Salaried class to get big relief in the upcoming budget: Fawad Chaudhry

Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry has on Tuesday (today) said that Kuwait has “immediately” resumed issuing visas for Pakistanis, after a decade-long hiatus.

In a series of tweets, Fawad Chaudhry said, Pakistan’s recovery from the coronavirus has surprised the world. The positivity rate across the country has dropped down to below 4% except for Karachi.

 

“Salaried class to get big relief in the upcoming budget,” he added in his tweet.

The Minister further expressed hope that Pakistan will be closer to its destination in the coming two years under the leadership of Prime Minister Imran Khan.

Earlier, Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid had announced that after a 10-year pause, Kuwait has agreed to continue issuing visas for Pakistanis.

According to the minister, he met the Kuwaiti Prime Minister Sabah Al-Khalid Al-Sabah and conveyed special greetings from Prime Minister Imran Khan.

“There has been a big development on the front of Kuwaiti visas that had been stopped for Pakistanis since 2011. Family and business visas between Pakistan and Kuwait will now be restored,” he announced via his Twitter.

The minister said that there will also no longer be any restrictions on technical visas in the fields of medicine and oil.

He said Pakistanis will now be able to obtain visas online and visit Kuwait.

According to Ahmed, the Kuwaiti prime minister noted that Pakistan and Kuwaiti ties and long-standing, dating back seven decades.

“Pakistani families and the business community faced great difficulties with the Kuwaiti visa ban,” he tweeted.

“Restoration of worker visas will create new employment opportunities for Pakistanis and business visas will boost trade between the two countries.”

Moreover, the Kuwaiti Prime Minister said that the relations between Pakistan and Kuwait span over seven decades and there is a relationship of love and trust between the people of Pakistan and Kuwait.

Sheikh Rashid said that all Pakistanis consider Kuwait as their second home, adding that Pakistani families and the business community were facing immense problems due to the Kuwaiti visa ban.

He said that Pakistani labour has a very important role to play in the development of Kuwait and the restoration of work visa will create new employment opportunities for Pakistanis.

Prime Minister Imran Khan will interact publicly via telephone through television, radio and digital media at 4 this afternoon.

According to the details, people can contact Prime Minister Imran Khan on telephone number 051-9224900.

Chairman Standing Committee on Info Broadcasting Senator Faisal Javed said in a tweet that Prime Minister Imran will listen to the public complaints via telephone on Sunday, May 30.

He will entertain questions from the public and answer them during the conversation.

During the telephonic conversations, the provincial ministers and special assistants will also be accompanied by the premier.

It is pertinent to mention here that most of the complaints, which were received during the previous public phone calls of the public, has also been resolved till now.

Earlier, Prime Minister Imran Khan had taken notice of the complaints lodged by overseas Pakistanis on the Pakistan Citizen Portal app.

Following the notice, action has been initiated against the officers of Islamabad Land Revenue on the orders of the Prime Minister.

A statement issued from the Prime Minister’s Office said that Pakistanis abroad had lodged complaints with the Prime Minister regarding the transfer of plots, on which the Circle Registrar’s Office had not responded to the citizen’s complaint.

Subsequently, the Deputy Registrar of Operative Societies Islamabad has been immediately removed from his post and the Chief Commissioner has recommended to the Home Ministry to suspend the Circular Registrar.

Inspector Cooperative Societies have been sacked and bank accounts have been frozen by issuing show-cause notices to the concerned housing societies.

It Is Unfair To Pressurize Pakistan To Reduce Its Relations With China: PM

Prime Minister Imran Khan has on Wednesday pointed out the difference between the overall performance of the incumbent government and the then Pakistan Muslime League-Nawaz (PML-N) government for the past 10 years.

In a tweet today, the premier said that in the last 31 months of the PTI government in Punjab anti-corruption recovered Rs 220 billion.

“The difference in anti-corruption dept Punjab’s performance during PTI govt & PMLN’s 10 yrs is clearly visible in the results achieved so far. In the last 31 mths of our govt in Punjab anti-corruption recovered Rs 220 bn, in contrast to the dismal record of PMLN govt’s 10 yrs,” he wrote.

The Prime Minister also compared the recoveries of the state land and indirect cash recovery during PML-N’s tenure and that of the Imran Khan-led government.

