Man in Lahore suffers critical wounds after he fell from a building while shooting TikTok

A 20-year old man fell from the fourth floor of a building while shooting TikTok videos with his friends in Lahore early Thursday morning.

According to police, Malik Hamza, who hails from Gujranwala, was working in Lahore. He completed his night shift and then met his friends to shoot TikTok videos.

Qaiser Awan, one of his cousins, said that Hamza injured his neck, leg, and ribs during the fall. The doctors have declared his condition critical.

The police have seized his mobile phone and are investigating the case.

On Jule 21, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority issued a “final warning” to TikTok. The app has been asked to put in place a comprehensive mechanism to control “obscenity, vulgarity and immorality through its social media platform”.

LHC petition seeks ban on TikTok, says it is peddling vulgarity

A lawyer approached the Lahore High Court (LHC) on Tuesday seeking its directives for the authorities concerned to ban highly popular social media app TikTok in Pakistan.

Advocate Nadeem Sarwar states in his petition that the video-sharing app is disastrous for the younger generation as it is not only leading to wastage of time and money but also peddling vulgarity.

Besides, he submitted, acts of blackmailing and harassment are on the rise because of TikTok. If not banned, it would prove to be harmful to the country’s social fabric, he added.

Therefore, he pleaded with the high court issued directives for the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) to impose a permanent ban on the use of TikTok.

PUBG ban: PTA to take final decision today

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has concluded hearing whether ban on online game PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG) will be extended or removed.

The authority, earlier issued a hearing notice to all respondents. It had allowed them to join the meeting via video link because of the ongoing coronavirus situation.

Meanwhile, #PTALiftBanOnPUBG is trending on Twitter as social media users demand to lift PUBG ban from Pakistan.

A temporary ban was imposed on the battle royale game on July 1. The authority said it received ‘numerous complaints against PUBG wherein it is stated that the game is addictive, wastage of time and poses a serious negative impact on the physical and psychological health of children.’

Petitions were filed against the ban in the Sindh High Court (SHC) and the Islamabad High Court (IHC).
