Moreover, Naeem Abbas Rufi emerged as a Pakistani singer in the early 1990s both on Pakistani television and in the Pakistani film industry.

Open balloting will ensure transparency in Senate Elections: FM Qureshi

In order to ensure transparency and end horse-trading, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi on Saturday said that the government wants that the upcoming Senate polls should be held through open ballot instead of the secret ballot.

Speaking to media officials, FM Qureshi said that they wanted that horse-trading, corrupt practices, trade of loyalty amid Senate elections should be ended.

There was a clear contradiction between the words and deeds of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), he added.

The foreign minister said that PML-N and PPP had sighed the charter of democracy but now both the parties have backtracked from the contract.

Earlier in a day, President Dr Arif Alvi has signed the Elections (Amendment) Ordinance 2021 for Senate elections to be held via an “open and identifiable ballot”.

The Ordinance will be effective with immediate effect subject to the interpretation of the Supreme Court on Presidential reference already sub-judice in the apex court.

The amendment has been introduced in section 33, 86 and 122 of the Election Act 2017.

President Alvi signs ordinance for Senate elections to be held on open ballot

President Dr Arif Alvi has on Saturday signed the Elections (Amendment) Ordinance 2021 for Senate elections to be held via an “open and identifiable ballot”.

The Ordinance will be effective with immediate effect subject to the interpretation of the Supreme Court on Presidential reference already sub-judice in the apex court.

The amendment has been introduced in section 33, 86 and 122 of the Election Act 2017.

Under the new ordinance, the election for Senate will be held on the open ballot.

“Provided that in case the Supreme Court of Pakistan gives an opinion in Reference No. 1 of 2021 filed under Article 186 of the Constitution, that elections for the members of the Senate do not fall within the purview of Article 226 of the Constitution, the poll for elections for members of the Senate to be held in March 2021 and thereafter shall be conducted by the Commission through the open and identifiable ballot,” reads the Ordinance.

According to Section 226 of the Constitution: “All elections under the Constitution, other than those of the Prime Minister and the Chief Minister, shall be by secret ballot”.

Furthermore, the Ordinance states that after the Senate polls, if the head of a political party wishes to see the ballot cast by any member of his party, the Election Commission of Pakistan shall show them the same.

PN releases promo for upcoming Multinational Maritime Exercise – AMAN

Pakistan Navy (PN) has released a new promo in connection with the multinational drill “AMAN”, which plays a pivotal role in strengthening maritime cooperation, promoting secured maritime environment and for regional and global maritime peace and stability.

According to the Spokesperson, PN has been arranging the naval exercise “AMAN” since 2007 in which Naval forces from around the world participate.

This year, over 40 countries along with their assets will participate in the Multinational Maritime Exercise “Aman” being held under the objective of ‘Together for Peace’.

The exercise is aimed at enhancing joint operational capabilities and professional skills for regional peace and stability.

Earlier in 2019, the five-day multi-nation naval exercise Aman-2019 had been participated by 46 nations. The exercise had displayed a resolve of 46 countries under the title “Together for Peace”.

AMAN-19 had been conducted in two phases; the harbour phase spanned from February 8 to 10 – 2019 and the sea phase from February 11 to 12.

However, Pakistan has been hosting the multi-national naval drill ‘Aman’ since 2007. In the first exercise, 28 countries had participated with their ships, aircraft and observers.

The objectives of the naval exercise include projecting a positive image of Pakistan as a country.

It will help to contribute to regional peace and stability.

The premier had given good news to the nation about housing project which PTI government has started and said that at first, 300,000 subsidies will be given by the government for 100,000 houses.

Ali Sadpara missing: President Alvi hopes for the climbers’ safe return

Pakistan’s climbing hero, Ali Sadpara, John Snorri from Iceland and Juan Pablo Mohr from Chile are missing since 5 hours on K2, the world’s second-highest mountain.

According to the details, contact with the 3-member expedition has not been established for the last 25 hours. Ali Sadpara, including the two mountaineers, went missing while returning to the basecamp 4, while Sajjid Sadpara reached basecamp 3 last night.

President Arif Alvi has on Saturday prayed for their safe return in a tweet. “I hope Ali Sadpara and his co-climbers are alive and fine. These are very brave mountaineers. We pray for their safety. Good information in your thread,” he wrote.