He wrote, “State land worth Rs.192 bn recovered as compared to Rs 2.6 bn worth state land recovery under PMLN’s 10 yrs. Cash recovery is Rs 2.35 bn as compared to only Rs 430 mn during PMLN’s 10 yrs. Indirect cash recovery now stands at Rs 26 bn in contrast to zero during PMLN’s last 10 yrs.”

He further said that since the PTI government took its charge in 2018, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has recovered Rs 484 billion in contrast to only Rs 290 billion recovered during 1999 – 2017.

“The same contrast is there in NAB’s performance. Between 2018-2020 of our govt’s tenure, NAB recovered Rs 484 bn in contrast to only Rs 290 bn recovered during 1999 – 2017. When govt doesn’t protect criminals & allows accountability to work without interference, results achieved,” the other tweet read.

Earlier, Prime Minister Imran Khan had said that millions of people in the world have fallen below the poverty line due to coronavirus.

He had said poor and underdeveloped countries were more affected than the developed ones.

Imran Khan had also paid special tribute to Dr Sania Nishtar, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister for Social Security and the team of the Ehsaas Program.

He had said that the middle and semi-middle class were most affected when the economy shut down during the lockdown.

Prime Minister Imran Khan had said that in these circumstances, the Ehsaas program was declared the fourth most successful program in the world.

The premier had further added that the countries which helped the affected class in a quick, transparent and coordinated manner, Pakistan’s Ehsaas program included in it according to the World Bank.

“If the Ehsaas program had not been introduced, our weaker sections would have faced more trouble,” he said.

He said that transparency was maintained because the technology was used in the Ehsaas program.

Earlier, Shahbaz Gill had said that PML-N has become a ‘conspiratorial league’ and there is no political threat from Nawaz Sharif.

He had said that the controversial, anti-national statements of PML-N supremo will harm Pakistan in the future and effects of his statements will become visible in 10 months.

Gill had added that he was against airing Nawaz’s speeches as some of the speeches of PML-N supremo are not in the national interest.

PTI leader while accusing Sharif family of working for India said that Nawaz Sharif refused to meet the leaders of the Hurriyat Conference in India but now he has to answer why he met Indian businessman Sajjan Jindal.

Shahbaz had also asked that can any Pakistani businessman go to India and meet its Prime Minister.

The Special Assistant further said that when the Pathankot incident took place, Jindal made the same statement which is now Nawaz Sharif’s narrative.

He also asked Nawaz Sharif to explain why security personal were not allowed during a secret meeting with the Indian Prime Minister in Kathmandu.

The SAPM said that they know who Nawaz Sharif met in an embassy in London on Tuesday.

He said that the enemies want to weaken the institutions of Pakistan by making them controversial.

Prime Minister Imran Khan will directly interact with the public via telephone on April 4 (Sunday), reported PTI Senator Faisal Javed.

In his tweet, Faisal Javed wrote, “Prime minister would be interacting with the public and answering their questions on April 04 (Sunday).”

However, Faisal Javed in another tweet today has also posted the contact number so that the public could interact with Imran Khan via telephone.

The telephonic interaction in the second session of “Apka Wazir-e-Azam Apkay Sath” will begin at 11.30 am on Sunday, April 04..

Faisal Javed said that the prime minister will respond to the public questions on telephone number- 051-9224900.

He, however, shared that the timings and the numbers would be shared soon. “The conversation with the prime minister would be broadcasted live on television, radio, and digital media,” Faisal Javed said.

Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Imran Khan has said that there will be no trade with India without resolving the Kashmir issue.

A high-level meeting was held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Imran Khan in which the decision not to resume trade with India was agreed upon.

The meeting agreed that no trade could take place until the constitutional status of Occupied Kashmir was restored.

Presiding over the meeting, Prime Minister Imran Khan said that trade with India could not take place without restoring the status of Occupied Kashmir adding that India should restore the old status of Occupied Kashmir.

Prime Minister Imran Khan also said that relations with India could not be normalized without giving Kashmir the right to self-determination.

Prime Minister Imran Khan further said that our position in principle is that there will be no trade with India without resolving the Kashmir issue, which would give the wrong impression that we should ignore Kashmir and start trade with India.

Prime Minister Imran Khan has on Thursday addressed at Virtual Launch of the Final Report of the High-Level Panel on International Financial Accountability, Transparency and Integrity for Achieving the 2030 Development Agenda. 

During his address, PM Imran said that trillions of rupees have been illegally transferred abroad from developing countries.

He said that unequal agreements should be reconsidered while measures against transparency should be imposed at the international level.

