Saudia Airline to provide free 4-day visa for tourists and pilgrims

Cairo: Saudi Arabia‘s national carrier, Saudia, has announced the impending debut of a tourist visa for entering the kingdom when purchasing an airline ticket as part of the country’s attempts to promote tourism.

According to Okaz newspaper, Abdullah Al Shahrani, spokesman for the airline, the new service would be launched within the “next few days,” offering free issuance of a four-day visa on purchasing a ticket to enter the kingdom for tourism and conducting the Islamic minor pilgrimage or Umrah.

In keeping with Saudi Vision 2030, an ambitious development plan targeted, among other things, to lure more tourists to the nation, he emphasized the activation of the carrier’s digital infrastructure to enable Saudia travelers to receive tourist visas when purchasing their tickets.

“The visa will allow arrivals in the country to move in the country, attend occasions, meetings and ceremonies as well as undertake Umrah rites,” Al Shahrani said.

“Saudi Arabia Airlines has worked in this regard with several sectors, namely the ministries of foreign affairs, the interior, as well as Hajj and Umrah and the Pilgrims’ Service Programme,” he added.

Meanwhile, Saudia intends to increase foreign flights by 40% and add 500,000 seats to local flights, according to the official.

He also told Asharq TV that the carrier will receive ten new planes in 2023 to keep up with development.

In recent years, Saudi Arabia has pushed to entice foreign tourists to the kingdom, offering a range of amenities including the issuing of tourist visas on arrival or online for citizens of various nationalities.

India: Telangana official fakes death for insurance money, arrested

A Telangana government employee has been detained for reportedly faking his death by murdering his driver in order to collect insurance money.

A week after the body of Dharma, an Assistant Section Officer in the Telangana State Secretariat was discovered in a charred automobile in Medak district, the case took a dramatic turn when police discovered him alive.

Dharma was allegedly apprehended in Goa and was transported to Hyderabad.

On January 9, a car and a man’s burned body were discovered in a canyon outside Venkatapur hamlet in the district. Near the automobile, a bag and a container half-filled with gasoline were discovered.

The police had identified the dead as Dharma, 48, based on the license plate number of the automobile and identity card discovered in the luggage.

Police believed that the lack of guardrail on the embankment may have caused the car to fall into the gorge. Police opened a case of suspicious death and began an extensive investigation.

The inquiry into the case took a drastic turn when police attempted to track Dharma’s cell phone. The cops followed the object to Goa using mobile phone signals. Rushing to Goa, a police team discovered Dharma still alive. After being arrested, he was brought to Telangana.

To obtain insurance money, Dharma allegedly killed a car driver and then faked his demise. Due to his gambling, he had accrued debt, so he had the bright idea to use insurance proceeds to pay it off. His relatives had conspired with him.

Using her mother Sunita Kapoor as an example, who has always avoided the spotlight as an example, Sonam further solidifies her statement: “My mother has asked them repeatedly to never take her photo, and when she asks them not to do it, her photos are not taken. So I know the Indian media will not cover him till I don’t allow it.”

Sonam acknowledges that becoming a mother has made her more responsible when speaking about the child. “You develop greater responsibility as a person” (post motherhood). You only devote your attention to essential causes and areas that are in need of it. In a sense, someone else owns your time. I dedicate most of my time to my son and husband. I enjoy what I do, therefore that will also be a top priority. Your timing has now changed. Frivolous things aren’t as significant as you formerly believed, she says. If you ask her to mention one of her list of frivolous activities, she immediately responds, “Scrolling on Instagram” (laughs).

As she mentions work, she also confesses she doesn’t “know what’s going on” in the industry. With the barrage of negativity that the Hindi film industry is facing, Sonam, 37, feels “it’s important to support each other”. “Every industry works like that. You also need to respect your competition. There’s space for everybody. And remember, social media isn’t real,” she signs off.

