How to get Twitter’s blue check mark? Find Out!

Twitter Blue Check Mark

After a years-long hold on public submissions for the site’s blue checkmarks, Twitter users may again request to be verified again, however the firm claimed only “notable” individuals will be awarded the badge.

In 2017, the social media business halted public submissions for these badges due to criticism that their verification mechanism was arbitrary and unclear. It stated at the time that the checkmark was being misinterpreted as “an endorsement or a signal of importance.”

Accounts must have been active in the past six months and satisfy one of the numerous categories, including government, business, brands, and organizations, news outlets and journalists, entertainment, sports, and gaming, activists, organizers, and other prominent persons, according to the new guidelines.

Later this year, it also plans to add categories for scientists, professors, and religious leaders.

The accounts must also have a record of following Twitter’s rules – specifically, no violations that resulted in a 12-hour or one-week lockouts in the previous year.

Twitter also stated that throughout the approval process, it would look at user behavior holistically, such as harassment or sharing content that advocated the superiority of a certain group, “both on and off Twitter.”

Accounts must also have features such as a profile photo and be able to establish their identity using government ID or email addresses.

Twitter said it was aiming to give more information on a variety of account types, including a new account type of lawful automated or “bot” accounts in July and memorial accounts for departed users later this year. It said it was also exploring how to label humor and satire accounts.

Twitter also intends to allow users to add more personal information to their accounts, which have mostly remained unchanged since 2014. The new area will begin by showing gender pronouns and will eventually include information such as interests.

Twitter stated that verification applications will be accessible beginning Thursday and will be rolled out over the coming two weeks. It stated that the choices will be handled by people and that users would receive a response within four weeks. If their application is denied, they can reapply every 30 days.

Twitter has continued to authenticate certain accounts throughout the interruption, such as medical specialists posting about COVID-19.

About 360,000 accounts, out of Twitter’s 199 million monetizable daily active users, are verified.

BTS: How Suga Deals With His International Fans?

BTS Suga

BTS Suga recently sat down for an interview and was frank about his strategies for breaking down the language barrier between him and his international followers.

Suga admitted, “When I was growing up, of course, I listened to American hip-hop and pop, and my English is not very good. So I read the lyrics and the translations of the lyrics.”

Suga highlighted how the degree of wordplay used in all songs can sometimes be difficult to translate and understand by foreign speakers and learners.

“Obviously, what native speakers of English may consider the key lines, the key verses, the punchlines, I really couldn’t understand them because of the intricacies of the language. And, I think, that’s an unavoidable part of the language barrier.”

“I think, it’s important to try to find a happy medium where people from both languages and cultures or other languages understand it. So we try to write lyrics sort of in the happy middle, that can be understood by people speaking other languages.”

He concluded by saying,

“And also, I’m studying English more and more, trying to get more familiar with it. So if we can get both Korean speakers and English speakers to understand the lyrics, that would be great. But again, that’s something I experience as well.”

UNGA Session: Death echoes in every home in Gaza, says FM Qureshi

Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi while addressing the 67th plenary meeting of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA)  in New York has highlighted Israeli atrocities against Palestinians.

FM Qureshi began his address by saying, “There are times in history when decisions of nations are remembered by posterity. This is one such moment.”

“What we do today or cannot do will be recorded in history. Driven by arrogance and emboldened by impunity, Israel has mounted a relentless onslaught on the occupied and beleaguered people of Palestine,” he said.

He said that one week of Israeli attacks have martyred more than 250 Palestinians and thousands injured, out of which one-third are women and children.

“Death echoes in every home in Gaza,” Qureshi said, To highlight the situation in Gaza. FM Qureshi recalled one such tragedy, in which all ten members of the Abu Hattab family had died in Israeli strikes.

“Hundreds of such tragedies are being enacted every hour in Gaza and other parts of the Palestinian territories. So far over 50,000 Palestinians have fled their homes in Gaza,” he said.

FM Qureshi went on to say that these people have very poor and insufficient access to water, food, hygiene and health services.

The foreign minister said hospitals and sanitation services depend on electricity but fuel for power plants “has almost run out”.

FM Qureshi said such is the reality of Palestine, where “in full view of the world Israeli airstrikes bring down entire buildings to kill and terrorize innocent Palestinians and even silence the media”.

“Gaza has plunged in darkness […] the only light is that of Israeli explosions,” FM Qureshi said.

“It is time to say enough. The voice of the Palestinian people cannot and will not be silenced,” he said.

The foreign minister said the representatives of the Islamic world are there to speak with and for Palestine.

He said it is “appalling” that the United Nations Security Council has been unable to do what it is tasked with — to maintain international peace and security.

He said that it has even failed to demand a suspension of hostilities and warned those who are obstructing it from doing so that they will suffer the consequences.

“We must not fail the Palestinian people at this critical juncture.”

Talking about the Israel-Palestine conflict, the UN General Secretary said that the conflict cannot be ignored.

“Hamas and the rest of Israel must stop firing rockets at civilians in Israel”, said UN General Secretary.
