The world got shocked after the news of Saudi billionaire businesswoman Sahoo Bint Abdullah Al-Mahboub, whose wealth is valued at 8 billion$ got married to her Pakistani driver spread like a fire on social media.

Following Sahoo’s footsteps, 4 other Saudi women married their driver and changed his luck in just a few minutes.

According to the details, four Saudi women teaching in a remote village school married their driver so they can live closer to work and avoid the daily hectic commute.

As per the sources, the Saudi women fell in love with the man’s ‘good morals’ and decided to marry him and live together in the village where they teach.

Punjab government shuts down free WiFi project

The government which claims to advance in technology has started blocking the way for it as the Buzdar government abolished free internet facility in Punjab.

The provincial government shuts down the Punjab WiFi project due to heavy annual subsidies.

Thousands of students, research scholars, journalists and citizens of educational institutions across the province are now deprived of free WiFi. Resources

It is pertinent to mention here that in the previous period, Punjab WiFi project was launched to provide free Punjab Wi-Fi facility at 200 places in the province.

According to the details provided by the sources, the project was costing Rs. 19.5 million annually.

Under the project, free Wi-Fi was provided to Punjab’s large libraries, colleges, educational institutions and other important government places, including parks and press clubs.

Earlier, Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Bazdar had contracted the coronavirus after which he has isolated himself.

Azhar Mashwani, the chief minister’s focal person for digital media, tweeted on the social networking site, “Usman Buzdar has tested positive for COVID-19.

He had mild symptoms (Fever and Flu) since last night and in self-isolation as per the advice of Doctors. Request for prayers for early recovery.”

BCCI President Sourav Ganguly suffers mild cardiac arrest

On Saturday, the current BCCI President and former Indian cricketer Sourav Ganguly suffered mild cardiac arrest and was admitted to a private hospital.

According to the details, Ganguly was admitted to a private hospital in Calcutta after he felt pain in his chest while working out in the morning.

An Indian news outlet said that BCCI President felt dizzy while his morning workout and added that the former Indian cricketer will be discharged after an angioplasty.

PSX Weekly report: KSE 100 Index gains 1018 points

During the last business week, the KSE 100 Index gained 1,018 points. According to the details, the 100 Index rose 2.3 per cent to close at 44434.

During the week, Rs113 billion worth of share were traded and 2.64 billion shares were traded.

Earlier, the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) witnessed bullish trend on the first day of the new year, the 100 indexes reached a two-and-a-half-year high.

As soon as the market opened in the morning on the trading board, it continued to rise till the end of the market.

PPSC cancels exams for posts of tehsildar

On Saturday, the Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC) has cancelled the exam at the last minute for the posts of tehsildar. This sparked anger in the candidates as they staged protests outside exam centres.

According to the details, PPSC posted the notice just 30 minutes before the start of the exam. The commission said the exam was cancelled due to “unavoidable circumstances”.

Candidates across the country came to give the exam despite the cold weather protested outside the centres and alleged that the exams for tehsildar were cancelled after a paper was leaked.

It is pertinent to mention here that almost 104,000 people had applied for the 58 posts of tehsildar and assistant collector.

Strict action to be taken against anyone speaking against Pak Army

While speaking to the media on Saturday in Rawalpindi, the Interior Minister of Pakistan Sheikh Rasheed said that strict action will be taken within 72 hours against anyone using foul language against the Pak Army or other state institutions.

He also said that an online visa facility has been provided for 192 countries and added that 1.5 million Afghan refugees are allowed to live in Pakistan. He said two hundred thousand illegal cards have been blocked.

He added that two hundred thousand applications were received in a day for online visas.

Moreover, Rasheed also informed the media that 300 mobile vans of NADRA will visit areas across Pakistan to facilitate the masses.

“Eagle Squad, equipped with the latest technology, will soon be introduced for the security of Islamabad.”

Furthermore, he said that the passport of Nawaz Sharif is expiring on the 16th of next month and it will not be extended.