The Prime Minister added the UN should initiate various steps, including negotiations on the new international tax cooperation and anti-money laundering legal instruments.

He called for the establishment of a UN Coordination, Adjudication and Mediation mechanism on illicit financial flows. Pakistan will work actively with all like-minded countries to realize these vital objectives, he said.

The Prime Minister endorsed the Panel’s proposals, which include the application of international “values” of honesty and integrity to all financial transactions, strengthening policy frameworks and reforming relevant institutions dealing with these illicit financial flows.

PM Imran Khan said the magnitude of the illicit financial flows is staggering can have a transformational impact on the development prospects of the developing countries if returned.

He said the recovery of the stolen asset will enable the developing countries to eradicate poverty, reduce inequalities, build back better after the COVID crisis, address climate change and strengthen human rights.

He had addressed the first Pakistan-Sri Lanka Trade and Investment Conference in Colombo, saying the way forward for the sub-continent is to resolve differences and improve trade relations.

He said our difference is only the Kashmir issue, which should be resolved as per the UN resolutions. He said differences can only be resolved through dialogue.

The Prime Minister said our problems are subservient to trade and investment. Imran Khan said he came to politics with the dream of a welfare state and poverty alleviation.

He said the current Pakistan government has taken a number of steps towards ease of doing business, removing impediments in the way of investment. He said as a result of these measures, Pakistan improved by 28 points in ease of doing business in the world.

“Govt will take all possible measures to ensure transparency in Senate polls”

Minister for Information and Broadcasting Shibli Faraz held a joint press conference with Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar here on Tuesday (today).

Asad Umar says the government will take every possible measure, within the Constitution, to ensure transparency in the upcoming Senate elections and to end horse-trading in the polling process.

Regarding the stance of the Opposition towards the introduction of open-ballot voting in the Senate, he said that those who have been buying and selling votes in the past are the ones objecting to the move.

“It is no secret that buying and selling of votes have been a tradition in Senate elections,” he said, adding that the PTI came to power with the aim to eradicate corrupt practices from the country, such as the tradition of horse-trading in Senate elections.

“For the purpose, the government has tabled a Constitutional amendment in the National Assembly to hold Senate elections through an open-ballot voting system,” he said.

Prime Minister Imran Khan on Tuesday reacted to a leaked video showing PTI lawmakers allegedly selling their votes in exchange for money handed out by a former MPA of the PPP saying, ‘buying and selling votes in Senate reflects the total destruction of the nation’s morality.

A video filmed around the time of the Senate elections 2018 started doing the rounds on social media earlier today which showed the massive rigging and horse trading.

Taking to Twitter, the premier wrote, “The videos showing the shameful way in which politicians buy & sell votes in Senate reflects the total destruction of the nation’s morality by successive ruling elites as they drowned the nation in debt. Cycle of corruption & money laundering is a sordid tale of our pol elite.”

He further blamed the “ruling elites” for coming into power and making money to purchase decision-makers, bureaucrats and the media to “consolidate their power and rob nation’s wealth.

He further added that they spend money to come to power and then use this political power to make money to purchase bureaucrats, media & other decision-makers to consolidate their power & rob nation’s wealth – money laundering it into offshore accounts, foreign assets and palatial residences abroad.

Pakistan Democratic Movement wanted to protect a “corruption-friendly” system, he added.

In another tweet, PM Imran wrote, “This is what the PDM cabal wants to now protect by supporting a corruption-friendly system. We are determined to stop this cycle of corruption & money laundering that is debilitating the nation.

It is pertinent to mention here that the video that surfaced on media today exposed the horse-trading during Senate elections in 2018 by PTI party lawmakers who could be seen as counting bundles of currencies and hiding it inside the bag.

The lawmakers had been ousted from the political party by the central leadership after holding a thorough investigation.

According to the report MPAs in Islamabad participated in the 2018 Senate elections with Rs 38 million. Whereas six PTI MPAs in Peshawar participated in horse trading by taking Rs 40 Million for each vote in the Senate Elections 2018.

Power sector reform is government’s top priority: Prime Minister

Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan has on Monday directed to take all essential steps to bring more improvement in the energy sector.

Chairing a meeting in Islamabad, which reviewed reforms in the energy sector, PM Imran said that the masses should be regularly informed by the government on issues related to the power sector as the reform process in the energy sector is the top priority of the government.

