ACP to organise 16th Aalmi Urdu Conference from Nov 30

KARACHI: 16th Aalmi Urdu Conference by Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi will be held from November 30 to December 3 at Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi.

This was announced by the President of Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi Muhammad Ahmad Shah in a press conference held regarding the 16 Almi Urdu Conference. Muhammad Ahmed Shah, eminent poet Iftikhar Arif, Senior Journalist Ghazi Salahuddin, Author Noor ul Huda Shah, Qudsia Akbar and Secretary Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi Aijaz Farooqi briefed the media.

President of Art Council Mohammad Ahmed Shah said that today is a very big event for us. 4 days 16th Aalmi Conference will start on 30th November at 4:00 pm. Chief Minister of Sindh Justice (Retd) Maqbool Baqir will inaugurate the festival. Gulzar and Javed Siddiqui will be participate via Zoom from India.

Shah further highlighted that the Aalmi Urdu conference is the culture after that numerous festivals were started. The renowned authors of the various languages were happy at the same stage. Previous year we thought that we must hold the sessions in Sindhi, Phusto, Balochi, Saraeiki, Punjabi and other languages.

Arts Council will launch the book of renowned author of India Javed Siddiqui and he is also the scriptwriter of the “Dil Waly Dhulania Ly Jain Gy”. ACP also launch Indian Journalist Saeed Naqvi’s book “Muslman La Pta Hogay”.

While speaking to the Media Noor ul Huda Shah said Arts Council Karachi organized festivals at Lahore, Kashmir and Sukkur. The meaning of the Ahmed Shah and Arts Council was changed after these experimental events. We observed huge mass at these festivals as compared to the political parties’ sessions. Literature is the only source to spread awareness. Ahmed Shah provides the platform for freedom of opinion.

First ever Hijra Festival set to be held on Nov 10 in Karachi

KARACHI: The transgender community of Pakistan has announced to organize a ‘Hijra Festival’ for the first time in the country’s history, which will be held on the 10th of this month at the Karachi Arts Council.

Among the objectives of this one-day ‘Hijra Festival’, according to its organizers, is to provide an opportunity to the transgender community to meet each other and celebrate a day of joy together, on the one hand and on the other is to draw the attention of the mainstream society towards the issues faced by the transgender community.

This official announcement was made by Hina Pathani, the head of the organizing committee of ‘Hijra Festival’, other members of the committee, Bebo Haider, Kami Sid, Nisha Rao and Dr. Sara Gill while addressing the press conference held at the Karachi Press Club.

It should be noted that Hina Pathani and Bebo Haider are known for their long struggle for transgender rights in Pakistan, while Kami Sid is Pakistan’s first transgender model, while Advocate Nisha Rao is Pakistan’s first transgender lawyer and Dr. Sara Gill is the first transgender doctor in the country.

Addressing the press conference, the leaders said that the ‘Hijra Festival’ is actually a part of the struggle to give the transgender community of Pakistan their rights and a dignified place in the society. “This festival will be a jubilee in the life of the most discriminated and inhumanely treated community in the country,” they said, adding that the ‘Hijra Festival’ will help to highlight the positive face of country at the global level as well.

Giving details about the festival, the leaders said that the historic festival will start with a rally, which will be taken out from Fawara Chowk Zainab Street (near Governor House) to Arts Council. The ‘Hijra Festival’ is expected to be attended by a large number of people from all walks of life, as well as people from the transgender community across the country.

Pakistan Theatre Festival 2023 will kick off from Sep 8

  •  The theatre festival will continue for a whole month.
  • 7 international theatre groups will be participating.
  •  President ACP said this will be the biggest festival in Pakistan.

KARACHI: Pakistan Theatre Festival 2023 will begin from September 8 at the Arts Council of Pakistan (ACP) Karachi.

The festival will run for a whole month in which there will be 45 Shows in 30 days, there are seven international theatre groups will be participating and 27 different theatre groups from all around Pakistan will also be part of festival.

