Cricket Committee Recommends Misbah-ul-Haq, Waqar Younis’s Retention

The Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) Cricket Committee has expressed its dissatisfaction over the national team’s performance against New Zealand, however, it recommended the retention of head coach Misbah-ul-Haq and bowling coach Waqar Younis.

According to the details, the coaches were bashed miserably after Pakistan showed its poor performance against the black caps, Shaheens only won one out of three T20Is, and lost all matches of the Test series.

Today (12th January) the cricket committee discussed Misbah and Waqar’s jobs, however, PCB said in a statement after the meeting that Saleem Yousuf, who headed the meeting “expressed its dissatisfaction on the side’s performances” but “acknowledged the fact that the team had competed in the unprecedented and challenging COVID-19 circumstances”.

Pak Vs NZ: Babar Azam will miss second Test match against Kiwis

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) confirmed on Saturday that the national team’s captain Babar Azam has been ruled out of the second Test against New Zealand, which will start from Sunday at the Hagley Oval.

According to the details, Mohammad Rizwan will take the lead in Azam’s absence.

“Babar had a full-fledged training session yesterday but felt a slight pain in his thumb, following which, the team management has opted against taking any risk,” read the PCB statement.

President Alvi and others laud Hafeez’s performance in 2nd T20 against NZ

Pakistan played the second of three-match T20 against New Zealand today (Sunday) and was defeated by the black caps by nine wickets, however, Mohammad Hafeez’s outstanding performance in the stadium won everyone’s heart.

Mohammad Hafeez was unbeatable at 99 runs, on the last ball to hand, the Pakistani cricketer kept Pakistan’s hopes high as he scored a six.

To appreciate his efforts, Pakistanis including President Alvi, Asad Umar, Fahad Mustafa, and many more lauded the right-handed batsman.

According to the details, Hafeez also trends number 2 on the micro-blogging site Twitter.

Taking to Twitter, President Dr. Arif Alvi appreciated Hafeez’s batting and praised green shirts for their efforts.

Pakistan Minister of Finance Asad Umar also uplifted Hafeez’s spirit but highlighted the issues of others batting.

The Advisor to Chief Minister Sindh on Law & Environment Murtaza Wahab wrote,

Pakistani actor Fahad Mustafa also loved Hafeez’s performance against New Zealand and called him the real “professor”.

New Zealand defeated Pakistan by 5 wickets in the first T20 match after a thrilling match.

According to the details, Pakistan decided to bat first after winning the toss which did not prove to be correct and only 4 players of the national team returned to the pavilion with a total score of 20.

Mohammad Rizwan 17, Haider Ali 3 while Abdullah Shafiq and Mohammad Hafeez were out without scoring a run. Khushdal Shah also lost his wicket by scoring 16 runs on the total score of 39.

However, captain Shadab Khan (42), Faheem Ashraf (31), and Emad Wasim (19) gave some support to the batting line and in the allotted 20 overs the score reached 153 for the loss of 9 wickets.

Shaheen Shah Afridi remained unbeaten on 10 while Wahab Riaz scored 9.

Jacob Duffy, who made his debut for New Zealand, took 4 wickets. Apart from them, Scott Caglin took 3 wickets while Ash Sodhi and Blair Tucker took one wicket each.

On Monday, a 22-member Pakistan cricket team squad including the support staff have left for the northern city of Whangarei in New Zealand ahead of the first T20 against the black caps scheduled on December 17.

Pakistan vs New Zealand: PCB announce 20-member squad for the ODIs

The New Zealand Cricket Council has announced its squad to play the three T20 series against Pakistan starting from Friday at Eden Park.

“The blazing bats of Glenn Phillips and Devon Conway are once again set to light up the BLACKCAPS T20 top-order,” said the press release. “The duo were involved in a T20I world-record, a third-wicket stand of 181 against the West Indies less than a fortnight ago and have been rewarded with selection in a T20 extended squad – which also features the return of Kane Williamson and Trent Boult.”

According to the details, Williamson and Boult along with Tim Southee, Kyle Jamieson, and Daryl Mitchell will only be available for the December 20 game in Hamilton and December 22 match in Napier.

Moreover, due to a bone stress injury of the lumbar spine, Lockie Ferguson will not be able to be a part of the squad. Hamish Bannett has also been ruled out of the series with an abdominal tear.

Here is how Pakistani cricketers enjoying time in NZ after quarantine

After 14 days of quarantine, the Pakistan cricket squad was allowed on Tuesday to step out from their hotel rooms to enjoy time with team members.

According to the details, since the 53-member squad was in managed isolation, confined to their rooms for the last two weeks. Shaheens were allowed to train initially during isolation, however, after 10 players of the squad tested positive for coronavirus, they were revoked by the NZ health authorities.

Now, as the quarantine has ended, green shirts have ditched hotels to enjoy the beautiful outdoors in New Zealand.

Players like Imad Wasim, Azhar Ali, and Imam ul Haq, took to their Instagram handles and shared breathtaking photos of mountains and the glistening sea.
