure of Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial has been criticized.

He says that the PBC is a regulatory body of lawyers and he is listening to the concerns of lawyers. He further said 60,000 cases are pending in the Supreme Court and no transparent procedure has been made to determine and dispose of the pending cases.

Haroon-ul-Rashid says that the Chief Justice never met the PBC representatives despite repeated requests. The Chief Justice replied that if the Supreme Court is in touch with the Bar, there is no need for a meeting.

He says that PBC will not request to appoint a case in which their interest is hidden, and do not make such remarks at the beginning of any case that the result is already known.

ISLAMABAD: Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Human Rights and Women Empowerment, Mushaal Hussein Mullick vowed to continue raising issues of oppressed people in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) at all international forums.

Addressing ‘Pehchan Pakistan’ conference here at a private university, she said Kashmiris were struggling for the past seven decades for their inalienable right to self-determination as promised by the United Nations.

Mushaal Mullick said India had miserably failed to suppress  voice of Kashmiris for freedom despite deployment of more than a million troops in IIOJK.

She said nobody was safe in the occupied valley as women and children were being disgraced, and freedom lover youth and other people were being severely tortured.

The special assistant said fake and expired medicines were being supplied to continue genocide of Kashmiri people.

She said there was no political, religious and social liberty in IIOJK and massive human rights violations by the occupation Indian forces were routine matter.