These views were expressed by President ACP Muhammad Ahmed Shah in a press Conference held at ACP Karachi Regarding the “Pakistan Theatre Festival 2023”.  Well-known director and actors Munawar Saeed and Sajid Hassan are also present in on this occasion.

President ACP Muhammad Ahmad Shah said that the Arts Council of Pakistan has provided a platform where theater groups and artists from Pakistan and around the world will participate. This will be the biggest theater festival in Pakistan, we have theatre groups coming from seven countries. The Festival will be in Urdu, English, Sindhi, Punjabi and Persian languages.

He said that the media has a strong role in showing the positive face of the Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi worldwide, thanks to the media for promoting such a big brand as the Aalmi Urdu Conference, Pakistan Literature Festival, and Youth Festival. He said theater festivals held across Sindh including Karachi, now internationally. Pakistani artists will be named on the surface. He said that we are introducing a new brand in the name of “Pakistan Theater Festival”, an artist came to us from America, she went back and told the people about the positive image of Pakistan.

Seasoned Actor Munawar Saeed said that the Pakistan Theater Festival was a great success for Ahmed Shah and Sajid Hasan.

Actor Sajid Hasan said that Ahmed Shah’s journey is a history, we are not worried on his part that the work is going well.

ACP celebrates 76th Independence Day with full enthusiasm

KARACHI:  Azadi Festival was organized on the occasion of the 76th Independence Day by the Arts Council of Pakistan(ACP) Karachi from August 13 to 14.

Musical concert, fireworks, flag hoisting and cutting of Azadi cake were held in the two-day festival. Commissioner Karachi Muhammad Iqbal Memon.

President Arts Council Muhammad Ahmad Shah, Secretary Arts Council Ijaz Farooqui and other governing body members also participated.

The second day of the festival started with drumming and musical performance, Citizens were rushed to the stall of face paintings while the enthusiasm of children, old and young people holding the green flag could be seen.

Speaking at the Azadi Festival, President Arts Council Mohammad Ahmad Shah said that the enemies of Pakistan think that the youth of Pakistan are don’t love Pakistan, their love for their flag, their love for Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah has diminished, we have to throw out the enemies in the ranks, He said that for the sake of the country we have to be united under the flag of Pakistan. The Arts Council has always tried to bring happiness to the faces of the citizens of Karachi.

ACP and PEBS organize free medical camp

KARACHI: Arts Council of Pakistan (ACP) Karachi in collaboration with the Pakistan Eye Bank Society(PEBS) organized a free medical camp at ACP Haseena Moin Hall.

The medical camp was inaugurated by President Arts Council Muhammad Ahmad Shah and Chairman Medical Committee ACP Dr. Qaiser Sajjad.

President ACP Muhammad Ahmad Shah while expressing his views said that Arts Council is a cultural institution of all Pakistan but there is no such cultural institution in Pakistan that also has a medical committee. As far as art and culture are concerned, human rights are our first responsibility, and education and health are our basic needs, he said that the government cannot provide health facilities, in such cases welfare organizations come forward, and many of our artists have health cards, arts council members will also have health cards, we are also in touch with the government in this regard.

Chairman Medical Committee ACP Dr. Qaiser Sajjad said that Ahmed Shah established a medical committee in the Arts Council 15 years ago. “I am thankful to Ahmed Shah who organized this camp today.”

LAHORE: Anti-corruption Pakistan(ACP) reopened dropped inquiries against former chief minister Punjab and senior PTI leader Usman Buzdar.

According to the details, Anti-Corruption re-opened the files of dropped inquiries against Sardar Usman Buzdar.

Anti-Corruption also recommended to drop the case of Shireen Mazari, but the court did not agree with the anti-corruption investigation team.

Anti-corruption has accelerated the process of investigation against Shireen Mazari.

The inquiries against Usman Buzdar for receiving bribes from the frontman in development works contracts were dropped during the previous regime.

The inquiry against Usman Buzdar for taking huge bribes from officers in the appointment and transfer of Deputy Commissioners and DPOs was also dropped.