France: Trains, flights cancelled in strike against pension reform

France has a decades-long history of attempts to reform its pension system

That worked in 1995 when millions came to the streets in the most disruptive social protests in the country since May 1968. Despite the protests, various further pension modifications have been implemented since.

SYDNEY: On Wednesday, emergency services rushed out to the Sydney airport to receive an arriving Qantas airline that had engine issues and issued a mid-air mayday notice before landing successfully.

According to a Qantas statement, the flight, designated QF144, was departing from Auckland, New Zealand, with 145 passengers.

According to a reporter on the scene, the Boeing 737-800 airliner landed safely on the runway at Sydney Airport and will now be examined by engineers.

Before the plane landed, the mayday warning was changed to a PAN, or “possible assistance needed,” according to Qantas. Although the airline did not specify the issue, it did state that two hours after takeoff, one of the aircraft’s engines “had a difficulty.”

The statement read, “While in-flight engine shutdowns are rare and would naturally be concerning for our passengers, our pilots are trained to manage them safely and aircraft are designed to fly for an extended period of time on one engine.

A PAN signifies a scenario that “needs attention from air traffic control,” according to Airservices Australia, the government’s aviation regulator.

Since its founding more than 70 years ago, Qantas has maintained a reputation as one of the world’s safest airlines. John Abraham reportedly declined to strike Shah Rukh Khan during the Pathaan filming. Earlier, there were rumours that the co-stars’ relationship was not going well.
In their upcoming action movie, Pathaan, actors Shah Rukh Khan and John Abraham will be seen at odds with one another. Shah Rukh recently talked about working with John when there were rumours about their actual fight. He discussed how John stood his ground during the filming and referred to him as a “national treasure.”

Shah Rukh plays the soldier Pathaan in Siddharth Anand’s film Pathaan. Pathaan ends his “hiatus” after he receives a call to fight for a terrorist group led by John Abraham. Shah Rukh is joined by Deepika Padukone on his journey.

Speaking of the movie, Shah Rukh discussed his thoughts on John playing a negative part in a conversation session that was posted on the Yash Raj Film YouTube channel. He recounted how they had become friends and had known John ever since he moved to Mumbai. Shah Rukh called John “shy, very quiet, and repulsive,” yet he was eager to watch him in Pathaan.

 

“I met him many times when he was doing a film or we wanting to do a film together and this happened per chance. I was very keen he does it and he was kind enough to do a role where he is really a bad guy. He is a top star. He has his own franchises happening and he has got these really cool action films happening and to decide to take on a film where he is a bad guy, you know, so takes a lot of guts,” he added. Shah Rukh also shared while most actors refuse to play antagonists in films, John is different. “Takes a lot of confidence in your own self, especially when I see in the Hindi film scenario. Heroes don’t play bad guys. I’d love to play a bad guy. I gained deep respect for him.”

 

It was nice working with him and all so I realised he is a gentle giant. You know when we were doing action and everything. He says…he called me a national treasure and said, ‘I will not hurt you.’ I said you can, it’s ok. He is very shy and I had to do a lot of convincing to tell him it’s ok, you can punch me and I won’t get hurt. I think he is so proficient in action. He really helped me look nice you know, in body language. It was very kind of him. I think when you are doing a film with a co-star like John, there is a lot to learn from him. Being the star that he is and the respect that he has for me,” said the superstar. He signed off with these words: “I hope when Pathaan comes out, one of the most liked characters, genuinely is John’s. I really wish it because it takes a lot of guts to do what he has done as an actor and as a star,” Shah Rukh shared his work experience with John in their first film together.

 

Prior reports stated that John and Shah Rukh’s relationship was not going well. According to rumours, John was unhappy with the way Pathaan turned out, which might have affected his relationship with Shah Rukh. John’s attendance at an event where he sidestepped a query about Shah Rukh Khan’s body in Pathaan fueled the rumours. John afterwards wrote a note about Pathaan.

The movie Pathaan will debut on January 25.
