KARACHI: Vice Chancellor Jinnah Sindh Medical University (JSMU) Prof Dr Amjad Siraj Memon said that the sacrifices made by our ancestors in the struggle for independence are a reminder of the importance of freedom and democracy. We should never forget the debt we owe to those who fought for our freedom.

While addressing to the students, VC said on this Independence Day, “I want to congratulate you on being the future of our great nation. You are the ones who will shape the destiny of Pakistan, and I am confident that you will do so with courage, determination, and vision”.

“We live in a time of great change and opportunity. The world is becoming increasingly interconnected, and Pakistan has a unique opportunity to play a leading role in the global community. We have a young, skilled workforce, a rich history and culture, and a strong commitment to democracy and human rights. We need to improve our education system and healthcare system and we need to build a more tolerant and inclusive society. I believe that you are the generation that can overcome these challenges and build a better future for Pakistan.” he added.

On the occasion of Pakistan’s 76th Independence Day, the Jinnah Sindh Medical University (JSMU) celebrated a series of patriotic events. The official independence day celebration, set for August 14th, was marked by the presence of esteemed figure of the university Vice Chancellor Prof. Amjad Siraj Memon, Pro Vice Chancellor Prof. Saadia Akram and and others.

The program included the rendition of the national anthem, a flag hoisting ceremony, and a cake cutting ceremony, showing a spirit of patriotism.

After the flag hoisting ceremony, Vice Chancellor JSMU  Prof Amjad Siraj Memon said that many brave men and women gave their lives so that we could live in a free and independent country. They faced great challenges and hardships, but they never gave up. Their courage and determination inspired others to join the fight for independence. We owe a debt of gratitude to all those who made the ultimate sacrifice so that we could enjoy the freedom we have today.

NAB rearrested former CM Punjab Pervaiz Elahi

RAWALPINDI: National Accountability Bureau(NAB) re-arrested former Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi after he was released from Adiala Jail.

According to the details, former Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi was released from Adiala Jail on completion of the detention period, NAB had asked for details of records of assets of Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi, Moonis Elahi, and his family.

According to NAB sources, NAB has also started an inquiry against Moonis Elahi for assets beyond income.

NAB sources say that Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi will be taken on remand and shifted to Lahore.

NAB Prosecutor Rafi Maqsood will give arguments on the transit remand. Pervaiz Elahi will be sent to Lahore if the transit remand is approved.

On the other hand, a question was asked the journalist that Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi is being arrested again and again, to which the PTI president replied, “Let him fulfill his wish”.

It should be noted that the former Chief Minister of Punjab Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi was taken out of Camp Jail Lahore on July 19 and taken to adiala Jail. Pervaiz Elahi was detained under 3 MPO and his detention orders were issued by the Deputy Commissioner Lahore for 30 days.

CM performs soft launch of Karachi safe city

KARACHI:  Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has the Karachi Safe City Project is not just a collection of surveillance cameras and technological advancements; it embodies our collective aspiration for a safer and more secure environment.

This he said while speaking at the contract signing ceremony of Integrated C5ISR Based (Command, Control, Communication, Computer, Cyber Security, Intelligence, Surveillance & Reconnaissance) Safe City Project here at the CM House.

He said that the Karachi Safe City Project was not merely the installation of surveillance cameras and adopting technological advancements, but it embodied our collective aspiration for a safer and more secure urban environment. “With the challenges that a rapidly growing city like Karachi faces, it is our duty to ensure that every citizen must feel safe and secure and this project brings us one step closer to achieving that goal,” he said.

The CM said that he was aware of the urgency attached to this project. “The safety and well-being of our citizens cannot wait, and we must remain steadfast in our pursuit of its successful implementation,” he said.

“I am honored to launch the much-awaited launch of the safe city project before leaving the charge of this office,” he said and added that it was a testament to the foresight and dedication of the Sindh government.

He said that the Sindh Safe Cities Authority board and its director general and NRTC have worked hard to make the project a reality.

Murad Ali Shah said that his government has always placed the needs and aspirations of our citizens at the forefront of its agenda. “We understand the challenges faced by our cities in this rapidly evolving world, and we are not merely content with acknowledging these challenges, but we strive to confront them head-on, with determination and innovation.

CM said that the Safe City Project would enhance law enforcement capabilities, improve emergency response times, and deter criminal activities. He added that the integrated approach aligned with our commitment to creating a city that was not only prosperous but also safe for all its residents.

KARACHI:  Azadi Festival was organized on the occasion of the 76th Independence Day by the Arts Council of Pakistan(ACP) Karachi from August 13 to 14.

Musical concert, fireworks, flag hoisting and cutting of Azadi cake were held in the two-day festival. Commissioner Karachi Muhammad Iqbal Memon.

President Arts Council Muhammad Ahmad Shah, Secretary Arts Council Ijaz Farooqui and other governing body members also participated.

The second day of the festival started with drumming and musical performance, Citizens were rushed to the stall of face paintings while the enthusiasm of children, old and young people holding the green flag could be seen.

Speaking at the Azadi Festival, President Arts Council Mohammad Ahmad Shah said that the enemies of Pakistan think that the youth of Pakistan are don’t love Pakistan, their love for their flag, their love for Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah has diminished, we have to throw out the enemies in the ranks, He said that for the sake of the country we have to be united under the flag of Pakistan.