Above all, he warned that strict action will be taken against the people using derogatory remarks against the state institutions.

According to the details over 1.4 billion WhatsApp calls were made globally on New Year’s eve.

“More than 1.4 billion voice and video calls were made on New Year’s Eve 2020 globally, the most ever calls in a single day on WhatsApp,” said Facebook which owns WhatsApp.

Moreover, WhatsApp saw more than 50% of increases compared to 2019’s New Year’s even.

Not only WhatsApp, but Facebook Messenger also saw an increase on the same day.

“New Year’s Eve 2020 was the biggest day ever for Messenger group video calls (3+ people) in the US, with nearly 2X more group video calls on NYE compared to the average day,” said Facebook.

While people on Instagram Live and Facebook Live saw over 55 million live broadcasts globally on New Year’s Eve.

The social media giant said that the increase in the use of the technology was more likely due to the coronavirus pandemic.

“In 2020, people turned to technology to stay in touch and get things done in the face of social distancing and stay-at-home mandates, and video calling became arguably the most in-demand feature,” said Facebook.

The social media giant said that on the last day of 2020, hey saw new records being set as it turned out to be the “historically busy night” for their services.

COVID-19 In Pakistan: 82 more people succumb to deadly virus

According to the statistics of the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) released on Saturday, the pandemic has claimed 82 more lives and infected 2,184 more people during the past 24 hours.

The death toll reached to 10,258, whereas, 1,745 patients have defeated coronavirus in a single day. However, 2,264 people are in critical condition.

The total active cases in Pakistan is 35,130.

The national tally of cases according to the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC), in the country currently stands at 484,362.

The details further revealed that 2,745 people admitted across the country to 625 hospitals. Meanwhile, 301 corona patients are on ventilators fighting for their life.

During this period, a total of 38,229 tests were conducted across Pakistan. Overall 438,974 people have recovered from the deadly disease so far.

On the hand, the Sindh Government decided to set up the Corona Vaccine Center at Expo Center Karachi.

In this regard, Provincial Health Minister Dr. Azra Pechuho visited the Expo Center and reviewed the arrangements. On this occasion, Dr. Azra Pechuho said that the cold chain and other arrangements will be finalized soon.

Meanwhile, Punjab Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid expressed the hope that coronavirus vaccine may reach Pakistan by February this year.

She was addressing the oath-taking ceremony of new office-bearers of Pakistan Medical Association organized at the Cosmopolitan Club in Lahore. Dr Yasmin Rashid said the government has reserved Rs 14 billion to fight the pandemic.

Model Farwa Kazmi shares painful experience of her miscarriage

Pakistani model Farwa Kazmi, who was tested positive for COVID-19 in October 2020, shared her miscarriage experience on her social media handle.

Taking to her official Instagram account, the model wrote,

“While everyone looks back at this year and shares good memories, I am sharing my story that doesn’t have a happy ending,” wrote the model. “I went through something called a ‘missed miscarriage’.”

“People seldom talk about miscarriage because a lot of guilt, shame and pain is attached to it,” she said. “I feel we need to speak more about the uncomfortable and difficult topics because not talking about it makes it feel worse. Losing a child is monumental and should be mourned for as long as one wants. It’s not the mother’s fault nor in her control.”

The model further wrote,

“I was scrolling through my notes today and came across a love letter that I had written for my baby that was never born and I couldn’t even look at it. It brought back all the painful memories from the day I ended up in labour room.”

Kazmi added that she “does not want to go into details of it but it’s unimaginable pain and loss for someone who hasn’t gone through it.”

“What it feels like, to think at one moment that you’ll be bringing a baby home in seven months and the next second you know that you won’t because your embryo doesn’t have a heartbeat. It’s doesn’t end here. The process of terminating a pregnancy is like the worst nightmare,” she said. “It’s like so much pain without any gain. I’m still dealing with complications after the miscarriage.”

She concluded by praying that the new year “2021” turns out to be kinder, happier and propserous for all of us.
