Sindh to launch crackdown against drug dealers from Nov 13

KARACHI: The Sindh Government has decided to launch a major crackdown against drug dealers across the province.

The Excise and Narcotics Control Wing will officially begin this operation against drug dealers across Sindh from November 13.

In the first phase, the operation will target two major cities, Karachi and Hyderabad. Subsequent phases will extend the operation to other districts of Sindh.

The Senior Minister of Sindh and Provincial Minister for  Narcotics Control, Sharjeel Inam Memon, has issued orders for an intensive operation against drug dealers, commencing tomorrow.

In connection with this operation, the Excise and Narcotics Control Wing has been mobilized from across Sindh.

In the meeting, Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon issued orders for an operation against drug dealers starting tomorrow.

He directed that a phased operation should begin across Sindh, with the first phase focusing on eliminating drug peddlers in Karachi and Hyderabad.

He stated that by expanding the scope of the anti-drug operation, it will soon be launched in other districts as well. Our targets are crystal meth, ice, heroin, cocaine, and hashish, which must be eradicated at all costs.

The police and Rangers are also prepared to cooperate with the Excise and Narcotics Control teams at all times.

He stated that with the introduction of the new anti-narcotics law, the responsibilities of the Excise and Narcotics Control have increased, we all have a role to play in protecting our future generations from the scourge of drugs and in ensuring a drug-free society.

Sindh introduces system to provide number plates at doorstep

KARACHI: The Sindh government has decided to introduce the system of providing number plates to the people at home.

In the meeting presided over by Senior Minister of Sindh Sharjeel Inam Memon, it was decided to introduce the system of providing number plates to the people at home, while it was decided to establish a motor registration office in the district south and to work in the evening hours as well.

In the meeting, it was also decided to establish a special office for the issuance of premium number plates by the Excise Department.

Provincial Minister Sharjeel Memon said that the first phase of the issue of premium number plates was successful and was well received by the people. The second phase of auction of premium number plates will also be started soon.

Sharjeel Memon directed that steps be taken to further simplify the registration process, wanting to run the excise department in a corporate manner.

KARACHI: The Sindh Transport Department has decided to run a dedicated Pink People’s bus service for women in Karachi and other parts of the province.

In a meeting presided over by Provincial Transport Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon, a decision has been taken regarding Pink People’s Bus Service, which has been done keeping in mind to resolve travel problems of working women.

Sharjeel Inam Memon said that the Pink People’s Bus Service will be started on February 1, for which the first route has been chosen from Model Colony, Shahrah-e-Faisal to Tower route.

He has informed us that the pink bus service will run every 20 minutes in the morning and evening hours during office hours and after office hours pink bus service will run every one hour during normal hours.

He further said that after the orange, red and white bus service, the Sindh government is now going to start a dedicated pink bus service for women in Karachi.

The provincial minister said that the Pakistan People’s Party is moving fast toward the fulfillment of the promises made to the people of Karachi.

Apart from this, the meeting also reviewed the operations of the People’s Bus Service in Sukkur, Larkana, and Hyderabad and the launch of Route 4, 5, 6, and 7 in Karachi and issued instructions to start the People’s Bus Service in Sukkur on January 29.

HYDERABAD: Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon discharged from National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD), Hyderabad after improvement in his health.

The minister was brought to the National Institute of Cardio-Vascular Diseases (NICVD), Hyderabad after he suffered heart attack.

The doctors at NICVD mentioned that two of Sharjeel Inam Memon’s coronary arteries were blocked. The NICVD doctors performed angioplasty followed by angiography of PPP leader.

Two cardiac stents had been placed in Sharjeel Memon’s arteries to unblock them. The PPP leader was discharged from hospital after his condition was declared stable by hospital administration.

HYDERABAD: Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon was rushed to National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD) Hyderabad after he suffered cardiac arrest.

The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader was taken to the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases Hyderabad for medical examination after he complained of pain in his chest.

Doctors at NICVD revealed that Sharjeel Memon suffered cardiac arrest and later underwent angioplasty.

The minister was doing better after the medical procedure and will be discharged from the state-run medical facility as per physicians’ advice.

Angioplasty is a minimally invasive procedure used to widen narrowed or obstructed arteries or veins.

It should be noted that two cardiac stents have been placed in Sharjeel Memon’s arteries to unblock them.

As per the hospital administration, Sharjeel Memon’s condition is stable and he will be discharged after 24 hours.

Karachi: In order to control the rising prices of flour, the Sindh government has announced the provision of flour at Rs 95 per kg in the market.

Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon and Food Minister Mukesh Kumar Chawla, while addressing a press conference along with flour millers, said that the price of flour will be reduced from Rs 160 to Rs 95 per kg in the open market.

Sharjeel Memon said that poor and deserving people will be able to buy flour for 65 rupees per kg. He said the government is trying to make flour cheaper in the open market.

The provincial minister said that flour prices have gone up a lot, 460 trucks are supplying cheap flour in Karachi every day and 0.6 million bags of 10 kg are being given daily.

Provincial Minister said that the Sindh government is giving billions of rupees in subsidy for the provision of cheap flour, there is a flour crisis in the whole country. He said Sindh is the only province where flour is available at 65 rupees per kg.

Sharjeel Inam Memon further said that the Sindh government had demanded before the World Bank, the bank will give two billion dollars to the flood victims.

On the other hand, Mukesh Kumar Chawla while talking said that Sindh Chief Minister and PPP leadership took notice of the flour crisis, the party gave orders to find out the reasons why flour is becoming expensive. He said flour mill owners demanded that their quota should be increased and the provincial government has enhanced the quota of millers following the instructions of the Chief Minister.

He said that flour of 65 rupees per kg will be sold to the poor while from today flour will be available at 95 rupees per kg.

KARACHI: Sharjeel Inam Memon, Transport Minister of Sindh stated on Saturday that the Orange Line Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) Service had begun commercial operations.

Sharjeel Inam Memon, the provincial government’s spokesperson, stated that the initiative has been launched for the people of Karachi. “Every day, almost 24,000 people can use modern public transportation,” he asserted.

According to the provincial minister, the Orange Line BRT Service has been integrated with the Green Bus Service. “Both BRT Services have their own ticketing system,” said the Transport Minister.

The Orange Line corridor extends 3.88 kilometers from Orangi Town to the Board Office traffic intersection. It has five stations and a depot that can accommodate 30 buses.

In May, the Sindh government renamed the Orange Line BRT project after the late philanthropist Abdul Sattar Edhi as the Abdul Sattar Edhi Line.