“It’s already been more than 30 hours, we (at basecamp) have received no news of John Snorri, Ali Sadpara, and Juan Pablo Mohr, since none of the GPS trackers seem to be working”, Chhang Dawa Sherpa, their expedition manager, said in a statement.

An army helicopter has conducted a search flight for the missing climbers, the statement added.

Moreover, Waqas Johar, Assistant Commissioner Shigar, Gilgit-Baltistan, confirmed that there has been no success in finding the missing mountaineers so far and that weather conditions are “not good” at K2.

According to the details, PEMRA officials have threatened the cable operators to put BOL News on the last number.

However, in this regard, Labbaik Pvt. Ltd, BOL News has submitted a complaint to register an FIR against Chairman PEMRA Saleem Baig and others to the SHO of Zaman Town.

Contempt of court petition against PEMRA Chairman Saleem Baig and others has also been filed by the news channel.

Chairman PEMRA Saleem Baig, DG Distribution, Regional Manager Akram Barkar, Inspector Lahore Mohammad Akram, Inspector PEMRA Lahore Mazhar have been made respondents in the petition.

On the other hand, speaking to BOL News’ talk show, Abb Baat Hogi, the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Qamar Zaman Kaira has strongly condemned the illegal act by PEMRA.

Kaira has also urged the government to place competent persons for the posts as Saleem Baig has. He also added that the government must ensure the media’s freedom of action and policies.

The PPP leader further slammed Chairman PEMRA for mocking the rule of law by illegally directing the cable operators to stop transmission of BOL News.

Moreover, Saleem Baig used his subordinate officers illegally against BOL News to cause irreparable loss to the channel’s broadcasts.

BOL News News submitted a petition to SHO Zaman Town to register a case against PEMRA Chairman Saleem Baig and others.

Bilal Saeed Viral Video: Woman accuses the singer of fraud, theft of Rs80 mn

Following the physically attacking viral video of singer Bilal Saeed, more accusations of fraud and theft have been levelled against the ‘Baari’ singer.

According to the accusations, the mother of an allegedly attacked woman came forth and revealed, “Bilal was a friend of my son and all his fame can be credited to my son,” she said.

“He has tried to rob us before and also engaged in fraud various times under the guise of friendship,” she revealed.

She went on to add, “He and his brother were also involved in the theft of about Rs. 80.5 million from me. They even have bails cancelled from the high court.”

The woman further shared that Bilal has been demanding money from her daughter and when she refused, he allegedly resorted to personal threats. Raza and his wife then went to his wife with police in tow, and that’s when the incident took place.

She also shared that she is planning to file an FIR against Saeed and that previously, he has used emotional tactics to reel her out from filing one. “He engaged in the same behaviour about 3-4 months back,” she relayed.

There has already been an FIR filed against Saeed for the Rs 80.5 million theft, and he was allegedly granted bail from the high court in the case.

Earlier, the viral video of Bilal Saeed had shown him assaulting a couple outside his home. He can be seen kicking the girl multiple times in the presence of police officials. Sources claim that the couple is his own brother and sister-in-law.

He had also posted a picture with his son along with the message.

“In shaa Allah! We will be able to complete our expedition by 9:00 am on Monday and will hoist the Pakistani flag on the peak of K2,” he said in a message on Twitter.

He had further asked the nation to remember them in their prayers.

Three blasts in Kabul claim lives of 2 civilians, 1 police official

Three blasts were reported in Afghanistan killing three people, including two civilians and police officials here on Saturday morning.

According to the details, three people died in three separate explosions in Kabul within two hours.

The first blast took place at a shop in Bagh-e-Qazi in Kabul’s PD1 district, police said. However, the type of blast is unknown so far.

People and security forces were busy helping the wounded when a second blast happened in which two civilians, including one Afghan Hindu, were killed and five more, including two Afghan Hindus, were wounded, police said.

The third blast targeted a police vehicle in Hese Awal north of Kabul.

Earlier, an alleged bomb blast at a religious gathering in Afghanistan’s Ghazni District had killed 15 people, including 11 children, and injured 20 others.

Ghazni governor’s spokesman Wahidullah Jumazada said most of those killed in the blast were under 18.

Afghan government officials, social activists and journalists had blamed the Taliban for such bombings.

Small-scale bombings had killed at least 10 government officials in recent weeks, most of them in the capital, Kabul.