All the stakeholders must fulfill their responsibilities in this regard within the stipulated period, PM Imran said.

The Prime Minister said a mechanism be evolved so that the subsidy on electricity is only available to the poor and deserving people.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Imran Khan chaired a meeting in Islamabad today regarding setting up of a coastal oil refinery by Pak-Arab Refinery Company Limited (PARCO).

Imran Khan in his remarks termed the addition of PARCO refinery as a welcome step.

He said the completion of this project will not only enhance our capacity in this sector but also help achieve the capability to domestically produce petroleum-related products.

‘Pakistan Has Over 7 Million Drug Addicts,’ Reveals Prime Minister

Earlier in a day, PM Imran urged the people to stand against the drug menace and save the younger generation.

He urged the people to unite against the drug menace so that the younger generation can be saved from the scourge of drugs.

The premier also directed other ministries to play their role in drug prevention.

He said that drug addiction has become a curse for society, adding that the government has vowed to save Pakistani youth from the problem.

PM Imran further added that “Drugs are silent killers. Unfortunately, this problem has penetrated schools and colleges. We have to collectively fight this problem.”

Punjab Minister for Prison Fayyaz ul Hassan Chohan has on Sunday claimed that Shahbaz Sharif’s son Hamza Shahbaz has demanded resignation from Maryam Nawaz, PML-N’s Vice President.

Responding to Maryam Nawaz’s remarks, Fayyaz Chohan bashed her over claims that her dreams would be shattered on December 14 after the Lahore rally.

“On one hand she is demanding the government to resign while on the other, Hamza Shahbaz has demanded resignation from her,” he said.

The minister further added that both young members of the Sharif family had a heated argument as Hamza asked her to refrain from pursuing the current narrative of the party.

Chohan asked as to how those who are facing cracks from within could unite the opposition and the country. “The masses are well aware of their anti-Pakistan narrative,” he said.

Fayyaz Chohan said that the unnatural alliance of opposition under the umbrella of the PDM would die down on its own after the Lahore public gathering.

“Maryam Nawaz should stop making tall claims as the government is going nowhere,” he said.

Earlier in a day, Maryam Nawaz urged her party workers to respond quickly if any case registered against them by the incumbent government.

Taking aim at the incumbent government, she said that with a single roti (a piece of bread) costing Rs30, a family of 8-10 people have no hope of making ends meet.

She said PM Imran Khan used to claim that the “green passport will be respected across the world” but now flights from Pakistan have been banned.

“Is there anyone who can ask him what became of the claims he made?” she inquired.

Speaking further about the delay in LNG procurement, she said, “The prime minister’s friends who run his kitchen were benefited”.

“People hardly have any supply of gas in their homes, but they get unbelievably high bills,” Maryam Nawaz went on to add.

She dared the “fake and cowardly” prime minister to come and mingle with the people for two minutes.

“We must now call Imran Khan by his new name — Taabedaar Khan,” she said.

Speaking to the social worker’s convention, Nawaz Sharif said, “Until now, none of the [elected] prime ministers has been allowed to complete their constitutional term. Every few years, democracy is attacked and martial law is imposed,” he said.

“Again and again, the constitution was violated […] those who created the country were termed traitors, popular leaders were jailed and leaders were made out to be robbers.”

Nawaz once again decried alleged rigging in the 2018 elections, saying that the votes of the public had been “stolen”.

“Tell me, hand on your heart, is this Quaid-i-Azam’s Pakistan?” asked Nawaz.

He said that his speeches had been banned on TV, adding that the world had changed and it was no longer possible to suppress anyone’s voice.

“Social media, despite recently approved rules,” Nawaz said, “is free to quite an extent”.

“It is not possible for them to hide their lies any longer, or to suppress the voice of the common man,” he declared.

Prime Minister Imran Khan has on Saturday said that to make Pakistan a welfare state is my ultimate goal.

In an interview, PM Imran Khan said that in the past political recruitments were made in the institutions and our government has brought people in the institutions on merit.

Criticism is an essential part of society and there has to be freedom in place for it, the premier said.

The premier added that we have made the institutions independent and the government has no control over the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).

The Prime Minister, however, said that what some segments of the media label as U-turns, are just parts of my strategy. He said some of the criticism on him is replete with malicious intent and those who perpetrate it are exposed on their own.

The reason behind my change in the strategy is to materialize a win, he said, adding that even in the times of cricket, he had to tolerate people criticizing his decisions.
